I haven't worked there since earlier in the summer but the last schedule I had was to have all blacktop complete by end of september. Has that been achieved? I'd imagine it should have.

How far out from the piers can the deck be built before it has to be supported by cables from the main tower?

I only had the low res phone with me on Saturday which was a pity because the light was lovely.

Why did they never create proper renders for this bridge?

    I have never seen one.

Is the bridge opening delayed until Q4 next year now? I thought it was to be opened in June but heard it was delayed....could be rubbish talk I suppose...

The photos show a serious cantilever alright

That was my thoughts too, the latest photos even more so. I'm not an engineer but didn't realise it could support itself so far out.

They appear to be progressing equally in each direction, and there is a second pillar to give support, so it remains more or less in balance. There is little extra load, such as a few trucks, to knock it off balance.

I know it's balanced, but its still looks like a lot of cantilevering.

It does look cool all the same

Just pulled this from FB - Its a close up of one of the towers that will hold the cables on the deck.

Amazing pics & vids thanks for sharing.

Anyone know the engineering reason why the bridge seems so high over the water? Is it something to do with the topography either side of the river or another reason?

I'd imagine it's something to do with it being a navigable river.

When it is due to open? the N25 wiki page really needs updating if someone is up for it.

It's because of it both being a navigable river and the elevation on the Kilkenny side.
The land immediately adjacent to the river on the Wexford side is quite boggy so it also made sense to have that part elevated.
Someone here I think, quoted one of the engineers, that coming off such a height on the Kilkenny meant that they effectively had half the bridge built already.
We're a helpful lot on our side.

Is that official? Real shame if there is an 18 month delay!

    Was that announced publicly?
