Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The FStream app is free, and once you have that, you can listen to any stream for which you have the URL.

You can find playlists for various BBC streams at http://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk/help/streaming_programmes/real_wma_streams . You can open that page in Safari, copy the URL for the station you want (tap and hold for a few seconds), and paste that in to a FStream Favourite. Sorted.

I just tried 5 Live: they're currently repeating a sports show because they don't have the rights to stream the Formula One commentary.

Death has this much to be said for it:
You don’t have to get out of bed for it.
    Wherever you happen to be
    They bring it to you—free.

Hey Gar , not sure if you're interested but you can listen to both Today fm and Newstalk using the player ,Fstream, that BNT recommended above. If you follow his instructions you can listen to any station you want with it.

The URLs for those two stations are

    Newstalk : http://newstalk.fmstreams.com:8008/listen.pls
    TodayFm : http://streaming.todayfm.com:8000/listen.pls

The RTE stations can be got easily too and it's an excellent player. Very clear and never cuts out etc.

Anyone else's Guardian app acting up? Mine bombs out seconds after I try open it.

Edit: A swift google reveals a massive problem from their end and you have to uninstall then reinstall the app to sort it.

Cloud Browse allows you to view Flash content on your iPhone/Touch. It works kinda like VPN but it streams audio and video rather well, with little stuttering. It is only available on the American iTunes Store.

It also allows you to view videos on the likes of the ABC, NBC and Fox website (not Hulu unfortunately) to view On Demand content, not that I would encourage that sort of thing. :D

Scratch that, it's useless for videos, but good for audio (Pandora for instance).

I'm after purchasing the wi-fi sync app from Cydia (Apple rejected it, surprise, surprise). Costs $9.99, little steep but worth it imo.

Well impressed with it. If you set iTunes to open and autosync when your device is connected then it's very straight forward. First time you start the app it will pair with your PC, and there is an option in the status bar to disable backups.

You then start the app on the phone and iTunes will automatically open and sync. Decent speed as well. Definitely worth it if you don't have a cable always handy!

What's the best barcode reader for shopping on Irish or European websites? The app I have gives me the products in dollars and mostly from the States or China.

Does anyone know of an app that allows me to connect my iPhone to the laptop's internet connection via USB? I'm not looking to use my iPhone as a modem for my laptop, which is what I understand internet tethering to be, more so the other way around! The wifi in my house unfortunately doesn't work in my room (long story) which is why I can only connect to the internet via a wired network and would like to still be able to use internet on my iPhone too! Also phone is jailbroken! Thanks!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,497 ✭✭✭jarvis

I recently started using "mywi". It's excellent.
It turns on tethering in your settings, just go to the settings
and turn tethering off and mywi will continue to enable you
    to tether. !!!!!!
    It really is good.

Do you think I'd put it up here if it was terrible.....angry birds is a great game tbh but some of the stuff on gamebox is as good if not better and you get 31 games instead of 1

total no brainer, check out the ratings

Eirtext is a brilliant freebee app but over the last few weeks I've had loads of hassle sending texts using my Vodafone allocation. I've got hundreds left according to the vodafone website. When I try to send a text (Im sending the same one to 10 people to organise football training) it spends ages at the logging in stage, and then after a while it says sending failed. The trouble is, the first few people are receiving the text, and I've no way to figure out who got it and who didnt.

    Any ideas?

Is there any way you could integrate a popup delivery message with Eirtext Vinny?

Something like the Cydia delivery notification or is it not possible?

I have something like this built into EirText for Mac. Leave it running on your Mac and it polls your O2 account and sends you a push notification when a message is delivered. You'll also need EirText Pro. No Windows solution right now.

I could use a server to do the polling, but then I'd have to store every user's login details. Not something I want to do, and not something most users would want either.

They update it hourly and has all the free apps from other websites promotions listed.

aye stuck a link up to it, but worth posting again!

I've subscribed to the RSS for iphone/free/popular via a free rss reader on the phone, so dead handy :)

also, if you set up an account with them, you can mark apps as being watched, and you'll get email notifications of price changes, updates etc

Sounds like you're having Vodafone network issues. See: http://www.vinnycoyne.com/?p=834 for explanation on the EirText problem. I would assume that the Facebook issue is related.
