Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Another fine example Fine Gael. TD claims full expenses including checking into the Dail even though he spent the last two years in Brussels.

€100,000 a year in salary and €51,000 a year in expenses? For a TD!

A Minister gets the same, and then a second salary for the office they hold. So €100,000 a year salary, €25,000 - €51,000 a year in expenses, Ministerial salary of €41,000 to over €85,000 (Taoiseach) and then they also have Ministerial expenses.

Varadkar spent nearly €176,000 on the Taoiseach credit card in the last year. In the two years since he took office he also spent €400,000 on food and drink for "engagements" and over €500,000 on videos for social media/propaganda. So in Two years he has cost an estimated €1,500,000.

Why do we have a President that cost double that if the Taoiseach is doing the same functions?

Its not just the money, the lies and the fraud committed by Fine Gael party its the things that are not as publicised.

The Ryan Commission in to child sexual abuse has had figures that were drastically undervalued. the figure of 170,000 abuse victims is only about 25% of the actual numbers. Then there are the steps Fine Gael have taken to obstruct and destroy these victims including:
    • Removing the three commission reports into the child sex abuse fromt eh FOI Act. IOW you cannot get the information.
    • Seal away records for 75 years so no one can get the information
    • Introducing legislation that makes it illegal for people that are victims to discuss or write about their abuse
    • The above point has led to victims not coming forward for fear of prosecution
    • No legislation for people to get their own records of adoption.

There are more things done. Watch this video and see what FG are doing to victims of sexual abuse and think of the court "sentences" of abusers and it might become clear what is happening in "Gud ould Catholic Ireland".

    https://twitter.com/rtebrainstorm/status/1169197547027607552?lang=en

As this is the same FG Government that says it's sorry to the victims of the cervical smear scandal but continue to make them fight in court and then use the same company to continue getting testing done, is it a shock?:(

Watching the unfolding story of the shooting in London and something has just been said by a Police officer, higher ranking one.

Reporter - It seems that members of the public were first to confront and try to apprehend the suspect?
Police officer - Yes, and this will always be the case.

Yet guns, RTKBA, knives, spray, stun guns, forks, poo on a stick are all illegal for the public to own. Only terrorists and criminal scum can have such things.

These incidents are because society is breaking down in the UK and across much of Europe, Malmo in Sweden is a mess and is only getting worse. There was an excellent Programme on BBC about the MET police, parts of london are war zones, stabbings and shootings over postcode gangs are rife, yet if the police do anything heavy, like stop and search, they are accused of being racist. They cannot win.

They were all on top of the attacker and suddenly the police got away and then he was shot. He must have had a bomb vest on.

Frankly i don't care what he had or did not. The police acted correctly and swiftly, but if history is anything to go by you'll see some or all of the police team on trial within a year for offending someone's sensibilities.

I cant remember if it was the French or the English that said, if confronted with a situation like that, they would shoot first and find out after, if the person had something on them or not. You cant argue with that logic in fairness.

My opinion is who am i to question the Cop on the scene in the moment.

We speculate, and rightly so, on many events, their causes, outcomes, and the rights and wrongs of it. However in a split second, and after the civilians have cleared off him, the cop sees a bomb vest and reacts. Better one dead scumbag than dozens dead from the terrorist blowing himself up.

Coincides with this. Knife attack in Netherlands.

So a Polish lad went and grabbed a NARWAHL tusk out of the local fishmongers[a nice pointy bit of ivory about 5ft long in this case] and ran TOWARDS the sound of battle on London bridge.:D... [The Poles in FUN PL are issuing a Narwahl morale patch to commerate the event].

It's a sad state of affairs when Britions must defend themselves from depredation and attacks with bits of ivory, fire extingushers, beer bottles and plastic chairs and skateboards,as in the last attack, and have the Poles do their fighting for them again,[as in RAF,Battle of Britan, etc]

Wonder was the conversation aftr the event like this ? "Oi mate! You got a liscense for that pointy thing there?...No?Your'e nicked mate for avin an offensive ..er..weapon in a public place an for attackin that poor defenceless terrorist goin about his lawful busisness!" In the UK these days,it wouldn't surprise me.

    2. The CEO of a similarly sized organization as a Department of health or finance would likely earn ten times that.
    3. To protect the constitution primarily, and prevent coups. His role could not be more different than that of Taoiseach. Recall that the late Brian Lenihan senior contacted President Hillary to appeal for emergency government power for CJ Haughey and Fianna Fail, a fact he later denied. Hillary rightly refused. The president is also our leading ambassadorial diplomat. It's partly a public figure/celebrity role these days. He's paid less than some RTE presenters.

