    Cable being hung on poles outside my house today, this means a continuous line from Galway city to my house now. Didn't know they worked on Saturdays but good to see!

    That makes sense. I am right in the middle of two OLTs and my townland does not appear in either list but neighbouring townslands either side of me show up in one or other of the OLTs. I presume I will be added to one or the other based on the low level survey of one or the other.

    Edit: Actually found my townland on one of them afterwards. Thought I would be in the one that's being surveyed at the moment but in the neighbouring one :(

    I’d love to know what is going on with the Carrigaline rollout, several hundred houses have been pushed back to Dec 21-May 22 in the DA83 area. After this push back they added the list of townlands to the Carrigaline rollout plan which is currently being built yet most of the houses in some of the townlands are not being done for another 11-15 months. The only deployment area I can see in Cork being done at that time is Midleton but the only townlands added to Midleton are across the harbour in east Cork.

    I’ve asked NBI about it but they keep saying they’ll check it out and never get back to me. One person got back to me and said that sometimes townlands are split into two deployment areas but they have no idea what my deployment area is and there’s no sign of my townland or any this side of the harbour under the Midleton rollout plan, only under Carrigaline. I’m only 5km from Carrigaline but Midleton is 15km as the crow flies on the other side of the harbour. It’s very frustrating when NBI themselves don’t seem to have a clue as to what’s going on. They were cutting trees down the road in the past few weeks and said the cables would be going all the way down the road and then when I asked them a week later when they were out hanging the cables they said were stopping about half a km from my house!

    They’ve pushed back most of Monkstown and Rathanker and all of Passage, Glenbrook and Lackaroe until 2022, it makes no sense as the Carrigaline deployment area only had about 4,500 premises to do anyway so now I just want to know have we been added to Midleton or will they be coming back to Carrigaline after a year?!

    I have seen a load of NBI vans on the back road of cork airport all last week. They have putting in underground ducting and pulling the fibre in the ducts. Seems a lot of work putting in underground ducting....some days there could be 4 or 5 vans there , all for about 10 houses at max.

    No, that list is ordered by Rollout Area No. which is just a Dept. of Communications administrative function for the payment of the NBP subsidy.

    Look at the other column, Deployment Area Unique Number Identifier, these are the OLT Nos., 1-88 are enet OLT locations are are likely to be the first rolled out followed by OLTs located in eir exchanges 89-207 etc.

    There was Secto (NBI) workers installing lines in the cavan area this week. One of the workers informed me that work will be completed in the area within 2 to 3 weeks and then testing needs to take place after which time houses will then be connected to the network. (Not sure how long the testing takes??)

    It's from a government source. It is a few months old at this stage so that is why I'm not 100% confident in it. The targets are already behind. 115000 premises at end 2021 is now 70000. Whether the several months delay that they are now experiencing can be made up remains to be seen.

    I think using the ESB network is more of a theoretical concept at this point in time. I believe NBI are currently assessing whether using it would speed up their build.

    NBI van at the top of my drive now, 1 lad doing a survey. Not holding much hope for any movement this year.

    And as I type this another van pulled up. I asked 1 lad from a distance there and he said just a survey and no idea about rollout times.

    NbI workers outside my road pulling cables today, east cork area, a very rural road, a boreen.
    I saw them surveying out area middle of last year, and the NbI site had said we were surveyed then and due for availability dec 2020 to Feb 2021, but then late.last year we were reverted to "pending survey" with an expected date of dec 2021 to May 2022.

    Still shows the same status, even though they are pulling cables today, so hopefully the predicted dates are well out of date and pessimistic. We will be connected via midleton area.

    Same here, but NBI social media just say they don't know when we'll be scheduled for survey.

    The Rollout Area map shows "DA49" in pink, which is actually Rollout Area 49.
    Using the townlands link I found I am to be off Deployment Area 79.

    Using the google map of estimated DAs I think there are 3 DAs in RA49. Mine is the only DA below 88.


    I think there was a comment earlier that for business reasons, an RA would likely be completed in full before moving on to another RA.
    But another comment was that DAs 0-88 might be tackled earlier as lower hanging fruit.

    would that mean that DAs above 88 will be built out as part of green or lilac RAs, do you think?
    I wonder how many DAs above 88 the green and lilac Rollout Areas contain...

    I'm about 5km outside Roscommon town on the way to Lanesboro. NBI workers currently pulling cable and have attached a wrap of cable to the phone pole outside my house. All in the lashing snow. Spoke to one of them and confirmed they were doing the build works. Didn't want the tea, but great to see them.

    As far as the google map goes.....

    1. You're right, the original Department Map confusingly labelled Roll-out Areas with a "DA" prefix. The OLT locations on the google map don't have prefixes.

    2. The colouring has been removed from the google map because there was no obvious reason to retain it. Judging by the notifications, the OLTs around Cork City e.g., Grenagh, Tallow, in grey(lilac) areas, seem to be dormant, but Monaghan, Castlebar and Roscommon, in yellow and blue areas, are active.

    3. The relationship of aggregated deployment areas to roll-out areas also seems to have broken down or been changed.

    I'll see your 8 months and raise you a bit more. My place was surveyed in May last year and we're currently scheduled for Aug to Oct this year all going well.
