Vincent Browne's decades-long and fruitless crusade to find the source of CJ's money shows that Charlie was no angel.

I believe the Arms Trial is up there with events like Bloody Sunday (72) and joining the EEC(73).

These dominated the nation until the 1994 GFA, after which the peace dividend sent FDI here stratospheric.

The next big thing to happen was the continuing and ongoing astroturfing of the Irish population since 2004, with the opening of immigration from Eastern EU (20,000 immigrants estimated by Proinsias de Rossa and Dick Roche) and the smoking ban. Continued by the Constitutional Convention and deliberative democracy combined with the govt paying 5.5Bn to NGO's here every year, so that they can protest outside the Dail.

    Yeah, not a fan.

Mostly browse boards on mobile devices and the new format rather sucks.

Having to manually go into a thread and then to the final page rather than just the final post link sucks.

The FB & Twitter icons are a bit silly, as said, who'd be quoting boards :P

No bolding to indicate unread posts in thread.

Draft message saving is nice though, but typing is a tad laggy now.

Bookmarks still work though, at least for the shooting forum landing page, dunno about threads.

As said in the notice lads this move to this new platform is happening as we're using it so rather than shut the site down for weeks until the work is done its opened up, but will have teething problems.

Now i'm not the best at computers but from reding the other posts, elsewhere, the platform is a modern one meaning the features from the old site are so out of date that they couldn't be transferred to the new one.

It'll take a little time but we'll soon get all the fetures back up and working and it shouldn't be too different from the old site in terms of view. As for mobile, well i don't own one, but have seen some complaints. Again not overly familiar with the specifics/tech stuff but the mobile platform is different to the desktop one so its basically transfering two sets of features. The obvious priority is the main forum so again give it time.

This size of movement is almost unprecedented for Ireland's largest forum/talk site.

On the main page with the list of threads, you'll also see a tab which says last post. It'll have a username and an "arrow" beside it. Click on the arrow and it brings you to the last post.

Can someone do me a favour. The site is changed so I'm getting used to the new layout like all of you.

The target forum has lock symbols beside each thread. In the ol format this meant the thread was locked, but it doesn't seem to be the case on the new layout. Can someone pick a thread in the target forum, say the flicnh thread, and just post the word "TEST" to see if its possible to post in the thread.

    Thanks.

On desktop yes, but on mobile browsers it is just the thread name.

Right, I've manually opened all threads in the target, main, hunting and for sale forums. So everything should be working fully now.

Multiquote is gone, and I'm not sure if its coming back. The Mobile site issues will have to wait until the desktop version is sorted unfortunately.

As for the stars, they were always there. On the old forum the more you posted the more stars, and Moderators, subscribers, admins, etc. all had varying coloured ones. Now everyone is the same (yay, go socialism).

The pips mentioned above, i've no idea, as i don't see them. The points, well lets hope when you reach a certain amount you get a free prize, like acuddly bear or new rifle. Dealers choice. 😜

Sexagenarian here, don’t live life on-line, no face-book, no twitter, birdie, twatter, etc, etc. …..whatever, I hate mobile phones with a vengeance… stupid yokes, only good for calls and texting.

Maybe it’s my age (whatever), I just do boards old style on a PC, old boards worked fine, super happy, no issues, etc …………

New boards basically sucks; everything is click this, click that and 50% of stuff doesn’t work, etc……….

White space - almost everyone on PC/Laptop these days using widescreen (16:9) format, too much white, too much wasted screen space left and right hand sides.

Members/Guests - On old boards you could scroll to end of page and see who was on-line (x members and x guests).

It was great to be able to see if your pals/comrades were online, now it’s gone or at least I cannot find it.

PM Messages - there seems to be no way to delete old PM’s received and sent. Does this mean your PM’s/comments, etc are kept forever…………?

Members/Guests - On the Sub Forums – old boards showed the number of persons online, this seems to be gone also.

Likes - are still available but you have to hover over like icon to see them and most of the time they will not show.

Profile - when you click on your avatar and go edit your profile, all you get is Username & E-mail. No other options available, ………….

Home > Topics > xxx - Small crib but any chance of “pining to top” Home > Topics > xxx > xxx > xxx……

My Forums - when you click on my forums you get a list of postings under the forums. Crazy, all I want is the main list under forums, not every thread posted.

You scroll down checking threads, and Home > Topics > xxx > xxx disappears, yes you can hit home button to go to top of page but pining it to always display would make things so much easier.

New Posts - on old board’s new posts were bolded to indicate new and unread, easy to see and follow, they reverted to normal text when read, now everything is bolded, makes things very hard to follow.

    Just my tuppence worth.

    More.

I wanted to add more to my previous post, but it also appears that we cannot edit a post to correct spelllllling mistakes (no auto spelling included), add a comment, etc, etc.

Also, the links at bottom of home page do not work, ie

Advertise, Terms of Use, Privacy Notice, Cookie Policy, About Us, Contact Us

Can anyone tell me where do I post this post and previous to the head mods, I can't find where to put the posts.

    Overall - Words fail me.............pathetic........

  • Registered Users Posts: 553 ✭✭✭JP22

    More.

    Pasting does not work properly.

On my previous post (second last - 12:03am) as no post number now included, the second para under My Forums You scroll down checking threads, and Home > Topics > xxx > xxx disappears, yes you can hit home button to go to top of page but pining it to always display would make things so much easier.

should have been under Home > Topics > xxx.

    Crazy.....................😂🤣

JP22, get off the fence nd tell us what you really think. 😋 I'll try address as much as I can but remember this is all new to me too so i won't have all the answers.

To edit a post click the three dots at the top right of each post and select edit.

most of the rest of what you are saying can be covered by one simple thing, its still happening. The transfer of data from the old site to this new one is still taking place. I know this from PMs, threads, posts, etc. that were missing a couple of days ago which hve now appeared. This will/may happen with other features as the site slowly gets back to full working order.

The old format of the site, and I'm not a techie so excuse the Sesame Street explanation, was based on such outdated tech that had it continued on it would have essentially collapsed in on itself. so the change had to be made.

The white space will be filled eventually as more features come online. Again its a waiting game.

As for missing numbers, forums, etc. those items will return however some features may not. I cannot say which or any that will come back or remain gone as I'm not privvy to the extent of the changes being made during the trasnfer.

Its a crappy situation, no doubt, and I won't pretend I'm happy with things either, but until the whole thing is done we won't know what way its going to turn out. Even when the transfer is done there will be teething problems, bugs to be rectified, and so on. I'm only posting to try and answer a few questions and then I'm sitting back and waiting.

Finally there usual forum for reporting faults is not up and running, yet. The "head Mods" would be the admins but they're busy with all this site stuff so any complaints to them will be wasted as they're fully aware of the faults and cannot make the process go faster.

Hopefully this covers as much of your issues as possible.

On a personal note, take more time off. God knows i'm enjoying it. Never got as much work done, and no hassle, no arguments, reported posts, fights to referee etc. A small glispse of life almost completely without tech (as I'm not on the other social media either) and its not half bad. 😎

Long time no see, as they say, info most appreciated.

Cass, can't get off the fence, old bones won't allow me get on it ..............🤣🤣... 😖.. but, I know where your coming from.

Its nice to know that the major issues are being adressed, like yourself, not a techi, I'll never be a keyboard warrior, too slow and just venting frustrations.

Anyhow, if you can pass on my comments to the powers that be, I'm happy.

Retired, time off, meh, I wish, her indoors keeps making up lists.

Enjoy the weekend, temps are to hit 24/25, happy days.
