Anyone bought Ovoids from CW lately and whats the verdict on the latest version. Got a quote for €300 per ton. Delivery extra. Would like to know the quality before committing. Got a ton from CW 2 years ago and was happy with quality.

Has anyone bought the so called Anthracite from Kosy King recently, its about half and half pet coke, and some kind of steam coal.

Not anthracite at all,I think they are trying to cash in before Brexit and are taking the mick.

I split a ton with a friend of mine, but we won't order from them again, even at 20 euro a bag,the cpl anthracite from the local supplier works out cheaper in the long run.

Update, kosy king have said they will replace it,as it was incorrectly bagged.
It will take a few days as they have a lot in the batch and have to get some actual anthracite bagged up.
I will update once it's been resolved.

I got some Black Diamond from CW today.
    Burns well, massive heat output.
    I'm using an open fire.
I'll check how it is for cinders etc tomorrow.

bought a tonne of the stuff about 2 weeks ago, its still the same quality. Best ovoids in the market in my opinion

For me it still works out at 165.5 per tonne cheaper than a tonne of the most comparable yet inferior in my opinion of ecobrite

tonne of ecobrite plus delivery = €537.50
tonne of ovoids plus delivery = €372

Think I've enough CW ovoids left to see me through, so gonna wait til CW drop their prices in the summer months.

Anyone any idea when they typically do summer deals?

I was under the impression that they never really dropped their prices seasonally. The odd deal pops up but it doesn't seem to be seasonally dependent.
    Could be wrong in that.

Actually, just wondering who people are using for shipping from Coal Warehouse these days, I know Liam Connolly's put their prices up a good while back.

    Anyone burning CPL Superflame?
It's a mix of Union nuggets and smokeless ovoids.
The ovoids look a bit like Staffords ones. Which were ****e.
I picked up a few bags to 'dilute' down the Easyglow small ovoids. They give a lot of flame.

So far the Coal Warehouse ovoids are the gold standard.

Time to think about Coal especially with the Pound at an all time low. The prices must have dropped or can you pay in Pounds ?

Are the Ovals still considered to be as good as Ecobrite ?

Is it still the system that you have to arrange delivery yourself ?

Anyone delivering half a tonne ?

I actually rang coal warehouse today enquiring about Ovoids.
The price in Sterling is around 268.
Girl I spoke to wasn't definite on price as she couldn't take an order as they are waiting on new payment terminals. Could be next week before they have them.

Tis late and i'm tired but I had a look at Beatty's prices . A tonne of Champion singles is €339, but a 40kg bag is €10.35. Does'nt compute. 25 single 40 kg bags works out at €258.75. ???

I ordered their ovoids last year. There was decent heat from them but way too much ash when burned. I’m going back to coal warehouse for my next order of ovoids as I found them the best all rounder.

A lot of ash and clinkers left every day though. It was the “Coalite” I bought from them for the Stove .

Going to go with the Coal Warehouse this year I think . I’ve used Easyglow and Beatty fuels in the past. Easyglow were great but prices have gone up.

I was using Ovoids and Singles last year to bank down the stove for the night. Worked grand.

Just wondering does anyone have a opinion on the Doubles at £180 and the Columbian doubles at £215 from the Coal Warehouse . What are they both like? Was thinking of using these instead of the singles this year as the stove I’ve got is bloody massive .

Is all coal not imported into Ireland? Most coal is produced in ex USSR countries, Asia and the Americas. I say the closest it will come from is Poland.

If you are as concerned as you sound, then it may be worth gettng rid of your fire.

I’m not been smart pal, but 99% in this thread are in here for a coal bargain and just want good coal at a cheap price . No one really cares where it comes from, as long as it’s cheaper than down south, burns well, and leaves no clinkers . If you would like to call the Coal Warehouse go for it, and then you can tell where it comes from, but I don’t think it will make much of a difference to most of us.

I got the Black Diamond the last 3 years but last year the heat from it wasn't the same. I would be hesitant about buying a tonne this year.

i posted this here about a year ago in regards to the saving per tonne of coal comparing Rep of Irel to N.I.

"I pay 22 euros a bag for ecobrite at my local coal merchant.
So a tonne of local based ovoids are 550 per tonne inc delivery. A tonne of ovoids from coal island inc delivery 370 per tonne. That's still a saving of 180 euros per tonne."

In terms of savings per year, I buy 2 tonnes per year, this is the best bargain alert here for me
