Just saw this now through the Xbox.

I'd been keeping an eye on it as I was waiting to start it.

I wasnt overly annoyed about the previous issues and delays but I'm a bit annoyed now.

First they said it was January. Then it was a Jan/Feb patch with the Jan patch downplayed in scope. And now its another month again.

If I didnt have the disc version and there was a way to refund it, I'd have done it now.

I'd say there's very little point in waiting. Play it as it is, it's not a bad game, and it's never going to be what we were promised anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,578 ✭✭✭EoinHef

Having refunded on playstation, was a bit hesitant to get it on PC instead before a few patches but saw if for €30 so said i might aswell. Also got a new 3080 so thought was a good game to try it out.

Played about 15hrs,enjoyed it,I like the game. Did encounter a few weird bugs though so said ill wait for the 1.2 patch to continue, which was about 2 weeks ago.

Shame they didn't make the date but I do feel that the attack has taken it out of their hands. If the game had launched to critical acclaim and everyone loved it I doubt this delay would be felt so keenly.

In the context of how the game actually launched though, its just another thing for people to beat them over the head with. As much as the problems were their own making i bet CDPR would love to go back and do it differently. It does feel like a bit of a dumpster fire:P

Don’t know why people are gloating over this hack online, it’s just going to slow any fixes or patches.

What was the Sean Murray swipe?

I actually feel sorry for them now. The hack was just kicking someone, when they are down.

I think it is best for them to shut up and working on the patch and update everyone in a couple of months, when they have something to show for it.

There is definitely a good game here, if they can fix there mess.

I'm not entirely sure if the hack really had much of an impact on the schedule of patches or whether that was once again CDPR lying to cover up incompetence. From the moment they downplayed the January patch (whereas previously they made out it was part 1 of two major patches) I knew the second patch was doomed.

I work in enterprise app development, and a few years ago we had a small number of machines infected with a virus, and we were down for little over a week cleaning things up and making sure things were secure. Thankfully, the only damage was lost time, no data or anything was lost or stolen. The type of attack we had was relatively minor compared to what is being described by CDPR.

I can well believe that they lost 2 or 3 week at least to this initially, and there seems to be ongoing issues, with stolen source code and not to mention employee data.

Now, they could be using the attack as an excuse, and they could have been well behind already. If we don't see a patch in March, then I reckon you are right in your estimation.

I'd give some sympathy to the actual development team - trying to fix a game as broken as this one while working from home is a genuine challenge I'm sure (with or without a major hack), especially with a management team like CDPR's. Throwing out dates is also a shortcut to delays, as CDPR should well know after many uses of a certain yellow text box.

That said, I think CDPR have a big problem to overcome when the patches do drop: apathy. This isn't a game that requires people to stick around for months after release... most players will have moved on by the time the big patches drop, simply because it's a single player game. Very possible they'll surprise us and have some much-needed mechanical overhauls in some of these initial patches, but the substantial new content seems very far away at this stage - and the free DLC (which, if it's similar to Witcher 3 standards, will be relatively minor) will be so long after the fact that I can't see people flocking back for a quest or two and a few new clothing items. Hopefully their ambitions for the free updates are a bit grander than that - they probably have to be at this rate, TBH!

If ever a game was in need of a major expansion pack, it's this one - and I'd be surprised if we see it drop before 2022, which would be a long time after release. They have the benefit of a large install base, but motivating people to boot it up again months or a year after the fact will be a bit of a challenge.

Really is there any saving it? From what I've seen of it watching herself playing it on PC even if they fix the bugs it's nothing out of this world as a game and even if it ran flawlessly it was never living up to the hype. To top it off this was meant to / maybe still has multiplayer down the track and I can only imagine what state that is in.

This hurts them going forward too with what ever they do next. My money is on them returning to their bread and butter but given the development cycles they have we'll see the next Witcher game in what 2025-26

The word Icarus comes to mind now.

Loved it, one of the best games I have played. I have put it aside and await a couple patches and the xbox series x becoming available and then I'll dive back in and play it again for hopefully an even better experience.

Has anyone run into a bug in the mission
    Chippin in

I have the first part completed and now waiting on a call and it has not come, only thing I have not done is skip time but I'm not sure it will work.

Its the last mission I have before going to the point of no return.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,165 ✭✭✭Cordell

I remember the mission but I don't remember any issue with it.
But I had other missions that were stuck, or progressed only after the next mission was triggered, one of the fixers went like that, I was only getting the mission complete phone call and reward when I was approaching another one that belonged to the same fixer.

Finished this at the weekend. I rather enjoyed it overall. The overarching main mission line is pretty good (not amazing, not terrible) but does have a bit of satisfaction to it. The side missions really are where the colour is in this game though, thoroughly enjoyed the variety they provided. Think I put about 60 hours into it in total and none of that felt particularly empty or wasted.

