Interesting how there's been barely any comments about this on here whereas the likes of Meryl Streep and other females who defended and worked with Polanski over the years have been raked over the coals.

    Disgusting stuff from him alright.

Replace the famous names and this all sounds like that sh1t spouted by those peado advocate groups.

Tarantino has always come across as a massive cock who is far too in love with his "art" to see any other perspective. His reaction to any criticism of screen violence is comical, it's not that surprising he (along with so many other industry tossbags) bends over backwards to defend a fellow auteur, sure they are all special people who the rules shouldn't apply to.

I think its because people know Tarantino is a piece of crap, he's never really alluded to anything otherwise. Choking his actress also happened on Inglorious Bast*rds, and that was known years ago. It popped up in a Cracked article.

Plus the delay in commenting on it came with the board being frozen for a while, so there's that.

Apparently there's now a movement by women calling for more men to mentor women, something that isn't happening now because men are afraid of being accused of all sorts.

Not sure if many of you read the following comments from a statement put out by Harvey last week regarding what Rose was supposed to have said to her manager at the time of the alleged rape, Jill Messick (and also to Ben Affleck):
“In an email to Mr. Weinstein regarding the encounter, Jill Messick says the following, “When we met up the following day, she hesitantly told me of her own accord that during the meeting that night before she had gotten into a hot tub with Mr. Weinstein. She was very clear about the fact that getting into that hot tub was something that she did consensually and that in hindsight it was also something that she regretted having done.”

“Ben Affleck expressed the following in an email to Mr. Weinstein, “She never told me nor did I ever infer that she was attacked by anyone. Any accounts to the contrary are false. I have no knowledge about anything Rose did or claimed to have done.”

Seems however that Harvey didn't request permission from Jill to include the above comments in his statement (no idea if he did or notwith regards to Ben's comments though).

Anyway, it would sadly appear that Jill took her life early today.

Jill's family released the following powerful statement:
“The Movement” just lost one of its own.

Jill Messick was a mother of two children, a loving wife and partner, a dear friend to many and a smart entertainment executive. She was also a survivor, privately battling depression, which had been her nemesis for years.

Today she did not survive. Jill took her own life.

Jill was victimized by our new culture of unlimited information sharing and a willingness to accept statement as fact. The speed of disseminating information has carried mistruths about Jill as a person, which she was unable and unwilling to challenge. She became collateral damage in an already horrific story.

Jill believed in the Movement. She supported every woman finally coming forward to share their dark truths and expose those who had committed previously unspeakable deeds. She was loyal. She was strong. Jill was many things, but she was not a liar.

Over the past few months, many women have come out with allegations against Harvey Weinstein, including Rose McGowan, who has repeatedly spoken with the press, striking out against not only her alleged attacker, but a great many others. One of them was Jill, who chose to remain silent in the face of Rose’s slanderous statements against her for fear of undermining the many individuals who came forward in truth. She opted not to add to the feeding frenzy, allowing her name and her reputation to be sullied despite having done nothing wrong. She never chose to be a public figure; that choice was taken away from her.

Now that Jill can no longer speak for herself, it’s time to set the record straight.

In January 1997, Jill was an entry-level manager at Addis Wechsler. One of her first clients was Rose McGowan, and one of Jill’s first duties was to set up a breakfast meeting with Harvey Weinstein during the Sundance Film Festival. Following the meeting, Rose told Jill what had happened — that she made the decision to remove her clothes and get in the hot tub with him — a mistake which Rose immediately regretted. Rose never once used the word rape in that conversation. Despite this, Jill recognized that Harvey had done something untoward to Rose, if not illegal. She immediately went to her bosses, the partners of Addis Wechsler, to recount Rose’s story and to insist that they immediately address the situation. They told Jill that they would handle the situation. The ensuing arrangements between Rose and Harvey were then negotiated, completely without Jill’s knowledge. At that time, all Jill knew was that the matter was settled and that Rose continued making films with the Weinsteins. She never knew any details until recently, when Rose elected to make them public.

Ten months later, in November of 1997, Jill received a call from the Miramax exec VP of production, recruiting her for a job as an executive at Miramax Films working in production in Los Angeles. Jill was hired based on merit and her excellent work of over two years as a young development executive working with Woods Entertainment (prior to her time at Addis Wechsler).

