But the amount of time that would take..

The tagged classcs will have to do. I might even have a look at getting each and every ppv dvd separately. Would love if silvervision had a pack or something. :( obviously they dont.

Or you could find someone who has already sailed those seas.

I have every PPV from 2001 and 2002. Most of them don't even have the blurred logos. Absolutely class.

In addition to the media you already own, are these backups of DVD-quality or VHS-quality?

Ever since the old school raw i think it was they've eased up on the editing of F's on TV so hopefully any rereleases with tagged classics don't have the overediting

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,054 ✭✭✭D.Q

it varies. I backed some of them from VHS. But most are top quality.

Might not be a bad idea backing up all of your booty, I hear Tortuga and other ports got shut down by the Royal Navy yesterday.

I'm thinking about doing the same with some tapes. How did you back up from VHS? Do you have to buy some hardware, or did you just connect your VHS player to your computer with a specific cable?

*takes tri-cornered pirate hat and eyepatch off*

If you have a DVD-recorder (that you use to record TV shows) you should be able to tune in it to ur VHS channel; play the VHS and press record on the DVD-R at the same time. Hopefully.

Arrrrrrrr matey, thee gives good advice. I don't own a DVD-recorder at the moment, but might invest in a cheap one. Would be nice to add my legitimate treasure to my near 900GB of treasure chest found whilst sailing overseas ;)

Another preview clip of that new WrestleMania DVD-

AFAIK only WWE HD PPVs have been released on Blu-Ray. But I personally don't see much difference when WWE show old-school footage from Blu-Ray and watching the DVD of the Tagged Classic.

I have all the PPV's released on Blu-Ray so far and the quality is excellent. If you WWE in HD on Sky+HD, it's exactly the same as the Blu-Rays. I'm pretty sure that Mania 24 has a higher resolution (1080p I think) than the rest but I'm pretty sure that's because it was the first WWE PPV to go onto Blu Ray

Any places in town that do good prices for wrestling DVDs, new or 2nd hand? Was in HMV on Grafton Street there a while back and saw some for €40 odd. Not paying that.

Not really. HMV normally have loads on special offer the week after wrestlemania. Keep an eye on this thread as its posted when the cheap deals come in. The odd time Heatons has good deals but it is a hit and a miss.

Watched the Tenth Anniversary Smackdown (Top 100 moments) DVD last week. Was alright. I'd missed a few years so seeing some moments between 2002-2007 was pretty cool, particularly stuff with Eddie Guerrero.

Main issue I have though, The Rock. DVD is meant to be the top 100 bits from Smackdown, and they pretty much combined all of The Rock's promos and interviews into a few short minutes.

That being said, I did get to watch this, which I had never seen before

I have to say I enjoy RF shoot interviews. (well I did)

But now only seeing this video (Rob Feinstein conducts RF shoot interviews but there's no way id consider even buying a shoot interview let alone watching it on YouTube again)

Basically Feinstein shows up to meet a 14 year old boy. How does this chap even make shoot interviews anymore. Disgraceful.

Edit: Video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brqH22JWpRw&playnext=1&list=PL4405D4244AA46D69 4.05 mins onwards

This happened years ago (still not right I know) but I think he got off with it? I used to watch noting but shoot interviews back in the day (Love New Jacks ones) I enjoy them and still watch a few from time to time. You will always get guys doing shoot interviews with Fenistein as he has the money to pay them. ROH used to do shoot interviews and Kayfabe Commentaries (http://www.kayfabecommentaries.com/) do some good DVDs.

GameStop occassionaly have 2nd hand wrestling DVDs if you're lucky. It takes ages routing through the shelves though.

Golden Discs got in a load of WWE DVDs there for a fiver a go/some 6quid. PPVs stretching back to 2002, the most recent were from 2008 I think. They had Shawn Michaels from the Vault and two Ric Flair DVDs as well as the "Families of Wrestling" set. All for 6quid each if I remember right.

To transfer VHS to your computer you need a capture card.

Alternatively you could just connect a VHS to a DVD Recorder and do it that way. Do note however some tapes had copyright protection on them meaning you can't do it this way.

I doubt it'll be a must-buy since so many of their docs gloss over facts and rewrite history. It'll be worth watching for sure but i fit ain't got warts and all then I don't think it's a must-anything.

    I'll wait for reviews.

Thanks, i'm not sure what a capture card is, but I found another way anyway, Maplin sell a small piece of hardware called video-2-pc, one end is USB and connects to the computer, other end connects to the VCR, and I think it just copies the video in real-time to your PC.

That Wrestlemania DVD is out in the US on March 15th, but SilverVision are only selling it from May.
