    I'll just translate that:
I have heard through the grapevine that 107.1 is to become active in the coming days.

Sorry about that - it just got to me!

I take it that your partner's venture Soul City has gone then?
Yeah its gone for the moment will be retuning around January

107.1 isn't as good a frequency as it once was. The new Newstalk relay on 107.2 (Athlone I believe) is stretching into Dublin West.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,871 ✭✭✭JDxtra

87.6, 91.6 and 93.2 are the only frequencies I can think of that are not normally allocated to temps and are relatively clear.

    HEAT now on 107.1.

Christmas FM on 105.2 and 88.1 in Dublin (old TXFM and Rince frequencies)

Since Phever came back on 91.6 it has super strong signal.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,871 ✭✭✭JDxtra

Phever have upped their game. Sounding great and whopper of a signal with plenty of live shows. It's what a modern dance station should be.

87.7, 88.8, 107.9, 105.7 and 99.0 to 99.2 seem to be okay for low-power stations in different areas of the west of the City. I think 101.2 - 101.5 might be okay for some parts of Dublin. What about 91.9 or 92.0 - that seemed to work for Soul City? And, of course, low-power stations in north Dublin has not happened in quite some time!

107.2 in Dublin should be easily killed by a Newstalk relay from Athlone. Perhaps it's Newstalk from Mt Leinster getting into areas shielded by the Dublin Mountains?

XMAS sounding good on 88.1, 99.4 and 105.2 in Rathcoole tonight anyway. Didn't get a chance to check the other stations while I was at it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,624 ✭✭✭Infoanon

Heat are now on 107.1 - with XMAS on 99.4 its a good move.

XMAS on 107.3 relatively clear on the Southside

87.6 NLR is back on - using a different name - Chill - last time that was used in Dublin was circa 2004

I presume 107.3 is from Bray Head? 96.2 East Coast from Bray Head is fairly easily received, especially in areas not shadowed by the mountains (it's very strong in Santry and Coolock even).

Surprised they were given a "Newstalk" frequency all the same.

yes that's right. it was only an automated mix cd though with a very occasional live show. as for nlr, they have been playing a lot of chillout music the past while as well as reggae and relatives.

Bandscan from the viewpoint at Barnagh on the N21 near Newcastlwest, Co. Limerick. This site is ideal as there is clear line of sight for 100km+ in some directions with little in the way of hills facing to the NE and E direction. It's also shielded to the west somewhat,

Good conditions over the past few days, was getting Spin SW last night on 102.9 (listenable, but no RDS) on south ring road Cork city, it would not usually be audible there. There are two Spin transmitters in Co. Kerry on that frequency, undoubtedly it was from Kilkeveragh Mt in the south west of Kerry rather than the nearer but lower powered/lower height Killarney 102.9.

(what would be otherwise more likely to be heard in Cork of the Spin SW frequencies such as 94.7,102.7 are just 0.1 from strong local signals)

    Dublin today

    87.6 Chill
    91.6 Phever
93.2 silent carrier with rds all80s
107.1 dance music no rds assume it was Heat

  • Registered Users Posts: 28,997 ✭✭✭✭end of the road

107.1 is heat. 93.2 is easy.

The guy behind Easy reinvented it a year or two ago as True80s for a few months. I wonder is the rds All80s just some weird coincidence.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,224 ✭✭✭radioguru02

In dublin at the moment no 93.2 is not easy as i said above there is a silent carrier with rds, maybe it'll b a relay of the internet station all80s

Interesting development. Whopper of a carrier - seems stronger than Easy Radio before it. Easy were just yesterday plugging 93.2 so a bit odd. Maybe the previous owners of the gear on 93.2 could have fired it back on again over powering Easy Radio?

Note that All80s is an existing online station that has been doing quite well. It was also previously on the DAB trial.
