Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Most if not all of Raheen Industrial Estate is in Ballycummin so the centre could be in any of the unused units out there

Most restaurants and cafeterias in the city centre appear to be open for business as normal and busy. How can this be conducive to preventing the spread of the illness?

Probably end up getting closed by the end of the week. I know a few places are gone to take away only and the likes of Canteen implemented social distancing measures last week.

Post offices have a new opening time of 8am with the first hour to accommodate older folk.

Well they will require a large car parking area.. testing doesn't require you to leave the car so this is perhaps most logical place given proximity to hospital.

They won't need large carpark. Testing in Croke Park is by appointment only, takes about 10 minutes and only allows 8 vehicles at a time. It's unlikely to be any different in Limerick.

I'm looking forward to the first night Costellos opens again...never again will I take that place for granted...well, not initially anyway!!!
The cure to the virus could probably be found in the carpet there

How is that relevant to your claim that a large car park will be needed? Appointment only testing with a limited number of cases for each time slot, as is being done elsewhere, means that a large car park is not needed.

I went there this morning about 9.30.

Tesco of course was open, and fully stocked. The Eurogiant pound shop was open. Quay News (the paper shop) was open. The bookstall was closed but I'm not sure whether they're normally open at that time anyway. Didn't notice whether anything else was open.

    Upstairs was all closed off.

Think it's best to have this as an all information thread for anything Corona virus related in Limerick and major news you'd probably miss in the main threads.

As of Tuesday night there was no restrictions on numbers for Dunnes in the Jetland, whether that changed yesterday or today though I'm not sure.

The Wikipedia page on the coronavirus in Ireland now has a table showing cases per county:

OP here. I vaguely intended the thread to be "stay safe guys", "take things seriously", "wash your hands", "avoid this place" and so on for local people because the main coronavirus thread on Board had become an unusable firehose. But shop closures and other local virus-related things haven't overwhelmed this thread as yet so I think, for now, keep it the way it is has become.

No restrictions at 6 yesterday evening, but it was not busy. The madness of buying as much bog roll as can fit in your trolley has passed.

Anyone know of a supermarket or shop around that actually has disinfecting spray and wipes in stock? Maybe I'm just unlucky but I can't seem to find any.

Dunnes, Childers road has sprays alright, wipes were a problem. They weren't there unless you want to pay the premium for Dettol wipes. I'd prefer to buy the spray instead.

Herself indoors loves cleaning, would easily buy 5 packets of Jcloths per week and about 4/5 cleaning wipes. We have adapted to sprays now instead where they are in stock and not the exorbitant prices ones left.

As for me in Tesco the Cereal aisle was badly low on stock last weekend but seeing as I'm such an "old before my time" person my Sultana Bran own brand was very much in stock :D Seems some happily cleared the shelves of the 5.99 Cheerios and similar :O

Also Tesco, last weekend, had an outside agency assisting with stocking their shelves. Didn't catch the logo but they were in purple(I think) fleeces assisting restocking as quickly as possible.

Thanks, Berty. I'll try going first thing in the morning and maybe call to somewhere like Dealz too. Might have more luck there.

The shops are a bit strange at the moment with some shelves empty, some full and every place having a different system for disinfecting and distancing (or no system at all for some). Plus an eerie atmosphere.

I could also do with hand sanitiser but I'm sure I'd have better luck on the euromillions.

Unless you have the virus there's no point in wearing a mask. They don't protect you from getting it.

They aren't protective in the slightest, only worth anything if you have symptoms to stop you spreading it through coughing. I'd still like to know what the gob****es with 400 rolls of toilet paper thought they were stocking up for....

I don't want one to protect me from getting it.

My question is how available are they?

What do you need it for so? Pointless buying them if you don't have symptoms of some sort

What a strange question to ask. I would have thought the answer would be fairly obvious.

In my own case I live with an elderly parent.

I don't have symptons now but might have them tomorrow so having a mask handy would be beneficial.

Think mccabes have them if you need some genuinely, be warned though the price has sky rocketed thanks to the clowns who needlessly stockpiled them without having a clue about their effect. Hope you and yours stay safe :)

Had a flat tyre earlier and proceeded to change it when I see this guy running towards me with one of those air pumps you can use to help me and all i could think at the time was, how do i tell him to politely stay away from me lol

Just back from Jetland, looks like Dunnes have put restrictions in place. Queue of people, socially distant, waiting to get in down as far as B&B. Not sure what limits are in place as I didn't hang around. They seem to have a one-way system in operation as well.

Unsure if the other units are closed, CFW had their shutters halfway down, but there were staff in there, same with the off license. Cafes look closed, Carrig Doon is closed with sign on the window. Pharmacy still open.

Saw a sign in the newsagents in Arthur's quay advertising them for €3.50 so im guessing they have them in stock too.

I was in AIB Castletroy to put some money into my bank card.

Over at their online banking section there are two banking ports side by side. Two customers and two bank employees were very close together. Found it usually.

Would have been better if they only have one of the ports working

If you can't get any there are videos online from Chinese doctors showing people how to make them with kitchen roll, elastic bands and a stapler.

Went to dunnes jetland there. Queue to get in. took me about 10 minutes in the queue, 1 in 1 out. limiting numbers. 2 mtrs distance marked out, gloves and sanatiser available . was very well set up and run fair play to them.

Went out for a stroll earlier and two separate people said hello, just 50cm away from us, as they went past. On the other hand some others were clearly keeping their distance as we passed.

^^^ Hard to imagine that if you were one of the 14 people in Limerick with the virus you would be asking for assistance on Boards........;)
