That was how Battlefront III would have looked in 2008 on the consoles when it was cancelled.

EA/DICE picked up the license early last year.

As others have pointed out, it's Star Wars! What type of guns are you looking for? I want all sorts of blasters & cool STAR WARS ****e in the game.

We've heard almost nothing about Star Wars: Battlefront since EA announced its resurrection in 2013, beyond a brief teaser, some talk about maps, and a rumored "holidays 2015" launch window. But that's about to change, as Electronic Arts will finally unveil the game to the public at the Star Wars Celebration taking place next month in Anaheim, California.
"We could not think of a better or more appropriate place to debut the game officially for the first time than the premier event that celebrates the Star Wars universe and the legions of fans who have fallen in love with it," EA said in the announcement.
No further details were revealed, but that's not terribly surprising since the debut is only a few weeks away: The Star Wars Celebration runs from April 16-19 at the Anaheim Convention Center. We will, of course, be in attendance. Even if we have to don a knock of Chewbacca suit to do so.

According to the site's source code, the game is releasing November 17th on Xbox One, Ps4 and PC. Can't wait for tomorrow. Is this the right place for the game's thread though?

As obvious as that point is, it doesn't have the name Battlefield in it and a lot of people will buy it based on the whole Star Wars "pew pew pew" aspect as opposed to the developers behind the game. It was a legitimate question if this should be more visible in the main game page instead of a niche subsection.

Glad they've included the 3rd person and the Pre-order DLC only being a being a week earlier access to free DLC, but those single/coop missions sound like there'll be a lot of additional paid DLC going forward. But if they had a Republic commando inspired one I pay for that.

For all the hate the prequels get I like Droids vs Clones a lot better in the battlefront games.

There is no way a game can properly have 3rd and 1st person views. The former will win with spamming hip hire and having better field of view.

Maby third person is for the jedi/sith class that is at a disadvantage since they only have light sabres and infantry with guns will be locked to first person

Battlefront and Battlefront 2 :rolleyes:

They worked far better as 3rd person even though I'm an FPS player.

I would like if there was a 3rd person option in the new Battlefront, as fans of the franchise are used to it and I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people played it that way.

That besides there are plenty of decent third person multiplayer games over the years besides Battlefront and Battlefront 2.

In fact even at the current moment Warfame is hugely popular and that's a third person shooter.

Now those are just the really good ones that were critically/commerically well received. There are plenty other 'decent' ones that just weren't great, but all of the above were very good Star Wars games.

To be fair early 2000s were the golden era for huge amounts of players per server. mohaa with 64, bf1942 had some 128 person servers.

No space battles is really upsetting. Arguably my favourite bit of battlefront was epic space battles.

It seems a little strange that they merge the two and suddenly it's only 40 player.

Unless that was a reference to console versions, as I believe the PS4 version was the demo.

Long as the game is designed well first or third person doesn't really worry me. However, 40 player maps are a bit poor. I was kinda hoping for battlefield but with star wars theme. No gigantic maps I'd say.

The key differentiator tbh is that this isn't Battlefield. Same devs & engine, but thats about it. I think 40 is a good compromise, given the graphical fidelity of the game so far.

I really don't want this game to be released until it's perfect.
If you look on the website there is already mention of dlc coming out 'Battle of Jakku' this really disappoints me.. I don't want this to be like Call of duty or Battlefield where they release 10 maps originally and then have dlc every few months...

Its free DLC thats coming out after the game has launched. That signals that they're prioritising in getting the game up to standard & then once that is done, giving people who bought the game extra content. Not too bad to be honest.

I am amazed that the 3rd person inclusion isn't bothering people. It is basically going to be a shoot em up with firing from the hip and no recoil.

No chance that people will use first person when playing via 3rd person. Flawed game design

"game engine" footage is not equal to actual gameplay. I'm a bit dissapointed with the game description in the Origin store as well. I was expecting it to talk about mixed space battle and on-foot gameplay like maybe a station attack that starts in space and ends up with you boarding an enemy ship (like titan mode in 2142). From the description it looks like there will be a separate x-wing versus tie fighter game mode which hopefully will have something to keep us interested longer than the Air Superiority mode in BF4 but I was hoping for something a bit more epic.
