    Simon & The Ghost

Simon and his ghostly wonders are an awesome band.. not really indie though (in the sense that everyone in this thread seems to think that indie means soft rock)
they're metal played with keyboards. go see them. you'll like it.

They definitely don't get the recognition their music deserves. What they were doing playing the 2fm 2moro tour with The Coronas and Juno Falls I don't know. And their live show is great- they're so upbeat and fun! Love when Rob is just dancing around the stage like a loolah and Graham is such an animal on the drums!

Looking forward to seeing them at EP too!

ditto, there stuff is a level above most stuff people have mentioned here...such as dirty epics, delorentos...there just no quality songwriting there....
*music is not subjective...ignorance makes it subjective*

person A -"beethhoven's music is artistic genius"
person B"- "no i dont agree...thats just your opinion....the new classical album by chad kroeger is far superior"

*facts" 1. the earth is round
    2. Beethhoven WAS a genius

i think the thing that really messed up their momentum was when graham was called up to stand in for snow patrol's drummer when he broke his arm and to drum for delores o'riordan's solo tour as well.

hopefully they'll pick up pace again, start doing more regular shows and then into the studio :D

Agreed - still to play along side Juno Falls and The Coronas... and before The Coronas as well! WTF?? They're so much better than them... I get so excited when Graham starts playing his drum solos!! Unreal musicians who are genuinely sound out. I told Rob he reminds me of Jesse Hughes and he was well chuffed!

I really hope they're on the roll again - a second album would be amazing! Their new stuff is really good too so *fingers crossed* :)

Another band I likes alot lately is Hooray for Humans. And does anyone know what happened to The Chalets?? They were pretty funky!

  • Registered Users Posts: 26,558 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

    whoo for hooray for humans,

think it's one gig i'm going to have to use the new gig buddies forum for when they come to dublin soon.

my mates wouldn't know good music if it smacked them in the face with a trout! :D

Me too!! My friends tastes range from Slayer and Metallica and Opeth to electronica... but none in between for me... and they're also in Cork. So gig buddies forum definitely for Hooray for Humans. Although, I don't usually have a problem going to gigs on my own if I *really really really* like the band. Like Boss Volenti :D Maybe we should organise a get together for Hooray for Humans!

That sucks - they were so upbeat and funky and very random!

    Ten Past Seven
    Waiting Room
    Bell X1
    Hooray for Humans

Are Hurray For Humans playing? Pray tell when?
I'm glad someone on this forum mentioned The Flaws by the way. Also, with all the mention of The Rags.....I haven't seen them in about 4 years! Where did they go?

Jape ... definitly, was pissed off i missed their last gig
La Rocca (even if they reside in the States)

Damn thats five... Honorable mention to

    Alphastates

I think i posted here before, but it was mostly bands that aren't around anymore i think (Turn, Brando, Crayonz etc.), so I'm gonna throw in three that are tickling me just the right way recently:

    Gran Casino
    Le Galaxie
    Adebisi Shank

Yeah, God Is An Astronaut really are tremendous live. I dod a little review of them in my blog a while back.

It's a crying shame that the Immediate Broke up. You got the impression that they fell off the escalator to stardom when they jacked it in.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,165 ✭✭✭insinkerator

I missed them in cypress avenue a few weeks back thaks to work..... and they have nothing coming up soon, although they do have a new album :D:D

  • Registered Users Posts: 81 ✭✭bigjigwig77

    Super Extra Bonus Party
    Giveamanakick
    Jape
    God is an Astronaut
    Walter Mitty and the Realists

All far superior to Bell X feckin 1.... I mean how boring do a band have to get before they go to live on a farm somewhere?

I recently saw Gran Casino play support to Tilly and The Wall and they were great. They definitely need to go places!
