Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I see what your saying. But theres no way I can believe Gary wasn't behind that. That was the whole reason the Monk had to step in and pay the money to save his life. And if he wasn't involved, why would they have killed him in Sept 2015?

You can bet your life if cancer had his time back he would have never had him murdered but he does have a huge ego and thought he was invincible, now he has to live in the desert for the rest of his life, equally the monk would never have attempted the Regency if he had any idea of the retaliation that was going to follow although if they got Daniel it wouldn't have been so bad.

I wonder about that. His life is changed now forever so you might think there are regrets but like was said many times these people don't think like everyone else, especially someone in his position with an ego like that. The hit on Gary was one thing, but it was the attempted hit on the Monk that was really the point of no return.

IMO the young relative took it upon himself and that's why "the monk" stood up for Gary, of which he didn't approve of some of the ****e he got up too.

If Gary wanted cancer dead would he have not brought in the infamous "hitman" after Gary was killed said "this won't end until cancer is dead" ?

What happened with Paddy Doyle that time?

Was it the kinahans behind it or the Turks or russians

That barrister that represents him, he represents the Hutches aswell. Is there not a conflict of interests there somewhere?

You have a point.. The way I always viewed it, just reading about it with limited information, was that it wasn't a very well planned attempted hit. and that it was a quick decision when they saw an opportunity rather than planning it out properly.

Him and WW went after Kirwans young lad

  • Registered Users Posts: 345 ✭✭40supple

That was his young lad who crashed the motorbike in Cabra last week and died as a result, only 19, would of been rough getting that news while in the nick.

He’ll be looking over his shoulder when he gets out for trying to clip duckeggs lad I’d imagine, wouldn’t fancy having that hanging over me, duckegg well respected throughout the innercity & further afield

Goes to show what the Gardai can do when they are given the means to. That's 10 people nicked for one attempt.

Would it be fair to say that particular feud must be just about finished?

I recall a SW headline the other month suggesting as much, didn't read it.

I'd imagine perhaps we have reached a stage where they have ceased targeting relatives and friends who had nothing to do with the Regency out of sheer spite.

It is, however, hard to imagine they will ever cease targeting people they believe had a direct role in the attack itself or who are of the criminal calibre to wreak revenge for what has already been done. IIRC two arrested the other week were after Derek Hutch's brother (the deceased Derek Hutch). It's hard to imagine them ever taking off the contracts on Gerry himself, the acquitted Patrick Hutch, his father, the imprisoned Derek Hutch (for no more reason than he's capable of revenge), Coakley if they believe he was involved (the guards insist they don't), Mago.

Makes you wonder how they have such a hard on for certain people despite only two gunmen from Regency being identified, if ever there was any truth what some said about a mole leaking Garda intelligence naming a dozen odd people involved in the logistics of the Regency.

Well someone has to order and pay for these hits. And a high ranking kinahan associate in the UK was nicked yesterday. If he goes down, I'd say that's pretty much the end of it for the time being.

The gardai don't deserve the praise! Rather than be proactive they were reactive the newspapers knew more, the killings of 2 innocent people forced their hand, "the cartel" had the run of the land before the innocent killings they're still running everything.

It'll never end too much has happened for it to ever really be over.

We were in torremolinos that may and met the monk in a bar. He was hammered which was odd as we thought he didnt drink. Knew he was stressed to the gills about something that day, realised after gary was murdered and the media reported the payment why

    That was the rumor.

It's simply amazing how nobody in the media wants to look at that case further. While the Byrne's aren't the nicest people in the world, on paper everyone deserves to have perpetrators of a crime against your family tried and punished. The acquittal without explanation is like something you'd see happen to a Putin crony in Russia.

Put it this way, suppose Gardai ended the round the clock protection in Champions Avenue, do you really think the man in there would last very long? I doubt he would see Christmas..

It begs the question, at what stage will the Garda car parked outside leave Patsy Hutch's house?

    10 years?

    20?

When DB and his parents are dead?

With so many people under threat why was he seemingly the only one allocated full time protection?

He'd be gone out of the country on the next flight id say.

I haven't heard of any attempts on Patrick hutch or 'Harry' to be fair. I would have thought they would be prime targets.