Except our system of govt is modeled on the US system. Where all three branches of the executive must be in lock for legislation to pass.Ever since that Irish American school teacher from Buree, went and fuked it up in the 30s,this has never happened. The office of president has no veto power of law or executive .
The Senate here is a expensive retirement home for also rans, had beens ,wannabes, comeback kids,no hopers, academics who hate everything in the West and is an utter oligarchy of political parachute ins, or that can be elected only by people who attend the "right"universities in Dublin! And WE have the audacity to criticize other countries about their bad goverments???
So ,umm...yeah ,value for money in a CEO in google VS a mobile rubber stamp and attached at the hip wife, that praises Socialist 3rd world hell holes ,were people are eating garbage and their family pets...?

There is no persecution because of the salary of a TD. There is "judgement" on someone earning over €2,000 a week needing €1,000 a week extra for "expenses".

Especially one that has the lowest Dail attendance, but someone managed to "clock in" while pending the last two years in Brussels. So cherry picking a single point and ignoring the context of the post does not support your rebuttal.
    2. The CEO of a similarly sized organization as a Department of health or finance would likely earn ten times that.
Yup, and a private company is not in the least bit the same as a public office.
    3. To protect the constitution primarily, and prevent coups.
I know what the constitution says, but in real world situations, what is the difference? The President has no veto power and the best he can exercise is a 7 day "stall" of an financial legislation to confirm its legal. At which point s/he must sign it.
His role could not be more different than that of Taoiseach.
My point is the President is meant as a figure head (to represent and "advertise" Ireland to the world) so the Taoiseach should not be spending the vast sums of money he is trying to do the same.
He's paid less than some RTE presenters.
That is a weak argument. The President is paid less than a lot of others not only in Ireland but around the world, however the argument, or more accurately my argument, is not to validate the position of President it is to criticise the expenditure of the office of the Taoiseach on functions that are best served by the President (seeing as how we have one, he might as well fulfill a role).

As the Dail oversees its own expenses and wages including pay rises and pensions ( non contributory ones at that) there is no real oversight bar a expense account committee for "show".

I've often defended, if that is the right word, the high wages of CEOs, company directors, even charity chairmen. In a capitalistic system you get paid what the market will bear, and bonuses are paid on a performance basis. Whether i think what Zuckerberg or Bezos gets paid is morally right or not is irrelevant.

Ireland is a Republic. Those in the Dail represent us and they work for us, not the other way around. Even if you don't agree with my points about their salaries and expenses you must agree that the wanton waste of public finances on Hospitals, voting machines, commissions (that are buried), tribunals, foreign aid, etc. is a result of mismanagement that in Google or Amazon or any other company would see the CEO fired/sacked.

    ****BREAKING NEWS****

EToJ rejected the Czech case against the Directive, based on the grounds of public safety, as expressed in the following:

"With a view to abolishing border controls within the Schengen area, the Firearms Directive established a harmonised minimum framework for the possession and acquisition of firearms and their transfer between Member States. To that end, that directive lays down provisions concerning the conditions subject to which various categories of firearms may be acquired and held, while laying down, on the basis of requirements of public safety, that the acquisition of certain types of firearm must be prohibited.
In response to certain terrorist acts, the European Parliament and the Council adopted, in 2017, the contested directive in order to introduce stricter rules for the most dangerous, deactivated and semi-automatic firearms. At the same time, that directive also intends to facilitate the free movement of certain weapons by laying down inter alia marking rules."

At the same time let me quote Article 84 of the EU Treaty:

"The European Parliament and the Council, acting in accordance with the ordinary legislative procedure, may establish measures to promote and support the action of Member States in the field of crime prevention, excluding any harmonisation of the laws and regulations of the Member States."

PROMOTE, SUPPORT and EXCLUDING ANY HARMONISATION.

Yet, the EToJ has rejected the case, thus breaking the EU Functioning Treaty.

Do you still under any illusion, that the ruling is not a political one?

Maybe now people will realise the TV/news and other media are lying to you. I know it's only an exit poll and the same type of polling data was used in 2016 to say hillary was going to win, but even if it off by 10% it's still a Conservative majority.

Corbyn is toxic to Labour and twice the party had a chance to remove him and didn't. Maybe now they will.

There is always room for something, but two years ago the Con. needed the DUP to maintain a Government and the DUP wanted to stay. They also had to put up with a 268 seat Labour party that opposed EVERYTHING regardless of content.

Now they have the majority and such a majority that even with some "defectors", within their own party, against Brexit happening the Conservatives will have enough to vote it through.

