Back in the day we used to give out about their playlist, some posters said be thankful for what you have. How right they were, since Hayes joined and then brought his side kick onto the breakfast show the station has fallen off a cliff, certainly among its existing target audience.
Greg Gaughran needs to be brought back to the day time schedule.

So very true since the new breakfast show and the dropping of all the good weekend shows apart from GG I know of nobody who listens to the station now I wonder what the listenership figures must be tiny !

I do not think Classic Rock or whatever term the BAI put on the licence is relevant anymore when you look at Sunshine and how that evolved or was warped into easy listening and was originally advertised as a Country Music Station !

Radio in Ireland is dead and murdered by the PDs and MDs in pursuit of more audience whilst all the time they were pushing listeners away

But he's right, its disingenuous to tag classic rock with Nova. At this stage you're nearly more likely to hear classic rock on Classic hits.
As for describing it as a 'classic rock sound', thats just marketing speak so they can play whatever the like.

I am not say that he isn't factually correct but the well documented hatred for all things Nova is tiresome. It is what it is, and there really are 2 choices. Switch off or apply for the license and do a better job!:rolleyes:

The Bai are also taking the piss by saying classic Hits is a classic Gold / Easy Listening / Smooth Multi-City Sound Broadcasting Service targeting an audience aged 45+ years". That station had good specialist shows in the early days but dumped them all to play rytham is a dancer and Britney spears

Disagree about moving Courtenay. If he had a free rein on what's played, he'd have a great show....he does like his rock. It's all down to program directors who say yay or nay on what to play. Plus, they probably get direction from the Colon as to what's acceptable.

Just not a fan of his presenting...very immature and repetitive...(expect Cal dreamer to jump in here..:P ).....does he still have the idiots ringing in with the "funny" stories..?

Haven't a clue. I gave up on Nova (apart from Pat James) when the FNRS stopped. Haven't listened to daytime in a couple of years.

Listened to PC when he was doing the Sunday morning show during the summer and over Christmas and he's very adaptable to his audience. He's a talented presenter who unlike a LOT of them on there, actually like and know something about rock.

True, but when he has to bow to the likes of Haze, cant help but lose respect for the guy....
He could jump over to digital with PJ but as with all of them its the pay cheque that out weighs the passion...with PJ its the opposite..;)

I've been listening to planet rock or spotify in my car every day for the last four years or so.
Jumped into the wife's car the other day and nova (the classic rock station) was playing karma chameleon.
They're using this all 80s slot to dilute the music even further and play whatever crap they want under the guise of it being "classic".

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,101 ✭✭✭Max Headroom

In fairness it does describe nova..:pac:....Yesterday i heard their promo.." ..cause only nova can play it"..followed by Haircut 100...

Pretty soon you'll hear ONLY classic stuff being played on nova and a gradual playing of more rocky stuff on Classic hits....

Miller making himself look like the fool that he is this morning, he was going on about the people breaking the 5k limit, and how some guy drove to cork from meath...he went on about he'd love to drive to Galway for a spin but wouldnt have the balls because he might get caught at a checkpoint...and then commented on how much money the government got from the fines....

He is without doubt an absolute tosser of the highest order...
    Dee must be so proud...

Was doing some man work in the house yesterday, so had Nova on for ages in the background. They need to lay off the stupid ads for Colm and Lucy, never listened to it but it sounds like tripe from the ads they play every 10 minutes.

Also some questionable music. Bastille are a rubbish pop band. Delete please. I think I heard George Ezra too? He belongs on Spin. Thanks.

According to the 4pm and 5pm news there's a team in the Premier League called 'Tottenham Hotsboro' ???

It might be easier for them if they just stuck to "Spurs"!

    On a different note:

I noticed lately that all but two of the digital options on Radio Nova's app seem to have been replaced with Radio Nova. Classic Rock is still there, which is just as well for Pat James! Curiously, the other option, The Rock, is now active. Previously, that used to be blank for me.

The top flight in English football hasn't been called the 'premiership' for over twenty years! Correct your own stupidity before pointing out any others like a good lad.

I stand corrected by some five or six years. Mea culpa. I guess my actual contention is the creep attacking the girl who knows sfa about tottenham 'hotsboro' or whatever she may have referred to them as, because she's thrown in there, so as to get some work and is given some work by nova who care not a whit about news or sport etc.
