Definitely not a meal replacement, i've found it very good, it's the best tasting powder i've had.
@swizz - you said you were looking to keep the weight down, synta 6 is about 200 cals per serving (which is more than you want if your getting enough cals already). If I was you id go for optimium nutrition 100% whey gold standard

Thanks, I was looking at that.Thinking about getting that or ProMatrix X bu Nutrition X.
    Any flavour recommendations?
Edit; Is 3g of Carbs alot?

Hey, Pro-Matrix I would say the Strawberry. Are you looking for a timed release protein?? Have a look at the BSN Syntha6 great product and tastes great.

He already asked about this, he's trying to loose weight and this is 200 cals per serving, although I agree it's a great product

On double chocolate was too tastey imo :D i was so tempted throughout the day to make myself another shake, i ran out of that stuff so fast it was scary, definatly my fav flavour protein to date

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 643 ✭✭✭Swizz

Im not trying to lose weight, just have a fear of putting it on :P

Pro Matrix is supposed to have some "Fat metabloising properties" and has L-Carnitine which according to their site helps fat loss which aint a bad thing. I wouldnt mind my BF% to go down. Thats why Im considering it and also it has very very low fat and 3g of Carbs.

Im considering that or 100% Gold standard Whey from Optimum Nutrition. As it has alot of Protein per serving. 3g of Carbs but nothing about fat metabolising properties or fat loss...

It also says on the NutritionX site for Pro Matrix
DIRECTIONS: Mix one scoop (30g) with just 100ml cold water or cold milk.
    Surely thats not right.

OH the hassle of pickin a protein shake! :(

    ^Pointless comment
No point in wasting €55 and having a 5Lb tub of crap.
    Recession and all that...

I just bought a few tubs of Whey Protein from Natures Way/Holland & Barrett, but the label on the tub says that once the product is mixed, it should be consumed within 20 minutes.

    Why?

It kinda defeats my object of preparing 2 or 3 shakes in the morning, bottling them, and carrying them around with me to consume at various times during the day.

  • Registered Users Posts: 119 ✭✭mack32

im not sure but i think its something to do with the denaturing of the protein when mixed, you could put the powder into the shakes and add water when you want to drink them

Protein shakes stink if they're left to sit at room temperature for a short while - you can pre-mix them and leave them refrigerated and they should be ok, but any warmer than that and it gets fairly disasterous for your nose!

You could put a serving in one of these (forgive the tupperware porn moment!) and then just add water when you want to consume it.

I find the containers great for carrying around as they are smaller.

No I go to the gym to sit down on the equipment with dried in sweat, and look at other people.

Do you go outside? Nearly 7,000 posts?

In which case i'd recommend Maximuscle Progain Extreme..........

Thanks for the tips, I did think of these myself, but the Nature's Way protein doesn't mix very well with a spoon, i need to use a blender or else i get lumpy bits, but I guess i'll just have to live with a few lumps :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,165 ✭✭✭✭brianthebard

You need to get a shaker, it has a little mesh thing in it that breaks up the protein powder.

Its just that you seem to spend most of your time asking about supplements, never about actually training.
I'm not dissing you but most supplements are utter crap and you'd be better off posting about diet and training if you want to learn stuff.

Anyone have any experiences, good or bad, with Dymatize's 'Mega Gainer' or Nutrition X's 'Mass X'?

    Thanks for the recommendation.

I am using the promax whey powder now and iv been going to the gym twice a week for the last two weeks probably start going three times a week. Got just a few questions..

When should i drink the shake and how often?

IS it ok to put it in a blender and add strawberry's and yogurts etc for flavor (any tips here would be good)

How long should i start to see results

I'm 5"11 and 12 stone, I'm not really toned much, best areas would probably be lower legs and arms, worst areas probably mid section and thighs.

I'm just concentrating on upper body atm in the gym to try and tighten up chest.

What should i be doing with my diet, today i had scrambled eggs and a toasted burger bun?? and in the evening i had wheetabix with the red yogurt with bits (cant think of the name ) and some cheerios in it also..

Should i be trying to load up on carbs as much has possable or what because I'm trying to loose some body fat aswell as build some muscle. I also run/walk for 20 min each gym session..

You advice would be appreciated :)

    Thanks
