Also, on the basis of Marq's post (I didn't like it but I can't argue with him) I have applied for a name change in order to remove the "UN".

    Welcome back.

    nice post marq

tough, fair and to the fcuking point!!

ah i remember that first tourney you played in llyod in mount merrion.
I think i actually won it and i berated you for slow playing aces at my 1st table...Haha look how far you have come since then!

Do you think tournaments are better the deeper the stacks? Do you think this makes any sense given that you feel you are an aggressive player who plays well preflop?

You say you are up playing PLO tournies on Stars. Do you have much of a sample size? Are you up playing NL tournies on Stars?

Do you think people talk about you much behind your back? Both live and online.

Do you play mythical or klag? Would you like to learn?

TBH Lloyd, I think most of us know how it feels to get sucked out on in a tournament, but the vast majority of us don't react in the same manner as you do. I know people who will get one-outered for their tournament and stand up and quietly "nice hand" and walk away. I know a lot of players who will make some sort of expletive outburst and walk away muttering to themselves too. I usually find that the better the player, the better they deal with bad beats.

However it's when you win a pot that your reactions are most offensive: there's usually I guy who's just lost a load of chips, or been knocked out of the tournament, and you're standing up pounding the table and shouting victoriously. You say that when you inflict bad beats you're calm and dignified, well why not try to be calm and dignified when you win any pot and abandon the boorish triumphalism you're known for.

You've said on these boards that you're working on being less emotional at the table, but then numerous times you have just tried to justify your outbursts, and anyone who's played with you recently will say that not much seems to have changed. So what is it? Is this something you mean to work on or not?

Your emotional outbursts would suggest to me that you still haven't seperated results from clear-thinking. Your username and location on boards also suggest it. You should be happy if you're making correct decisions and playing well, and you shouldn't be upset if you're losing to bad beats: that means you're doing something right!

If you can't seperate emotion from your play you'll never become a really good player.

And change your username back. Nobody likes a fúcking martyr. there are plenty of guys on this forum who haven't got a 30k win to their name in the last six months who don't complain about their luck like you do, and it grates.

    1. How much of your win in drogheda did you put towards your BR.?
    2. Did the win make you play slightly more cocky as such thus affecting your game?
    3. Are you in the future planning on playing any online cash games even while playing mtt's or does this affect your tourny play?.
    4. Do you have any goals for the rest of the year

more frinds of mine don’t play poker than do.

    .

do you find that this limits the amount you play poker. i.e if its a choice of going out on the piss or going to the casino by yourself, which would you choose?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,440 ✭✭✭califano

Do you think making friends and acquaintance's with people from here has in any way effected your mindset at the live cash table with them present?. Would it be easier to play live cash against them if you stayed a randomer to them if you can make sense of that or are you meh about it?.

Do you think a running play when out of field goal range on 3rd & 12 is a waste?.

In your opinion just how good was 'The Waltons' and what might you have liked about the series?.

Are you or have you ever been a member of any club or organisation outside poker?. If not are there any you would like to get involved with in the future?.

Very best of luck in the GJP ME to you.

    1. Kid A or The Bends? What are your opinions on OK Computer, Amnesiac, Hail To the Thief, Thom Yorkes solo from last year (Eraser?).

    2. Best Godspeed! album (or piece)?

    3. Do you listen to any metal? Who do you think is the best band out there?

    4. Do you think you understand poker? Marq's first post is one of the best on here in a while, and applies to nearly all the tournament players here (myself included). And HJ has said a few times that most people don't understand the game, and that tournaments are silly. What do you think?

    5. Who will win the snooker?

    lol @ rounders123 "Waltons". ffs.

    Hi Lloyd,
    only getting to this now,

BTW I have great respect for your game both in tourney and cash. I always found you a pleaseure to play with and our few discussions on poker theory I've always found interesting.

I've only played with you a few times but didn't find you difficult to play against as I generally knew where I stood with you. (not meant in a bad way)..

    1) Have you any ambitions to play the WSOP.... I think you would do well.

