That's an unusual statistically distinction to have. I don't think should lay the high unemployment solely at his feet, so I'd question why we solely credit him for a decrease that started in 2010.

The wars point is something that gets thrown about alot. Sometimes with varying logic on how war is defined. He certainly participated in wars, as much as the previous.
Obama inherited Afghanistan, so did Trump, so will Biden. Iraq depends on how you date it.

Nixon also started no wars, as he inherited Vietnam. "Started" isn't a good measurement for a warmongeriness of a president imo.

He must have lost substantial support so from the people that originally voted him in.

I think its the American electoral college system. Killary had more people vote for her over Trump, but because of the system he still won.

I read somewhere that Trump lost a lot of votes from the white higher educated voters which doesn't surprise me.

He made a complete balls of trying to manage the Covid pandemic with 400,000 lives lost under his watch, he was impeached twice and left office with millions more unemployed than when he entered.

He refused to acknowledge defeat and then caused the riots in Capitol Hill just to top off his legacy. What a guy.

It hit everyone offguard, Germany is a very well run country, none of the gob****e-ism we have to suffer here, and they are in a right mess with the virus and the vaccine roll-out, Merkel is up in arms over it.

An interesting twist, counties in Texas voting for 2nd amendment sanctuary, meaning federal gun control laws would have no impact on them

    Mellor wrote: »

The point is you can't credit a president with being responsible with low unemployment if you aren't going to credit them with the highs.
The reality is, there are extenuating factors in both.
Covid for the highs, obviously. For the lows, it's been trending down for a decade.

It definitely would. But I'm not sure how we're measure that objectively.
    Drone strikes? deaths? troops?

Covid caught a lot of people off, and in many cases there is nothing you could have done.
But many countries made really bad decisions, many leaders publically mishandles it, and just fcked up to be blunt. They should be open to criticism for those decisions.

Example, Boris going to a covid ward and making a point of shaking everybodies hand. Then announcing he did so. Then catching covid. Not the actions of a smart or competent leader.

Anyone else notice petrol/Diesel prices creeping up?

Read an article in the Mirror last night on it and it says that while the price of a barrel of oil has risen, slightly, it should only cause a 1p/1.2c increase at the pumps but that price hike is being applied immediately by the vendors (petrol stations) instead of when the "new" shipment of fuel/oil arrives and the addiditonal 3 to 4p/c rise is simply down to the stations adding it on due to the significant drop in usage (between 55 - 63% drop in consumption since the start of the lockdowns).

That'll be those commie bastards and their capitalist EUSSR overlords with thair climatist plangenda. Wait until those anarchist antifa software billionaires activate that 6G chip in us from the rushed Big Pharma polio vaccine in the false flag epidemic of the 1950s, and we won't even notice that Cuba won't let us cut turf any more!

Yes - the obvious cartel being operated in many towns/cities is beyond laughable at this stage as is the obvious price gouging. All happening thanx to the sorry state of consumer protection in this country:(

Happening everywhere and the article was on about the UK too. Same thing happening there.

Minimal change in the price of oil, but disproportionate increase at the pumps.

Funny it never works in reverse this.Oil prices drop,it takes weeks to pass this onto the consumers.

They openly admitted to increasing their margins by not following the massive oil drop, during the first lockdown. Was listening to it on the radio a few months back, journo said their margin increased 63%.

I've observed similar so many times over the years in many sectors - when demand drops, they increase the price.

Clear evidence of a captive market, I'm afraid.

This country is simply too small for classical economics to work as it should in theory.

I live on a border of two counties (three actually, but one i have no permission on) and all my shooting permissions are in the other county. So even in local lockdown i'm screwed.

As you said not just lockdowns.

A few years back oil was up at something like $149 per barrel. It was one of the highest prices ever. At the pump it was on average €1.55 per litre (with highs of €1.61 p/l). When the price of a barrel dropped to $109 per barrel the price at the pumps only dropped to €1.50 perhaps even €1.47.

Last year oil was at $30 per barrel and the lowest i seen petrol (in my area) was €1.18 per litre. So the price per barrel was down by 80% but only 30% at the pumps.

I realise this is because of the taxes (all 4 or 5 of them) which keep petrol artificially high/ If petrol was free in the morning we'd still pay about €0.91 per litre in taxes anyway.

Seeing as how the Taoiseach broke lockdown rules to travel home what are the odds on him doing it again to make sure he can do the bowl of Shamrock thing with biden?

Also would this come into his thinking? Seems Shamrock delivery is non essential.

So much for his "I'm Irish and love all things Irish, and have Irish relatives in Mayo, and just keep me outta Ireland if there is an invitation going" Plastic Paddy malarkey from that old fraud.

Of course Mehole will be over to bow and scrape and simper with his now not made in Ireland"Waterford Crystal" fruit bowl on March 17th.
Ah well, we won't have to worry about not getting a few quid from them for transporting troops thru Shannon.
Sniffer has turned on the War machine again, and we'll be back in business soon enough wiping out wedding parties with million-dollar drone strikes in the Middle East:rolleyes:

Lucky enough to have sea, lake and river fishing all within the 5km of the house here, too early for salmon or trout so hit the salt water on the coming tide for a couple of hours. Nice and peaceful even if it was a little chilly.

Had to call it a day a bit early when 5 ladies arrived and went for a swim, their dogs declined to join them despite shouts of encouragement.