Rose’s most recent round of press to promote her book has included new stories involving Jill. The constant press attention Rose has garnered in print and on national TV led to Harvey Weinstein releasing two documents. One of these was an email that Jill wrote to him months prior to the first New York Times piece coming out, and at his request. In this email, Jill offered the truth based on what she remembers Rose telling her about the Sundance account. In the face of Rose’s continued and embellished accusations last week, Harvey took it upon himself to release the email without her consent.

Five years ago, Jill suffered a manic episode. Anyone familiar with bipolar disorder knows that it is a cruel and vicious disease. With the help of doctors, her family and friends, Jill rebounded. Jill had fought to put her life back together. After a long job search, she was in negotiations to run the production division for a new entertainment company.

Seeing her name in headlines again and again, as part of one person’s attempt to gain more attention for her personal cause, along with Harvey’s desperate attempt to vindicate himself, was devastating for her. It broke Jill, who was just starting to get her life back on track. What makes Rose’s inaccurate accusations and insinuations against Jill ironic was that she was the first person who stood up on Rose’s behalf, and alerted her bosses to the horrific experience which Rose suffered. Twenty years ago, as a very junior person in a management company hierarchy, Jill exhibited her integrity in doing the right thing — she raised the red flag with the heads of her firm. In the face of inappropriate behavior, Jill handled the situation appropriately.

Hers is one of the only stories that has stayed consistent over time as we watch other media reported tales morph to beget further attention.

While journalists serve an important role in exposing predatory behavior, we are seeing irresponsible choices and an addiction to sensationalism which leads to inconsistent storytelling. The media is a powerful tool not to be taken lightly. Most individuals would be horrified to have their name spotlighted in a major international news story — let alone their photograph. We cannot forget that the media is a fearsome tool which cannot be used indiscriminately or even inadvertently to create further victims.

There is a responsibility when using a platform to accurately expose criminals, predators, mistruths and misdeeds while protecting the actual truth of third parties.

As we collectively seek to take action in an effort to right the wrongs so brazenly and inhumanely repeated for a generation, we must not forget one simple truth: Words have power. While we illuminate the dark corners for hidden truths, we must remember that what we say, particularly in the media, can have just as much impact if not more than our actions. We must ask more of ourselves, and of each other. We must take a moment to consider the ramifications and consequences of what we say and what we do.

    Words matter.

Someone’s life may depend on it.

I would say the pressure on her was immense as she was one of the people closest to Rose at the time and therefore a lot was being put on what she had to say and no doubt was getting some heat for it. Fcuking sad anyway.

More and more people are turning against McGowan, and tbh, I'm past the point of disliking her-she's coming across as really self centred.
She threw Messick under the bus, especially since she worked so hard to get Mcgowan justice.

Her family have called Jill collateral damage. https://edition.cnn.com/2018/02/08/entertainment/jill-messick-family-statement/index.html

It's deeply disturbing, as I have no doubt Rose knew of Jill's mental health issues. She knew of her promotion, for one thing.

Was going to use the term collateral damage myself, deeply troubling. Weinstein and McGowan need to have a long look at themselves.

I expect a deluge of angry and patronising articles written by "journalists" directed at Jill's family, that seems to be the order of the day these days if someone "breaks ranks".

Yeah, look at how quick the 'don't body shame someone' people were sharing the Donald Trump baldspot video.
The same people would be defending the 'so what if she wants to share her period blood stain' ladies, or the hot flush women.

The 'sisterhood' (not solely women, just using a term) are one hypocritical buncha peeps.

Well personally I’m maxed out on Donald Trump stories and barely glance at them now. When I see his name now, I swiftly move on. I can only assume I’m not alone on that score. DTNF - Donald Trump News Fatigue. It’s real.

How many people did you actually note sharing the story? How many were women? How many of those were feminists?

Go through the list many are feminists,or #resist which indicates feminism.

Jan Moir made a defense of why people shouldn't condemn Trump's looks.

And an intriguing analysis of an increasing uneasiness around McGowan.

Aside from the fact he's incredibly un-entertaining...
nothing that RTE does would shock me.. that place just give a big middle finger to the irish public...

