Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Iconic horror director Stuart Gordon has died aged 72. He was the director of the likes of Re-Animator, From Beyond, Castle Freak, Dreams of the Witch House and Dagon among others. Re-Animator is a personal favourite and one of best examples of over the top 80s splatter ever made.

The great made in Ireland Space Film... Space Truckers as well :)

Classical composer Krzysztof Penderecki has died. While not a soundtrack composer in the movie industry. his compositions were particularly suited to horror films. His Polymorphia and other pieces were used to great effect in The Exorcist and more recent films such as Fearless and Children of Men, while six of his pieces were used in The Shining, such as this:

Death has this much to be said for it:
You don’t have to get out of bed for it.
    Wherever you happen to be
    They bring it to you—free.

    — Kingsley Amis

    Adam Schlesinger.

Probably most famous for his poppy tune "Stacey's Mom" but he earned an Oscar nod for writing the main theme for the 1997 film "That Thing You Do". He also composed and produced songs for several films. Another one taken by the dreaded CoViD19

    Shirley Douglas

Had some movie parts, most notably hunting dinosaurs in Barney's Great Adventure, but is probably more known in the movie business as the mother of Kiefer Sutherland and ex-wife to Donald Sutherland.

The death was announced by Kiefer Sutherland on Twitter

Worked with some interesting directors ...
A native of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Douglas worked with famed directors including Stanley Kubrick ("Lolita") and David Cronenberg ("Dead Ringers"), and won a Gemini Award for her performance in the 1999 TV film "Shadow Lake."
... and came from an interesting political family too.
Daughter of Irma May (Dempsey) and Tommy Douglas, Saskatchewan Premier from 1944 to 1961, the first Leader of the NDP, from 1961 to 1971, and the founder of Canada's Medicare.

She was awesome! It's such a pity that her years in the Avengers were before the American sales deal her series are shot on tape with wobbly transfers for the most part.

Sad news from Japan that Nobuhiko Obayashi has died - best known as the director of the cult masterpiece House (Hausu). One of the my favourite films thanks to its mix of wild colour, tonal insanity and ghoulishly surreal comedy. His recent late work Hanagatami is also well worth a look - that beyond hyper-stylised aesthetic of House ramped up further in service of a really fascinating epic melodrama.

Hilary Heath passed last week due to COVID-19 complications. In front of the camera, she was probably best known for starring alongside Vincent Price in Witchfinder General, The Oblong Box and Cry of the Banshee, as well as numerous other roles in TV, stage, and cinema. She turned producer in the 90s, making films like Nil by Mouth and An Awfully Big Adventure. On top of all that, she obtained a Masters in psychology from Oxford, and worked as an addiction counsellor. She was 74.

She was a real looker. Must have seen most of her film appearances.

He was perfectly cast in Gorky Park, the right amount of menace, even when he smiled. RIP.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.