    Got the ending where
Johnny and Alt break into Arasaka tower, which I thought provided great closure to their story. At the end I chose to let Johnny join Alt while V continues on solo (for a while at least). The last scene where you're shooting through space to the space casino certainly leaves plenty of options for expanding on the story.

Overall, probably a 7.5/10. Would be a 8.5 without the bugs that become prolific the further you get into the game.

Play the other endings and make sure you are super buddies with desert girl and vr porn girl.

I got a lend of this to play on my OG PS4. I was prepared for it to be janky and whatnot, but it crashed during the install, and now, having installed, it can't get as far as the title screen. Keeps crashing giving the CE-34878-0 error. So, should I abandon any hope of playing it? Or is there some tinkering with settings that can be done? Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,165 ✭✭✭Cordell

It is bad, but not THAT bad :)
So if it crashed during install and it cannot even start it may be something wrong with the installation or even with your PS4.

Nothing wrong with my PS4, apart from it being old. It installed and asked for the play disc, but then wouldn't load. I'm install it again though so we'll try that.

You should have prepared yourself for it not to work - it doesn't work which is why everyone was refunded.

From what I heard so far it's really bad on base PS4 and XBO, but it runs. It's runs slow, with crashes and streaming issues, but you should be able to play it, even though it's going to be a painful experience.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 621 ✭✭✭dohboy

Finding this to be fairly uninspired so far, about eight hours in. Loads of exposition and talking, bewildering menu system, bullet sponge enemies, stealth bits pinched from Watch Dogs 2 but not at all intuitive. Also started playing on Hard but was getting killed a lot so changed to Normal and now it feels a little too easy. The world is cool but the gameplay seems a bit Poundsaver Far Cry.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,165 ✭✭✭Cordell

You had very little issues on PS4 because you stopped playing :)

Cyberpunk got nominated for 4 BAFTA Game awards:
    Artistic Achievement
    Narrative
Performer in a leading role (CHERAMI LEIGH, Female V)
Performer in a supporting role (CARLA TASSARA, Judy)

It's probably unlikely to win any of them, but still interesting, nonetheless.
I do agree that female V was the best lead performance, but male V and Keanu Reeves must be disappointed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,165 ✭✭✭Cordell

There was nothing special about male V and Keanu just read his lines, but Judy was a very memorable character.

I liked the Keanu Reeves performance. He played it like a cringey edgelord which i thought really worked given the context of the character and the world.

My thoughts exactly. The characters talk and behave by what they think is cool in their world. Not ours.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,157 ✭✭✭Markitron

I played about 8 hours, right up to the end of the prologue, and female V and Keanu were pretty good IMO.

Waiting for the proper PS5 version to crack on with the rest of the game.

But he wasn't a mere cringey edgelord, he was a narcissistic psycho that nuked a building just because he thought it was the right thing to do.

With all the rumours about large amounts of the game being chopped, I wonder if the economy was predicated on a much longer game. I'm a scrooge so I did bother selling all I could. Something I regard as a flaw/bug is that one of the abilities you can choose early on is to automatically convert junk into resources. I chose that early on before encountering junk items that were worth a considerable $750 They should have had a an on/off toggle for that.

Still, by the end of the game I could afford any car or thing I wanted, but once you get that calebsomething there isn't much point. They should knock at least a zero off the vehicle prices, because by the time you can afford them, you no longer need them due to the reward ones.

The other flaw is not having a bumper vision option when driving an enclosed vehicle. That is because in the car you are teeny weenie little midget who can barely see over the steering wheel, so you are completely blind to the road configuration ahead if you are approaching a decline in the road or are cresting a rise. Driving a vehicle from above and behind, third person, has always sucked in every game that has it.

These faults ensure that anyone who wants to get around quickly probably chooses a bike as their main form of transport.

It would be amazing if they continue working on the game so it becomes what was originally intended. The map is so amazing it feels only two thirds used, which I think reflects the original intent of a longer game with greater scope. A third should be free due to the launch problems and bugs, but I'd pay for an expansion beyond that.

You really are left wondering about the cuts and what got left on the long finger.

They seem intent on going with a minimum number of staff at CDPR. That leak of all their files won't help when it comes to other studios headhunting. Keeping it small, a revisist to the gangs. Flesh them out more. I don't think that 'Americas army' gang was fleshed out in the lore and it shows in the game. They in particular need a regig and a revisit, from the clothing up. Any type of of story format that brings a deeper look at the gangs.

I adore the gang minding the base' aspect, it's a contstant empty key when you know for definate that there will ony be a sparse few of the same again. 15 more quality attack/infiltrate the base missions.

Another 2 big long missions, similar to the Nakimura snipers mission with boss battles and all the rest.

