How so? The Double Olympic distances in general or the TriAthy Double Olympic?

i just think the Double Oly distance in general shifts the balance from the cyclists to the swimmers IMO

If compared to a half Ironman, the swimmers are favoured for sure!!

I jsut see it as good prep for an IM to be honest. THe 3k swim, as daunting as it sounds is a feather in the cap of a first time IMer, all going well.

Sure the bike and run are easy :D!!

One more week before taper then? I did the double last year, it was a great confidence boost for the IM swim.

  • Registered Users Posts: 157 ✭✭altercor

Ya, it'll be a confidence boost or a shot in the arm for me I'd say.

How did you find it with the flow? There seems to be small numbers doing the double and so I'd say the start aint too manic?

It was the usual wave chaos. I saw a guy swim the whole thing with no goggles, he must have had a knock. The usual thing though, stay back if you want to avoid most of the rough bit.

Last year the flow was fine, you could feel it was easier on the way back down, but the swim against the flow wasn't bad at all.

Did a sea swim last Friday night against the tide and that wa horrendous! Head down for ten mins, head up, same spot pretty much! By the time I figured it out I was behind where I started!

    Fun times indeed...

The ol brain freeze didnt help!

It'll be two hats on Saturday!

looks like gap is 10 minutes. that means not hitting the water till 7pm. talk about an awful time to be starting

You need to click on the links to the rh side for the other races.

Whoever designed and maintains that site needs a kick up the bum.
