Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Snowline Wicklow likely around 200m this afternoon (around 0m now but set to rise later), but do you have high ground nearby? Wouldn't be surprised to see it getting down to 100m if you have altitude surronding you

Thanks for that. Yeah we arent too far from higher mountains. Lug is to our direct north and tends to shadow us a bit from anything coming from that direction but fingers crossed.

Frosty morning with a light dusting of snow here in Dublin 8, with some very light showers of tiny flakes. Nice for an early morning walk :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

Getting breezy out there in South Laois. Temperatures up to 0.7c now. Overcast. Hard to know if temperatures will remain low enough to have the incoming precipitation to fall as snow. I wonder is there much chance of the back-end of the trough will fall as snow this evening as it turns colder after dark?

Any chance the Dublin mountains get a few cm later

10 minute shower earlier in East Westmeath. Enough to make a tiny snowman and snowball fight from layer on cars.

Snowing in Cappamore, East Limerick a short while ago according to my sister. Seems like a fair bit of the country got flurries this morning! Nice unexpected treat!

Yep the frost is receding in Dublin 9, doubt it'll hold at low enough temperatures for the precipitation later to be anything decent.

Woke up about a cm of snow here this morning, temperature creeping up a little from earlier.
Theres a lot of little hungry birds out there that'll appreciate some food and water.
I love how dogs get excited by snow as much as any human

Edit: light rain falling now, south Cavan temp 0.8c :(

Is that it then, well in Dublin anyway, regarding ice and snow? Doesn't look like it'll be as cold again in the next week or so.

As you were for the rest of the wknd and early next week with the potential for a proper cold spell towards the end of next week.

starting snowing a little while ago and started to stick, turning more to sleet now, grass is half white but it's begining to melt now, was only a a slight dusting, pity it's turning back to rain.

Bone dry in Dublin 5. Garden and paths still have some ice and snow but it’s thawing

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 16,962 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gonzo

precipitation stopped here again, still some white ness in the grass, especially on the edges of everything. Couldn't even call it a dusting but it's more snow than I saw last winter.

That’s crazy. We are guaranteed a covering even in the mildest winters.

Rain and Sleet now in Carrick across, south Monaghan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,036 ✭✭✭circadian

Heavy clouds and light rain here in Dublin 9.

Scratch that, rain getting heavier and mixed with sleet/snow. Not quite cold enough, alas.

Miserable icy rain north Offaly. Gone from lovely winter scenes to muck in a couple of hours.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,021 ✭✭✭Artane2002

wintry shower in Dublin 5, keeps changing between rain, sleet, wet snow and proper snow, it's proper snow for the moment but light.

precipitation stopped about 30 minutes ago, still some slushy bits on the grass. Looks like more organised rain is on the way, of course there is always a mild sector when precipitation is around.

Snowing and sticking in Blessington (200m asl) for the last half an hour. Kids excited. Me even more so :pac:

Hail, then graupel, then sleet, now hovering between sleet and wet snow (snow in heavier brief bursts). South Laois. 89m ASL.

Thankfully we got out to make plenty of snowballs this morning before it melted away.

Sure isn't that why the precipitation exists in the first place!!!

Very light coverage up there now, a bit more above 700m where the snow hung on from a few days ago.
