Good win for Stephanie Meadow up in Galgorm Castle in the World Invitational (previously Northern Ireland Open). Only the Challenge Tour but looked a decent field and beat Solheim Cup player Charley Hull into second. Leona Maguire another decent performance T6. Lisa also played but mc.

Lisa made the first cut, but narrowly missed the second one. She hit a fair few birdies up there so it wasnt all bad :)

Decent week, T5 for Leona, putting her in 5th going into the tour championship.
While not mathematically safe, it would take a very unlikely sequence of results in the last week to overtake her.

That was a good finish, last time i checked over the weekend she was way back. Results not been the best in recent weeks, dont know whether thats a sign she's been coasting a little or something else. Card is in the bag, but would be nice to see a big finish, could still top the money list with a win.

The woman lying in 10th place has withdrawn for some reason, meaning Leona’s chances of getting a card are now at at least 99%.
Meanwhile she is tootling along at -1.
Will know more when the cut is made tomorrow. If two more of her closest competition ( people in places 6-9) miss the cut she’ll be guaranteed.

I hvent been following her progress at all recently. Is she in the running for a LPGA card?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,207 ✭✭✭durkadurka

She’s fifth in the final week, and there are 10 slots. Would take an almost freakish cet of circumstances to deny her now.

She was home and hosed some time ago. Top prize this week of around 35K i think, down to around 10K for 5th, frankly impossible for 6 players to overtake her on those earnings. Would be nice to see a good finish to season all the same.

In the last tournament she is tied 28th after 2 rounds on 5 under, six shots of the lead.

Looks like Lisa Maguire, Leona's twin sister has stepped away from the pro game, according to this Irish Golfer Magazine report (see below). As the old saying goes, "while one chapter of your career ends, another one opens".

Lisa will now be part of the Niall Horan's Modest Golf Management company, in what appears to be in a non-playing capacity. In other words she will become a big part in finding young and aspiring female golfers to join with Modest Golf, that has the likes of Guido Migliozzi, Christian Bezuidenhout, Tyrell Hatton and of course Leona Maguire in their roster.

Best of luck on your new role Lisa!

Strong opening rounds from Leona and Stephanie Meadow in this weeks LPGA event in Australia

Stephanie is -5 and T15. Leona is -3 and T28
However there are 2 courses in use and they both played the tougher course in Round 1. Stephanie had the 2nd best score and Leona the 5th on their course.

Stephanie finished T20 and Leona a fantastic T4

Brilliant stuff, $12.5k for Stephanie, and a not too shabby near $53k for Leona.

Great stuff, should be a nice jump up the world rankings

No LPGA events for the next 2 weeks due to their Asian events being impacted by the coronavirus. So it is another week in Australia for Leona, this time on the European Tour

-4 after the first round and just 2 shots off the lead

Top 20 finish for her this week at the Ana inspiration. Her second major since the return I think.

+2 for the day after 4 holes, that's a shame.

Fantastic birdie-birdie finish just there for 7th place currently. Hopefully should stay in a Top 10 position - great signs for the season ahead.

A very good week for her ðŸ‘

Great to see. Way she's built herself up since her college days has been impressive, never rushing herself, just taking one small step at a time. Mature head on very young shoulders i think. Gary Murphy was very interesting about her on radio today. Hopefully a good season ahead.
