Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

After checking this thread out, I decided to pull the trigger and purchase from these guys during the week. I had the camera in my possession about 36 hours after ordering (using paypal). I used the free shipping option which turned out to be express worldwide when it arrived. Camera settings, manuals in English and from the box it looks like its meant for sale in Europe. Oh and most importantly no custom/VAT charges :)

Hey guys, first of all thanks for all the info in this thread so far. I went ahead and ordered an LG G Pro 2 for 330 delivered due to the amount of positive stories on here, all the time knowing there stood a chance I`d get stung for VAT. I ordered it 6 days ago and I received it this morning from DHL with no customs charges. It was marked as Lithium ion batteries. Same phone on amazon uk is around 600.

Hey could you post a pic of the packaging for the phone. Thinking of ordering the Sony Xperia Z utra for €285 (€330 on Expansys/€530 littlewoods Irl). If i did get charged vat it should b between (€50-60) and is still cheaper then other sites. Thanks

Just to add not so pleasant experience with eglobalcentral.eu lately. Despite the fact I've been a happy customer with them if buying camera lenses mostly, I recommended them my housemate when he was considering the Sony Xperia Z2 tablet. After the payment went through he received the tracking number and kept waiting patiently. It is important to underscore here, the service used was UPS. After a week or so, he received the letter from tax office. He had to pay nearly 130euro in total as an extra (VAT, import duty and other mickey mouse fees).

Lesson learned? Well, it's hard to say if the size of the package and another courier service (no DHL, but UPS) used were the 2 main factors that caused all this pain. The actual goods (tablet and accessories) are fine, no problems there whatsoever.

What happens if you dont want to pay the Duty can you send it back and get your money back?

Depends what you're buying. Mobile phone are duty free as far as I know. It would be the 23% VAT u would have to pay. If u don't pay it's seized and destroyed? Sending it bck is your own cost to Hong Kong €60+ I think?

Thanks, thinking of getting a camera that costs 2,000 on the site.
60 to send it back wouldn't bother me rather than god knows how much duty

So I asked on their live chat:
we ship our orders with special logistics arrangement and therefore all you will need to pay is the prices on website, no VAT, import fees nor hidden charges involved for the customer on any order. Any VAT or customs duties incurred will be settle by eGlobaL. The price you see on the website is the final price you pay for the product.
how come I'm hearing about people who say they have to pay duty on their camera at customs then?
    CS1 - Sales & Support
in case the customer pays the VAT we reimburse them

Cameras are not exempt from VAT, but they are exempt from Duty. If you get charged VAT eglobal should pay you back the cost. You probably wont tho.

I have used this crowd without any problems. Great prices and delivery was much quicker than expected.

They will refund the VAT as long as you give them the VAT invoice & the proof that you have payed for it, my friend had a successful experience on this, the VAT amount was refunded to his PayPal account.

So far I am very happy with eGlobal, fast and cheap

I hope you bought the global version which is the 64 GB as the 16 GB one is for the Chinese Market, but it does have nice specs for a phone that is well below what others are charging for the same hardware but i have heard that the 4G wont work here in Ireland as they left that frequency out. If you do get the phone let us know how it performs and I hope you avoid the Customs......

Very happy with the speed...fingers crossed now for a painless trip through customs. I only picked up something relatively cheap from the site to try it out but so far so good.

what shipping method and payment method did you use?

Tempted to order a camera lens now from these guys after readin all the posts on this thread.
Would like to know what method gives you the best chance....

Paypal + standard delivery? (not DHL to go snooping at VAT?)

I actually had it Express dhl delivery which cost 3.95 extra or something like that. But as I pondered my purchase a popup appeared and gave me 5 euro off my total order :D
I'll hold out singing their praises until I have the goods in my hands though.

you were right Ger phone came in today,no customs so happy out but it is chinesse version. Changing software to cyanogenmode took me 10 minutes tomorrow gonna test 4g but when i check bands is supporting 1800mhz same as my network (vodafone) so should be fine.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9 bartondir

actually after further research vodafone's 4g wont work band 20 not supported by oneplus one, meteor and three should be fine

What version did you buy was it the 16GB or the 64GB? I was looking at a few websites and they were saying that the one plus was held in customs when it was being sent to the EU market and they had to be sent back because of some trading and trademark issue so lots of sites have the phone now so might explain why you got sent out the Chinese model, would you recommend the phone?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9 bartondir

hey ger it was 16gb white ,chinese version withou cyanogen mod. First day was a nightmare none of the networks would work after installing cyanogen mod, kept disconnecting. So after hours of research i found the post about the same problem, basically after replacing software to cyanogen modem baseband stayed chinese so needed to flash that one to international version as well and now works perfect. I can say that the phone is brilliant quality and incredibly fast,so if u have an invite dont hesitate

I ask them on live chat b4 ordering and they said they will reimburse you if u ar charged VAT r anything extra

  • Registered Users Posts: 17 ilavela

Quick update; there were some problems that my order refunded as they say they see my IP address or payment from "out of Ireland" (from company + paypal). Tried from my mobile + not paypal and it is ok. It is shipped this morning with DHL. Hope I can get it this week without any customs issue. Btw, refund from paypal was quicker than I expected, took just 2 days.

Just be aware they say they will reimburse you for VAT, duty is a different matter.

    Not the case.

They just told me this on live chat:

I emailed myself the chat transcript in case they try to deny ever telling me that.

Just be careful when buying a phone and make sure you pick one that will work on EU networks as some phones are specif to certain regions and Samsung are known for this so if you see an S5 research that it will work on your network as it can be expensive to send a phone back and chances are you will get stung by customs as well.

Hi all! I had to register to ask few questions.

I'm one of those who're thinking continuously that order or not to order? It seems that there are lot of happy customers out here and that's only a positive thing. I'd like to order Canon EOS 6D body from Eglobal. Is paying with PayPal okay, so there's chance to get money back IF something happens? What shipping method would you recommend, is the Priority express shipping okay or should i choose the insured one?

    Thanks!

    T

Definitely pay by PayPal. The free shipping will be just fine.

Paypal should be a better option although I paid by card directly. For peace of mind, I'd advice insured shipping. I think it is 2% of your order, it is reasonable when you buy an item around 1K EUR, just 20 EUR.

Would having proof matter though? They are based in HK. If they refused to pay VAT and customs I don't think there's a whole lot people could do, regardless of what eglobal said.

Quit moaning. When you view it from their perspective (As someone who works in eCommerce payment processing) almost every transaction they process is high risk. You're saving yourself about €800 if you don't get caught by customs, and about €250 if you do by ordering from these guys, and you still find something to complain about.