I would be thinking Harry is lying low and watching his back, but he is bound to crop up sooner or later. Theres been no whisper of Patrick since the trial collapsed, he was meant to be under the wing of the man up the North

They've tried to get him kill 3 times I think.

As long as he's alive and he refuses relocation program.

Its crazy when you really think about it. Its not just outside the house, the cops are likely still all over Sean McDermott street aswell. Patsy would be doing himself and the state a favour by f**king off up North or something and keeping his head down. His quality of life here must be shocking.

It’s too small of a country

Cops have everything on the high ups in society

Too many skeletons could be revealed

Every arm of the state would destroy them anyway were they brave enough to publish anything

Just remember a politician was whacked in Russia and a newspaper had to apologise over a lady he was with when it happened

    Jesus h christ.

He is called the monk because he wasn’t drinking one time and somebody said what are you a monk or something along them lines. Story varies.

How do people still think he is some sober genius. Why does he see to have loads of mates who are dying in this feud who have IRA links. That’s what I’d like to know.

Raids in the MM estate ? Seen loads off armed response around today.. the B gang are under serious pressure. Mr Price is looking after the M gang. No more stupid videos been posted online by them in a while.

There's obviously a piece of the jigsaw missing

GH handing over 2 mil and then the monk coming back with another 200k , doesn't make sense

It’s not gangs, it’s groups of friends, once one row ends they can all be friends again then another fight will start and they will all split up in another faction. All bull**** from the press. These lads live year to year, friend to friend. Family relations tied them together more.

An explanation was given at the time. The proper protocols were not followed in identifying Patrick hutch as the gunman dressed as woman. The evidence gathering was tainted. Simple

Nothing anywhere about his and Wayne's funeral.

So there's 3 theories to why the detective killed himself.

    1. Evidence gathering was tainted
    2. Dutch police cracked a PGP device and evidence of payments and his help in 2 murders in Ireland.
    3. 12 names supposedly involved in regancy were given to the deceased father.

1 is hardly a reason for a detective to kill himself.

Lights and flowers on the footpath where the lad crashed hit a car and took out a wall and gate pillar.
Across the road at in grounds of 6 flats is a loud party outside while a woman dropped of more flowers.

    Crazy to me.

I wouldn't call humber 1 a theory, it was what was reported at the time by the media. This was all over the media when hutch was acquitted. I dont know why people have been saying no explanation if you follow the news or even this thread. Personally when I read about him being acquitted I wasnt sceptical of the suicide in the sense that it was a case of extreme importance extreme magnitude massive public attention and it all asunder due to incompetence. So what I mean is when I read about the acquittal I took it at the time that it was the gardas embarrassment/shame that drove him to suicide after realising the trial will collapse due to errors being made and protocols not being followed.

An explanation was given at the time. The proper protocols were not followed in identifying Patrick hutch as the gunman dressed as woman. The evidence gathering was tainted. Simple

I thought that was covered towards the start of the trial, it was called the "trial within a trial" if I remember correctly and they said the id(s) of Hutch by the different Gardai were safe/admissible so the trial continued.

Going by the 3 theories Tippsman mentions (sorry I can't multiquote)

1 seems like professional suicide for a detective to mess something up regarding evidence, if not the ID of Patrick Hutch as that was given the A-ok previously, then what else might it have been that would compromise a murder case? Maybe a demotion and public lambasting by the gardai for misdemeanors but I dunno, seems a bit extreme for a suicide.

2 and 3 seem like professional suicide plus signing your own death warrant once the information became public. Being complicit in 2 murders by (2) or other revenge/retaliation murders by (3) would assure jail time. Definitely not easy for a detective. If only short jail time he'd be a marked man for life by all concerned who he'd crossed/helped kill associates.

I think the full story about Det Fox won't be found out for a long long time, my main theory is that if he was either a dirty or incompetent cop, it could put a huge range of convictions in jeopardy if he was involved in them through his career, and that's a barrel of worms that the Dept of Justice don't want opened up.

Alternately, maybe the man was just stressed over the whole situation or many situations, suicide is a weird and nasty thing for all concerned.
