Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The raspberries are what stands out to me, presuming they are the usual 125g punnets then 1.29 is some jump in price from about 3 years back when they used to be 79c on the Super 6.

In general its not as good as it used to be and with the meats they are always trying to push higher value items. I miss the days of the 2 euro rib eye steak :(

I tend to find that Lidls Super Savers on meat to be a much better selection, often Id buy 3 out of 6 items whereas in Aldi I rarely get anything off it anymore.

Agreed, and even more recently too. Last time raspberries appeared in this thread was 79c in November 2019.

    Lidl offers this week are
    https://www.lidl.ie/super-savers not brilliant either.
49c sliced mushrooms albeit a smaller pack, 10c off a cucumber, 10c off chilli peppers.

Would be interesting to know if it is supply chain issues or if they're engaging in price creep

Where are all the melons, pineapples and cherries this year? Usually on this time of year, or before now even.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,277 ✭✭✭Cheshire Cat

Pineapples were on offer twice in recent weeks. It's a bit too early for cherries yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,685 ✭✭✭✭wonski

I doubt cherries will be discounted at all this year.

Ruined a burger with one the day the offer started, musty and limp.

I went back to the fresh one in the bag for 79c, cant remember what its called but its the perfect burger lettuce, its always there, not a special offer.

    Meh...

The 1kg housekeepers cut on 'offer' for 8.69 is a new one for me, pretty sure that it used to be usually 6.99 on the Super 6. Its been a while since I bought it so maybe it went up in the meantime but Ive certainly never seen it knocking almost 9 euro on 'offer'.

Whats worse is from 25th June Supervalue are doing 1kg housekeepers cut on offer for 7.36. Something has definitely changed when you see Supervalue doing cheaper offers than Aldi are for the exact same product.

The discounts below, I find better deals even in Centra these days, especially with fruit&veg selection:

They now changed it to -% rather than -59c or whatever it used to be lol.

No "non-essential" specials whilst the state is at Level 5, so they're not advertising them. In my local one, the middle isles still has some old stuff, but anything new has been what could be considered "essential".

Can't remember which one it was, but one of Aldi and Lidl had people queing for toys the first week of the non-essential retail closures, which sparked the whole stopping of specials (and closing off of non-essentials in the other supermarkets).

They don't seem to be advertising the grocery super 6 anywhere bar the radio though?

It's had some new specials, but from what I've seen, only stuff that falls under "essential". Could be just what's left by the time I get, which is usually Thursday evening. They had the workwear the other week, but didn't seem to have the trousers (which I was looking for), but had what they could get away with as PPE.

The middle aisles in my local is probably about 50% chocolate and biscuits at this stage