    2) you mentioned that you don't play a lot of cash.. I think you could do very well and you could exploit the obvious edge that you have at 6 max.... would you give it consideration?

    3) you seem to get very annoyed when called light by another player. Is this annoyance with the other player or with yourself for knowing that he wouldn't fold?

    4) one situation: I was playing cash with you in the Jackpot one night and you were doing well. I don't remember the exact details of the hand but I know you were the agressor in the hand and you pushed all in with AK on a rag board and AODEA looked you up with JJ. Btw I wouldn't have called you here as I figured you for AA or KK the way you were playing the hand.... but the guy made a super call and took the pot....... steam came from your ears.... same question as above.... annoyed at him or yourself? you did give him some bashing over it... but I know you 2 are friends so leave that one between you..

    5) I've seen you make some amazing laydowns that I couldn't make in a million years and each time you were right... do you get your reads from physical tells or from beting patterns or your gut feeling?

    6) Do you find the Dublin daily donkamnets frustrating? (I do)

thats all for now... the very best of luck in the future and I think a diciplined thinking player like youself could do well at online cash... think about it...

    Mac

right guess ill get round to this now seeing as it beats study.

    1. Do you feel that people in Dublin cardrooms have lets say lost focus on certain things. for example BCB and yourself are both at each others throats i dont want to get into specfics but my question here is why do you care. To be honest i like BCB i talk to him a lot if he is at my table but i do not ring him on a wednesday to go for pints. Poker is a game were you sit at a table with people you dont know or maybe are aquaintances with but you are not there friends you are trying to take there chips. So i guess what im saying is why do you let it get to you so much and why does BCB let it get to him when you are not friends. Why does his opinion matter to you? You won a major event and most of us will not achieve that so you should not have to justify yourself well you should not feel like you have to justify yourself. sorry that was ranty.

    2. How do you think your style has changed since your GJP win. do you feel that you are a target now? everyone was happy to see you win but such as it is with anybody do you think that just encourages others to play harder against you?

    3. do you find the same problem as me as you often make a move on players cause you know they are capable of making a lay down while you may not try it against a differnt player or alternativly you try it on a specfic player only for them to call ya because they are also capable of making the good call.

    4. do you enjoy it as much as you used to? is the serious factor of trying to get results affecting your mindset? i often belive that i may be unlucky at some point in aq tournment and that will affect my play but when confident i am happy at any table i guess what im asking is how does confidence affect your game on a regular basis?

    5. do you think that Ditpoker will ever stop thonking he is roland de wolfe cause man he is annoying!!

I call for a motion that this thread be locked, or at least left alone by Lloyd. Its meant to be enjoyable for the person in the well. Instead Lloyd is being badgered. He already mentioned earlier it was a mildly harrowing experience and its just got worse.

Marqs comments were constructive but the "nice post marq" replies are not and everything after that was unnecesary. This doesnt augher well for future in the well candidates. Unless someone comes on that plays high stakes and gets instant respect because of that.

God help that blogger guy from America thats meant to be next. I think its only fair he be asked to read this thread before he gets put in.

I think he'll be OK...I very much doubt he'll get any questions/criticism about his own poker abilities!!

Yeah i suppose so. I wonder what the under/over page lenght of his thread will be. I have a feeling he slipped through the net and im pretty sure he will if he reads this. I dont read him anyways simply because he has such a mass following(i always bet the other way remember!). Probably the same reason why ive never watched the sopranos.

But nobody singles out a scene like that. If didnt leave a clue in the sig i doubt many would even know what film its from. Ok always except for films then.

OK, let's let Lloyd get through more questions, so can we give any comments and further questions a break until he gets through some of the back log.

    Thanks,

    Ste

This well seems to be fizzling. Lloyd, feel free to answer what questions you like, you arent required to answer all (or indeed any).

Tomorrow I will start Pauly's well. I dont expect people to be on their best Sunday behaviour but there should be some respect and decorum (as there should be for everyone really).

    DeV.
