Best thing now would be for Quinn to sell up and eff off to Florida or somewhere and forget the whole thing.

But he won’t, will he ....

These ****ers only want money for themselves, and they are prepared to kill for it. It’s that simple.
They haven’t got the skill or brains to fund the lifestyle they want so they will murder someone to get it.
Stupid cowards is all they are. Hiding behind letters they won’t put their name to and silly posters, getting others to do their dirty work.

I don't think so. They haven't made any extortion demands.

It was a land issue coupled with a give the company back to Quinn thing. Madness. The Garda should be on this. They look to be letting it fester. The council workers fearful to take down signs is ridiculous. Get in neighboring workers, have Garda/Army do it.

It would probably have to be Garda/Army. An outside specialist company declined.

Would presume the ex-provos have a code word included in their letters when they write to the media, it was the Irish News that this latest threat was sent to and they then passed it onto the Gardai who are taking it seriously.

These lads are absolutely brazen and simply have to be in the pay of someone given the lengths they are now going to and all this despite increased Garda focus and heat on them. They are now saying the directors of Quinn group are on their final warning and have alluded to killing Kevin Lunney, none of them are safe at this stage because these criminals know that if they kill even one of them then all the other directors will resign en masse.

Wow, our police force are shocking, or just shockingly underfunded and underarmed, could you imagine this carry on in New York for example, they would be raiding the homes and seizing the assets of everyone involved within the week, irrespective of their criminal clout or organisation. They'd have informants, undercover operatives, NSA correspondence and phone calls and actual weapons. I wonder about the guards ability to fight organised crime.
You can't be allowing criminal interact with non criminal business like this.

I think it’s fair to assume this is the case, if it was anybody but the provos doing this the guards would have arrested them long ago but they are obviously still in fear of the scum, they all know well who is doing this, what has this country come to where a state body, the county council are afraid to remove signage, drew Harris should be all over this, the limerick template needs to be actioned, flood the area with balavlavaed armed cops and hunt them down, the same crew are behind all the atm robberies, Sean Quinn obviously had an arrangement with them over the years and the funds which bought his business weren’t going to tolerate it

Could you sue for damages in such a case?

No I think they send the Brennan brothers in and they tell you how to turn your business around and then they come back in a year to see if you made a balls of it

Finding out the Brennan brothers are behind all this would really be the ultimate plot twist. :pac:

Jesus, they have some neck. The man has been lying since 2010 and had hand, act and part in wrecking the economy, and has claimed ignorance (basically) that he was doing anything wrong.

Don't get me wrong, it p@#ses me off no end to see various builders and developers back in business like nothing ever happened, but no way should this shower be allowed to make demands like this.

I was replying to another post that seemed to suggested the direct perpetrators were motivated by personal gain, ie, money for themselves. Rather than as being thugs for hire on behalf of someone else with a different interest.

They might be able to tie DNA from the scene or the recovered van to him.

At the very least they could haul him in & try to rattle him.

Youve been watching to many cop TV shows.

Send the army up to rip down them posters and maintain a presence on the Republic side of the border. This is completely unnacceptable. This is dangerous behaviour to the whole economy.

Threats cannot be idly made like this.

I missed the news but hubby said that the arson attack on the Gardaí station in Monaghan is linked with all this. Did he hear correctly?

Just looking at the news now, yes they believe that the QIH attacks, the burning of the Garda station in Monaghan, the attack on the Sinn Fein tds house and the dead migrants are all connected via border activity but drew Harris says this isn’t the case...

I'd be surprised if the Emyvale station burning is linked. It's a good spin away and there are closer stations that are empty and could be burned.

I think even Ballyconnell station is closed at night these days.