Rose McGowan clearly has some mental heath issues but really its the idiots on twitter and the media who are fuelling her on to think shes on some kind of moral crusade afraid of rocking any boats.

Yeah, they gave Darina a show shortly after Tim's conviction.

Anyways, in other news, an investigation of sexual abuse against Steven Seagal is underway.

    http://variety.com/2018/film/news/steven-seagal-district-attorney-sex-task-force-1202694078/

Salma Hayek pays tribute to Jill Messick. I will say that I think Hayek has, for the most part, behaved with dignity. I mean she noted how Weinstein threatened to break her legs, among other crud. But didn't drag anyone else into the drama.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5373547/Salma-Hayek-posts-tribute-Rose-McGowans-former-manager.html

And while Tarantino apologised to Polankski's victim, he's also been accused of biting Fergie on the set of Planet Terror.
Well, it's an old story, renewed.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-5373561/Fergie-defends-Quentin-Tarantino-biting-set.html

Have to wonder if Reese's 'reaction' indicates how she earned her oscar. She was pretty bad in Walk the Line, a southern lady who couldn't maintain a southern accent (Reece spent most of her life in Tennessee).

Hook said an intriguing point, badly worded.

Porter sexually assaulted men, in public and private. Sticks and stones vs words. Porter did similar stuff to Kevin Spacey, but the difference is nobody's offering Spacey work.

For some since Al's alleged victims were only male and Hook spoke bad of females Al's alleged crime isn't as tweetworthy so hes forgiven.

Yeah I see the difference. I've different of sexual assault.

Not a fan of either by the way would be happy never to hear from the again.

Oh I've no love for Hook, but the death threats were something else.and uncalled for. People boycotted him, but are sweeping Porter's victims under the rug.

When Porter is accused of groping outside and inside the clothes, as well as digital penentration, as in inserting fingers into men's rectums, without consent, I find hard to believe media folk are defending him.

There was a case here in Ireland many years ago where a rich douchebag sexually assaulted a young woman, with a similar method to Porter. He was damned in the media, and rightly so, despite blaming medications. (An excuse I don't believe).
Nobody said forgive him, or 'the sentence outweighs the crime'.

Porter did multiple assaults, going back to his secondary school days (we never heard from the pupils he allegedly assaulted, only him) and has never apologised for the pain he caused.

Hell, Michael Colgan is getting a harsher time, and most of what he did was saying crud and being a jerk.

Nowadays abusing men is fine. Speaking ill of women is not allowed. Hook is therefore a worse person than Porter for this reason to many people.

I look forward to RTE's new morning show where Kevin Spacey hosts between 9 and 12.
His sidekick is the chef Tim Allen.
(Ah sure his child porn was on the 'lesser scale' of child pornography).

The way America works the following could be a political (or career) move but interesting nonetheless:

Harvey Weinstein hit with sexual misconduct civil lawsuit by NY Attorney General

The New York State Attorney General filed a lawsuit against against Harvey Weinstein following an investigation revealing repeated examples of sexual misconduct, officials said Sunday.

Top prosecutor Eric Schneiderman launched an investigation into The Weinstein Companies in October of 2017. Weinstein was fired by the company on Oct. 8 following an expose detailing allegations of sexual assault and harassment. The entertainment mogul has been accused by dozens of women.

“As alleged in our complaint, The Weinstein Company repeatedly broke New York law by failing to protect its employees from pervasive sexual harassment, intimidation, and discrimination,” Attorney General Schneiderman said. “Any sale of The Weinstein Company must ensure that victims will be compensated, employees will be protected going forward, and that neither perpetrators nor enablers will be unjustly enriched.”

Schneiderman’s investigation found Weinstein allegedly made repeated threats to employees.

“I will kill you,” he allegedly told them. “I will kill your family.”

He allegedly employed women whose primary job it was to act as his “wing women.”

“Female Weinstein employees are essentially used to facilitate his sexual conquests of vulnerable women who hope he will get them work,” an executive report

Was looking at McGowans Twitter feed last night and she has backtracked and has made this about HER and her manager being victims. Incredibly selfish reply that she's getting (rightly) called out for.

I know there's no perfect victim of a sexual assault but the way she's acting Im sure she's the cause of mass eyerolling from that pocket of the world.
