Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Only over half a ton, bit of a drop off, will run another competition again in Feb to see if helps keeps people engaged.

We did surpass 2009's total entire number of posts for the year a few days ago though.

Since the song tournament ended we've definitely seen a drop off of posts. At least it certainly feels like that.

Too soon for another one? Or maybe leave it until next week & february? Afterall we've plenty of months to get through yet before we get to the business end of things.

    *edit*
Just read loughc's post above... February makes sense! Mad that we've already beaten an entire years total already though, even if it was one of the really early ones when I suspect few knew the forum even existed.

It was the first proper year of the Christmas forum and even then it was originally only a seasonal forum, they just to lock it until September time.

Haha you read my mind I was going to ask in the last thread, Movies or 80/90 songs next?

Personally would like movies however happy to go with the majority.

Ps. we all know what the movie winner should be however how it run will have a big impact on the outcome!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,516 ✭✭✭✭DvB

Movies is a good shift away from the music. Then we can move back to music of the 80's & 90's after that. Then maybe adverts? With a swing back to pre 60's & 70's songs?

We could have 1 per month up until the summer at that rate :D

I dont know what my own winner would be, so thats a big call... I'd have 2, maybe 3 that I'd be fairly torn between in a direct head to head.

Agree. My post was a bit tongue in cheek :)

I have one slightly clear favorite however a couple more close behind. Hope they not against each other in an early round!

Agreed. I Got a voucher that expires 1st Feb so I’ll be silly if I don’t use it tomorrow.

I could be big headed and say it's because I haven't been posting on a Saturday however is much more likely people taking a break from computers/screen and getting outside.

Suspect its the January slump is all. The song tournament pushed it out by a few weeks but its inevitable we'll get a drop off as the longest month of the year** progresses :D

    ** & its finally over!!!

Ignore the stats lads, the film thread is gonna generate enough traffic to blow these to shreds IMO:)

So yesterday is now the busiest day of the forum so far. When starting a tournament in February I didn't think there'd be much appetite but boy was I wrong.

Also more interestingly enough, the tournament posting only accounted for 35% of yesterday's tally, it just means once people drop in they contribute to conversation elsewhere which is great to see.

The movie and post lock down threads, was like a one two punch on the stats :)

It'll settle down as we get to the later rounds, some tough matchups already in the last 32...

Big day for stats, yesterday for the first time ever we broke the 200 posts in a day mark. To put that into context we posted in one day 33% of what we would have posted for the entire month last February.

We have now over 1k posts for Feb and we have now passed 2011's total number of posts for the entire year.

Best movie thread closing in on song thread total already! Also nearly half the total of the actual Christmas movies thread

More ties in the movies one I think so theoretically should generate a higher post count.

Reminds me of the times when that was me, I'd sign off in January and not really post again until the Autumn.

A positive from Covid is more traffic on this place. I would log in a few times a week from a sand hole somewhere hoping to get a bit of a Christmas buzz.
