Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Are people actually forking out the big bucks to buy sim free or upgrading?

Is there any discount referral code available?

Ideally for the 7T Pro as I think that's what I've settled on

Big referral link thread here: https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057978665 its for the OP7 but all links will still be valid.

I'd say most OP owners would buy direct sim free from OP

The OP7 Pro is €469 on the €30 a month plan from Three. That's €1189 over the life of the two year contract.

If you buy direct from OP and sign up to the new 30 day plan from GoMo at €9.99 a month the two year period will cost you €940.

Even if you were on a €20 plan per month it'll work out slightly cheaper to buy direct.

I was thinking of GoMo but often those sub-companies tend not to deliver great service or last too long. I have an old package with a network that gives me unlimited data which they no longer offer to new customers so not really willing to loose that.

Any recommendations for a good case and screen protector for 7pro? I got the sandstone case free but not convinced it offers much protection! Cheers

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators Posts: 11,684 Mod ✭✭✭✭devnull

Already a film screen protector on top of the phone when you get it, or are you talking about an actual glass/plastic one to go on top as an extra layer.

    I've got one of these:
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/OtterBox-Symmetry-Clear-Confidence-OnePlus/dp/B00Z7TV8IW/ref=asc_df_B00Z7TV8IW/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=294684076205&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13904325368879399432&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9045048&hvtargid=pla-760542507253&psc=1&th=1&psc=1

There's a decent lip around all four sides of it which is a screen bumper, the case is made from very tough material, back literally is solid as a rock and the phone fits in as solid as a rock (not easy to get out mind, but possible!) The lip pretty much stops any accidental palm touches of the screen as well without hindering text input and obviously it's clear, so if you have Nebula Blue, that's a bonus. It's compatible with most screen protectors and the Otterbox Alpha Glass.

Probably a touch overpriced but the level of protection is very high and build quality blows other cases out the window.

I got the nylon bumper case for the OnePlus 6T, a year ago when I bought it and I have dropped the phone (accidentally) 3 or 4 times on hard path. And it has come out of it without any damages.

They have the same bumper case for the 7 and 7t

It has gorilla glass 6 as well which , based on tests online, seems to show , that it's quite a sturdy phone.

Anyone returned a phone to OP under the 14 day cooling off period?! Is it difficult? Tempted to order and see what its like!

I've pulled the trigger on the 7T, looking forward to seeing how it performs now.

I think no 3.5mm jack, no jack adapter and no notification light is a deal-breaker for me but still interested to hear opinions on it

5t is still going strong apart from having to be very precise to get it to quick charge

Invest yourself in a pair of wireless bluetooth headphones, I did the same and never looked back.

Just pulled the trigger on a 7T Pro + Karbon Bumper case. €800 is a bit eye watering but upgrading from a 5 and will be re-purposing that as a phone for my son.

When the purchase is complete you are then presented with an option to buy the "OnePlus Protection Plan" which is an insurance policy for circa €80 which provides a repair service for any damage done to the phone but when you click on it https://aftersales.oneplus.com/login you have to enter a phone number to get the process started but Ireland isn't listed as one of the country codes.

Anyone else looking to get this insurance cover and if so have you figured out how to get it?

I do have a couple of pairs. There are times where I find the jack quicker and more convenient.

    Yep.

Not sure one could call being restricted by cables that tangle and are restricted in length, need to be untangled and physically plugged in an improvement, but each to their own.

Personally the on button switch on my Sony headphones is far easier and I have all the controls I need on the headset to never even have to touch the phone which can be the other side of the house.

I don't know how many on here have access to college emails?
    BUT!
If you do, and you haven't still yet set up a studentbeans account...
    Do it quick!

I got an email this morning with a 10% off Oneplus 7T offer.
Its not a referral link so I can't share it but if you have college email, its not to be sniffed at.

Small gotcha: it's "up to" 10% off the order.
The device is capped at 5% discount, only accessories are eligible for the 10%.

Anyone know where to get a tempered glass screen protector for the 7T Pro? Will 7 Pro protectors fit? (I think the screen dimensions are the same?)

    Externally, both phones are identical.

So big question, when will the price drop ?

Still on the 5 and even after many drops and a swim in a lake it's still going strong !

If the price drops on the 7T or pro a decent bit id most likely go for it to treat myself ! :D

    Ordered today for delivery tomorrow.

The ones on AliExpress will probably take a while to get here, you'll have to deal with them not OP for repairs and the charger won't be uk/irish. Apart from that the phone will function the same.

    No idea on 3 availability!

Perfect and done except I prefer Parcel Wizard as they deliver to the door ;)

A bit surprised that the 7T Pro I ordered today has already shipped. These guys have really learned how to run a slick logistics operation.

Do you think you'll get yours tomorrow?

I ordered the 7T Pro this morning, along with the USBC earphones to try them out.
I paid the extra €9.99 for quicker delivery, but I doubt it'll be in my hands by the weekend sadly!

I ordered this morning too and got a text from DHL this afternoon saying delivery is expected tomorrow. I was really surprised by that, never had it this fast.

Add import duty and taxes onto that too. It will not slip through customs. Just buy from 1+ for peace of mind all round.

Thinking of getting this myself. Upgrading from one plus 5. Only thing putting me off a little is that j won't be able to connect to my car radio as no Jack and my car doesn't have Bluetooth so any recommendations on how to get around that?

Think I'll get the frosted silver version. Which colour are most going for?

You'd need to buy the 3.5mm to USB C adapter

Aye, I'm told Tuesday, kinda regret paying 9.99 now for speedy delivery when it sat in Szczecin, Poland over 24h before leaving! Departed there at 18:24 today.

Ah well, just a pity. I don't think DHL do Saturday deliveries anyway.

Ordered the 5 dash charger for €26.99 delivered.

50 euro plus delivery for the new one is silly money, even compared to apple.

Now I'll need to arrange selling my existing phone! :)

So tomorrow is the big day for many of us. I believe there's a OnePlus switcher app on the Play store which allows us to transfer all apps and settings to the new device fairly easily.

Anyone got any experience of it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,331 ✭✭✭✭drunkmonkey

Yes it's simple move from any Android to the one plus. It's called OnePlus Switch.

Thinking of pulling the trigger on a OnePlus 7T - coming from the 5T and in need of an upgrade. What are people's thoughts so far, and what other similar device should be considered before buying?
