Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Actually,I think it originates in the north sea and could well pep up over the irish sea.

The guys in Exeter say the opposite, that's why they show it dissipating.

Temp has risen to -0.4 and dewpoint to -1.8, hope this stops before they go above zero or else were in trouble!

Is starting to cloud over now aswell.

Just looked at the IWN there, the sst in hte irish sea is a degree higher than the atlantic. Any particular reason for this???

Some almighty lightning visible off the coast of Arklow at the moment and distant rumbles!

Seen that myself out for a walk about 10 minutes ago and i'm on the west side of wexford town and i could see it clearly. Winds have shifted somewhat NE and you can see on the met radar the showers creeping closer to the east coast. I've a feeling it could be alot more active tonight than some people think.

Temp is now risen to +0.2 dewpoint to -1.3.

Is this a tempory rise or will it keep rising as the showers make landfall?

Some of the heaviest snow I've seen in Castlebar in years....has being snowing constantly now for the past 2 hours! Heavy, then light grainy stuff and now very heavy again, a few inches here already and the night is young!

looks like south Dublin, wicklow and wexford are gonna get plastered, nothing in sight for louth, meath and north dublin unless the wind switchs to the south-east which is highly unlikely.

Wouldn't worry about that, plenty of convection over the sea == many more showers will get created along the coast, and the wind direction change is still happening (although the M2 buoy is reporting NW winds now which doesn't make a lot of sense to me). Apart from that, I believe that the band of precip currently over the east coast of Scotland will reach the Irish Sea just to get recharged before entering our coast sometime in the morning.

Some impressive lightning in Bray tonight, seems to have stopped now. Temp 0.8 and DP -1.2, would that indicate snow here?

The band thats hitting bray and the surrounding areas ( NOT N DUBLIN TOUGH! * WAVES FIST AT SKY * ) is only the first wave by the looks of it on the radar , the follow up seems to still be on track for about 4am id say, and yes , hopefully it does get a bit of a recharge while crossing the irish sea!
    :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,017 ✭✭✭TheMilkyPirate

Reports of snow only 200-500m from the sea in wicklow, So much for it falling as rain/sleet anyway! :pac:

It seems the South of DUBLIN and Wicklow are going to get the worst of it...a bit like last year around 3 January before it spread slightly North the following day to North Dublin.:D
