Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's possible that the majority could have failed the aptitude test due to negative marking.
I can see them scrapping this campaign and revising the aptitude test and starting a new campaign.
    This is just a theory...

This happened in West Midlands Amb. Trust in the UK last year. Never got the quality of applicants in the first batch so there was a second round of interviews and aptitude tests.

I had heard of this happening before...
The NAS/HSE can more or less do what they want...

The person with the highest score will be no. 1.

Where did you hear there was 300 candidates? Doesn't that mean that every single person who applied will get a job?

300 candidates was from the horses mouth...
True the person with the highest score will have the highest ranking. I don't dispute that.
I was saying that if, out of the 300, too many didn't achieve the required minimum then they (NAS/HSE) could revise the tests and start again.
If they don't then yes, it's possible that everyone will be invited to interview.

Ye could also be over thinking things, something more pressing could have come up in the office, like the recruitment campaign for porters in Roscommon hospital. I'm sure the results will be out tomorrow or Wednesday.

More pressing than the recruitment of paramedics?
I assume you are being sarcastic...
Either way, it shouldn't have happened. A deadline is a deadline.
If you miss one in this campaign you're out. No comeback,no appeal.

Relax lads, I'm in the same boat, it's out of our hands ontilll we hear more, there could be a number of reasons for the delay, from what I heard there was over 600 attended the tests, I can't see them scrapping the current process, however there could be an extra recruitment drive as there was very little advertising done for the current recruitment, I'd say they expected a bigger amount of applicants. They disbanded the last panel, even though they had a second band to draft from and only a hand full expressed interest in the offers, so as was said before, anything is possible

I can't understand why people are getting hung up on deadlines. Clearly you've never had any dealings with a large organisation before. They can miss deadlines - you can't. That's how it is. If you struggle with things being unfair then...

  • Registered Users Posts: 189 ✭✭madmaxvideo

Just on another note, the recruitment drive is noting to do with NAS, it is all ran by NRS

No I'm not being sarcastic, slightly disingenuous perhaps but many roles in the hse are rather pressing and some might be just about to get filled.
A deadline for them is a guideline, for us it's to show we can follow orders. You'll be sitting on a panel long enough if your successful, 24 hours makes no difference.

It is out of our hands. This is all just speculation.
The woman at the aptitude test said that only approx 450 people initially expressed interest but many dropped out due to the 6 LC subjects and the C1/D1 licences.
Apparently this left approx 300 going to the test.

That's fine .. thanks .. it's what we knew anyway so let's just wait and see

As far as I know their waiting on results back from the testing company, but we should get a text/ email soon regarding it, second hand info so here's hoping

    I don't know...
The results should be instant. It's on a computer so the second you hit the "finish" button the results are there. They are easily collated.
    The delay is something else.
Like I said, it should be "sometime this week"...

Fair enough, your entitled to your opinion, I was speaking to a friend also waiting on results and he contacted NRS and that was what he was told, frustrating for everyone involved left in limbo, a text or email wouldn't go astray

    Agree entirely...
No text or email is just bad manners

Outlined? I got both within 5 minutes of each other. Just saying nothing really, "we'll let you know later in the week".

That'll do, as long as we don't have to wait ontill next week. Does anyone know what the eligibility sift is all about? Surely people were deemed ineligible if they didn't have any of the required certs going to aptitude, does it form part of the ranking process for interview?

I doubt its part of the ranking, it's probably just a yes or no by Ucd. The eligibility shift looks at other nationalities qualifications and the like so they know they're comparing like for like.

Just got an email there, invited to apply for an interview!
Just read the application and it asks for your current employer to act as a referee! I started a new job a few weeks ago so don't know how that will go down :-/

They are tricky I went trough it all in 2013 found the forms hard just do plenty of thinking about the compency examples you write as a good portion of the interview will be based on what you write you will be asked questions on it and asked to explain further and will be scored accordingly also is no harm having a second example of each in the back of your head as you could be asked for another example in interview

Ye, found the form tricky, had about a third of each page filled on first attempts, then I was running out of space!! Hopefully not too much waffle, and I hope to be able to lead the interview with what I wrote, hopefully enough to get called!!

I think I read something like that too but that was with the forms being submitted a week earlier than they were.

The answer to this is 'no' it's not part of the ranking system. This is purely about reviewing educational quaifications to ensure that the definitely meet requirements.