Heafty transport. I don't care if it's to the moon, too some smaller city via flying/sea cargo cantainers. Something to take a long trip on and a ton of missions to go with it. Will they do it? I don't know.

The ability to sit down. It's so remis to not have that abilty in the game. CDPR are missing out on about 100,000 tweets of people just saying they are sitting somewhere taking in the view. There are people right now on deviant art just playing with the camera editor and mods placeing their own characters sitting around in the prescipted spots. That's how bad this is. That's first patch material before any add-on

I liked the game on the whole, but the shoddiness of the crafting system was one of the most jarring for me, especially after TW3 where I immensely enjoyed grinding away for certain swords, armor, potions, decoctions, etc. In this it just felt incredibly boring, limited, un-immersive, and frankly just not worth the effort. I checked back in on it a few times while playing, but never went beyond the initial 2-3 items I crafted early on if I recall.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,558 ✭✭✭✭dreamers75

What did you need money for?

Unless you trying to buy every vehicle I didnt need money at any point, always had loads.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,558 ✭✭✭✭dreamers75

I did all the handler missions and had millions from selling anything that wasnt legendary, all the best cyberware were found in the side missions.

once i got the porsche kinda stuck with that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,165 ✭✭✭Cordell

I did all the side missions and fixer missions as well, and I could barely afford the cyberwares I wanted, I had to save for the double jump legs.
I don't remember any interesting cyberware that I got from side missions.
I never sold weapons, I dismantled them for parts.
So I never had enough moneys to buy even the cheapest of cars, but strictly for getting around Jackie's bike is perfect.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,558 ✭✭✭✭dreamers75

I am 100% sure I got legendary cyberware from gigs, 101% I got the legendary mantis arms in a box on one of the Psycho Dudes gigs

Every legendary I had was found or gained in gig or side mission hence having millions :pac::pac:

edit just googled to confirm yes the legendary cyber does spawn in certain places on gigs.

Speaking of which, seems my good fortune has run out ever since the mission where you have to take out the three snipers. I'm getting silly things like open world activities not showing as complete even though I've completed them, crashes when driving into more visually busy areas, HUD remaining on the screen etc. Nothing that can't be fixed with a simple reload but annoying all the same.

I hit the same problem, but it can't be fixed by a reload. Areas I clear out don't show as cleared out, missions I complete don't show as complete etc.

I uninstalled (having thoroughly enjoyed it for a long time) and I'll come back to it at some point in the future when things have been patched.

I was thinking of giving it another go on PS5 but not if the update is coming soon or if it is just as bad as it was back in January.

Last time I played I had issues and bugs straight out of the character creation screen.
Basically the moment I was given control of the camera.

Has it been improved at all?

    Nope.

As a console only gamer I can say it's one of the worst games I've ever played for just having constant issues and bugs.

I'm think of Skyrim and Fallout 4 as examples that come close but even then they are nothing like this.

I’ve gone back to finish this as I was near the end when I lost interest previously.

The crashes remain an absolute disgrace on PS5. Absolutely one of the most fundamentally broken games I’ve ever played on a console. I’ll make allowances for COVID, but to have near hourly crashes not sorted several months and patches after launch is really not great.

Maybe now people will learn to stop pre-ordering games, especially from a company with a reputation for releasing unfinished products. It was the same for the Witcher 3 - not as bad as this, but I recall it wasn't good at all.

The Witcher 3 was nowhere near this bad at launch. Which isn't to say it was perfect (especially on consoles), but it was definitely in a substantially better state than this.

W3 also had the advantage of being a pretty great game even with a few rough edges, an advantage Cyberpunk alas does not enjoy.

W3 was fine at launch, the issue was his hair and puddles were not identical to the video at e3 2 years prior.

Witcher 3 had some heavy lighting downgrades iirc, but I don't think anyone sensible playing it was left feeling like they had misrepresented the game horribly

Ironically Cyberpunk feels the opposite, the lighting is a massive upgrade over the previews (on PC) just the game itself is as deep as a ham sandwich with a single slice of cheddar.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,578 ✭✭✭EoinHef

Ooh, gotta disagree with you there. I went back and watched the 2018 preview and while textures have improved, just about everything else is inferior. The preview looks more cinematic and photo realistic. The facial models are better too.Meredith Stout's hair and shadowing on her features is far better.

The PS5 still plays the PS4 version of the game so not surprising it wouldnt look great.

The poster did say its an upgrade on PC,having played both the Witcher 3 and cyberpunk on PC id have to agree. With ray tracing on its pretty impressive

I haven't played this since Christmas but i found my PS5 error log history recently and it's mostly Cyberpunk with a few random ones at PS5 launch. Was a bit jarring to see one game cause so many crashes and even more so to hear that it's still happening.
