I've been told this will only apply to those in the medals, so no difference at all to those using the pacemakers (even if you're in a club).

Interesting to know all the same, I got fairly roundly hammered in another thread for questioning the legality of pacing groups :(

No, you were question the morality of running with a pacing group, which is an entirely different subject altogether.

Not quite......the comment that most people zoned in on in that thread was when I suggested/queried that pacing groups were 'borderline cheating'.

But, as outlined in previous posts in this thread, this issue is only likely to be relevant to a very small number of runners in DCM 2010 so not a major issue.

Also, you have to enter the national champs separately. So, the rules don't apply to the majority that don't enter.

Another alternative to gel belts is a comfy cycling top with pockets in the back, more than enough space to carry a few gels and powerbars etc.

There's always the jacuzzi in O'Connell St :D or did I hear that it was moved when the spire went in? Passed by yesterday but wasn't looking out for it.

Do those Athletics Ireland rules re. pacing apply internationally? If that was the case, wouldn't Paula Radcliffe's world record be invalid as she was paced by a man for some of it?

As this is a championship race (National Championship) it correlates to the World Championships or Olympic Games in which there are no pacers. The other Marathons are not Championships therefor pacing is permitted and why the official pacers in this races can be used just not by championship runners. This is why Haile G opted for his WR attempts outside of championships and has yet to win a global title at the marathon distance

    Hey all,
Couple of things I'm wondering about..
What's the longest LSR recommended this weekend?

I plan on going Sunday, or would you recommend I leave it til Monday to have the 7 days before the race?

I contacted the LUAS office earlier this week. Response received below

Marathon will impact on our service between 0845am-0945am when trams will run between Tallaght and Smithfield only. Other than this normal service will apply.

Bought new running shoes, exact same brand/model as current ones. Is it too late to break them in for DCM?
I have one long run left (8 miles tmw) and then a few short runs. Old runners are a bit flat but new ones are comfy runners - Nike Vomero.

Others may disagree but I have a new pair of kayanos which I plan on doing 11 in on Sunday which will be my first run in them. I have had about 15 pairs of them and have never had any trouble with a new pair. I wouldn't wear a brand new pair on race day but if you haven't gotten problems from a new pair of runners in the past you should be ok if you get a few runs done in them. I presume you will be doing a couple of runs next week too. You could always wear them around the house for a few hours to break them in if you were worried.

    Hi all,

Anyone any suggestions for the best place to get dropped off on the morning of the race. Obviously the less walking the better. I will be travelling from North county dublin direction.

Just get your driver to keep driving towards the start until they can go no further, then get out and leave them with the problem of getting back out again. You should be able to get fairly close though if your arriving early enough.

Well I'll be walking from the hotel to the start line, I'm giving the chauffeur the weekend off.

On a related "how to get there" point, what's the best way to the RDS from the centre on the Sunday to collect numbers?

Prob the handiest for you would be to jump on the dart at Tara St and jump of at landsdowne rd..only takes 5/6 mins journey on the train/dart and is quiet regular for sunday 24th...checkout link below

    http://www.irishrail.ie

Once you get off at lansdowne its only a stone throw away.well few min walk check out map from offical website.