The eu ? Well there was a German economist on the telly the other night saying that Von der leydens new plan for a "Green deal", could lead to the current eu's entire budget doubling or even more, for very little return as most of the eu countries are already low carbon. France has the most nuclear power plants and she wants rid of them too, dunno why as nuclear is no problem carbon-wise, so thats either going to lead to a massive bill to demolish and replace them, or the french will tell her to get knotted and thats another major row. Maybe the Brits are getting out before the subs to the eu spiral.

Ms Von der Leyen, who is heading this week on her first foreign trip to Addis Ababa, said that she wanted to emphasise her and the commission’s commitment to Africa by a visit to the headquarters of the African Union.

That's if the Luftwaffe VIP transport jet can get Ushi & Co down there for some press and virtue signalling.Seeing her disasterous handling of the German defence portfolio has left the entire German Heer in a worse condition than what it was in May 1945,it's questionable that the Luftwaffe VIP jet is even airworthy at the present time, since some gobdaw poked it with a forklift earlier this year, after it had to be grounded after some technical problems with Merkel aboard on the way to some climate change hoaxers convention.:D:D:D:D

    We are on a losing trip with the EU for two reasons;

    1. US geopolitical policy - Trump is going isolationist again and EU, Russia, China do not figure in the plan either economically or militarily, mostly due to declining demographics in all 3.

    Long video, but once you start, you will watch it all and want more;

    2. Grizz is right about climate change, it's a fraud, take it from me as a chemist. I have read a lot of scientific papers in the last year, looking to find proof that CO2 is causing climate change/warming. Looking at ice core data, at no stage in the geological record has CO2 increased before temperature. Looking at the chemistry of the atmosphere, CO2 is not capable of warming the planet, even at huge levels. Two Irish scientists have proven this using weather balloon data (the temperature records are being "adjusted" as we speak, but they have not got to the balloon data yet).
So the EU is proposing trillions of our money in spending on a folly, including compensating nations affected by climate change.

I'd highly recommend everyone reads two books[kindle] or amazon if you prefer paper. "Watermelons The Green movements true colours" by Peter Dingpole,he's the guy who broke the Climategate scandal[Remember that one?Be hard pushed to find that one these days]
and "Green Tryanny Exposing the totalitarian roots of the climate industrial complex "by Rupert Darwall and an industry is right. It is worth almost half a Trillion dollars globally at this point in time ,if not more.

Read them with an open mind, and if you dont come away with the feeling we are being sold a very dangerous pup that has changed from Communist Red to Eco Green, then you are a lost cause.

Watched it, then watched most of it a second time. That was educational, informative, eye opening and i'd be truly interested if some of his predictions come to pass. Great video.
    2. Grizz is right about climate change, it's a fraud, take it from me as a chemist.
I remember this war cry from when i was a teen and that was 30+ years ago. Every decade Al Gore or some other "celebrity" was decrying our way of life and saying the sky was falling. Then it never happened so we got the excuse of the "wrong model" but now it's coming in the next ten years.

I'm not a believer in most conspiracy theories and i'll chose doubt over belief when i'm not sure. My reason for saying this is the data, actual hard data, does not support it (the climate change narrative that is). We are being fed, i won't say lies, but a certain portion of the narrative and being blinded to the whole picture. Recently even David Attenborough was found to be doing this. He done a documentary which showed Walrus falling to their death off a cliff because of climate change. He never mentioned that this happened back in the 80s and also failed to elaborate on the population explosion due to a ban on hunting and the fact that all the animals chose the same spot to return to to breed.

The same with the "starving polar bear" picture. It was shown to be a "false flag" climate repercussion and the Nat. Geo had to apologise for their story and documentary.

The numbers being cited by the UN have been, according to one side of the argument, falsified and massaged to support the agenda of the UN, and the papers which support climate change claim to have thousands of Doctors and scientists signatures, but again they fail to mention that some of those signatories are Professors/Doctors of English, Math, history, and every other topic not even remotely associated with a basic understanding of climatology, meteorology, etc.

Then we move onto the celebs that bash us for not making a difference while jetting around the world, a 16 yr old with learning difficulties that has never suffered a days hardship in her short life, and bartenders from New York politicians that speak out of the side of their mouths for the sole purpose of scaring the living s**t out of us while using the imaginary or perhaps more aptly named, unproven, claim that it [climate change] will kill us all in 12, sorry 9 years.

Even if it were all true what solutions have they offered? Workable ones that are based in reality and not on Unicorn farts and fairy dust.
So the EU is proposing trillions of our money in spending on a folly, including compensating nations affected by climate change.
An exposé by the BBC [i think] into the EU (Parliament, commission, etc) about 4 years ago showed the vast and i mean VAST sums of money they pay themselves and award themselves in salary, benefits, school allowances for their children, travel, clothing, staff, etc. and as climate change will be a never ending issue it is the golden Goose of revenue streams.

Then look at how they spend, what they do actually spend, on the "problem". 64% of recyclable waste is not recycled in the UK and Ireland. Manufacturers of products list what is recyclable and what is not and if you look carefully, as i have, you'll be shocked at the amount of packaging that is not actually recyclable. Wind farms and solar power is a pipe dream that accounts for less than 1% of total power requirements in most countries and less in most other countries. It has devastating effects on wildlife, habitat, and CO2 footprint in the manufacturing process is in most cases far more than what the item will return in power production.

We can do more to keep things cleaner and recycle more, but that focus should be on the offenders and not those that are currently improving. China, India, and America are the three largest producers of waste/CO2 in the world. America has dropped it's output by almost 2% in the last few years to 15% of the world total while China and India have increased their output to a combined total of over 65%, in just TWO countries.

9 out of the 10 most polluted rivers are in Asia. They import other countries waste and dump it in rivers and other methods which are not even in the slightest way renewable. They are increasing their coal burning plants, manufacturing plants and other CO2 producers, but the focus by Greta and her ilk is steadily focused on countries that are improving and where she will not be "put up against a wall" for voicing her opinion while the true culprits are given a pass for fear of economical and social persecution for something as simple as accusing them.

    Hey young fellah!:D
Some of us old curmudgeons can remember being told this stuff back in the early 1970s in school. We should be under or on a 2.5mile thick glacier that we were assured would cover Ireland down to about the Dingle peninsula.

Then ,between being being assured of nuclear armageddon, and nuclear Winter[started by the evil Americans of course,],we were assured we wouldnt be able to go outside unless we dressed like extras from a rubber fetish porn film due to acid rain!! Then it was forest die back, then ozone holes at the poles, then glaciers retreating,or advancing, too much or too little snow on the mountains, cant remember which...Then the Amazon rain forest should be long gone by now as according to WWF,and green peace ,a 100 square miles per DAY were bing destroyed,so they must be at the border of Sthn Mexico by now at that rate of logging, which was about the early 1990s..

Then the bigget snake oil salesman ever,Al Gore,[the guy who claimed to have invented the internet]came out with his fraud film an inconvient truth[or an inconvient lack of non faked evidence] and started this panic off further, and now strangely we are back to the belif in global cooling,as the sun goes into a 8 year little or no sun spot activity. So back to were we were 54 years ago.
So excuse me if I am a tad skeptical!!

Now we have an unqualified in anything autistic Swedish teenager berrating the world and to belive the science...I do alright, the science that says this is the biggest SCAM and CON JOB ever pulled on mankind.

With faked evidence,no logical debate, but plenty of ad hominen attacks ,and deplatforming on any who dare challenge the "settled science" and not buy into the childrens crusade of the 21st century,I see history of the prevous century starting to repeat ifself under a Green jackboot on one foot and a Red one on the other.

Makes my blood boil every time I hear "97% of scientists agree.."

Eminent figures have been fired, ostracised, have had funding removed along with various ways of being silenced if they speak truth to power on this issue.

And the recent reports of "11,000 scientists call for action on climate" was an online petition from a climate website signed by Arts majors, social scientists, climate activists and one person named Mickey Mouse.

And by the way, if someone has a degree with "Science" in the title, it's not science.

    Rant part 2;

The Obamas just bought a $15m house by the sea somewhere salubrious in the US.

The biggest proponent of climate catastrophe and sea level rise.

If you're reading, Mr. and Mrs. Obama, I will gladly swap my house for your new one by the sea, if you are worried about sea level/melting glaciers making it worthless.

Wel Al Gore bought a 9million beachfront property ...in 2010...Would have thought a mountain top retreat would be a smarter investment going by him claiming the oceans would rise and flood out the LA basin as well as Dublin??

Did a bit of researsch on the 190"professors & scientists" that signed the first Fridays for future "protest manifesto here in Dublin...Intresting to note, that about SIX of them from TCD,UCD,Trinity, etc have any sort of qualification even remotely related to weather, athmospherics, etc...Unless it is cunningily disguised in courses like "modern dance and jazz music history." As one such worthy academic teaches.

One of the top independent climate scientists in this country(Prof Ray Bates) has been effectively banned from RTE after he called out the BS on the matter during a debate on Prime Time with Eamon Ryan a couple of years ago. We now have to put up with the likes of George Lee who RTE present as some sort of climate "expert" - "clown" would be closer to the truth!!

I was looking at some of the guardianista's on twitter when magic grandpa lost the election in the UK last week. Anyone who disagree's with their line, is automatically branded something, a facist or something like that and shunned. Much as i dislike Pier Morgan, his taking the piss out of them was priceless :D
