Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Pity...that precip is looking less likely to move much further inland..seems to be losing it. Onwards to Thursday/Friday!

EDIT: Seems to have regained it's composure now. Im guessing with the lack of reports this is mostly rain?

It has been raining since around 2pm in S.Kerry, Prior to that it had been mostly hail. Winds were very light all day but have increased within the last 2 hours with strong gales that seem to be building.
Also the sleet has returned but mixed with rain and not very intense so far.
Temps were low all day but seems mild at the moment.
Thunder and lightning have also been present but only in short bursts.

    S. Kerry @ 110m

Solution = lie down on kitchen table with a pillow :D

Here in West-ish Co Waterford, close to Sth Tipp border, and 190masl, it's quite windy but dry (for at least the past hour). We have had large amounts of rain earlier, no sign of snow or frost so far. Don't think it's very cold out except for the wind chill factor.

Forgot to add as well as lying on the kitchen table with a pillow, a suitable neck lubricant may be recommended ;)

All that rain has now reached the coast in Dublin. Full sweep across the country.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,179 ✭✭✭pauldry

0.7c in Sligo and rain coming in the next hour or so will fall as sleet and snow in some inland areas Id say even at low levels. It will fall as sleety rain in Sligo

Just travelled back from Duleek (Louth Meath border near Drogheda) to Ashbourne, and it was doing it's best to sleet on me near Kilmoon, which is not that high.

Can't give you any exact figures right now, my weather station is only half working, I've had to take the external sensors down to repair a broken rain gauge, (the reed switch packed up) and the weather has not been conducive to climbing up on the roof to put it back again since, so I've decided that a few other minor tweaks are called for, will post them when they are working. The biggest change will be to extend the wind sensor pole so that it's not so badly distorted by the wind deflected off the dormer roof, it's been very noticable that the direction and speed are distorted when there is potential for swirl off the roof because of the direction. A few more metres of pole will help, I hope.

Another distraction has been the arrival this morning of a new grandson, and even snow had to take second place to him:D

    Steve

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

my weather station is at 0.0c

    for ages now.

i wonder has it broke too or has it just frozen. still no ice outside even though its nought.

    wonder why

Literally freezing in the midlands - the bin lid is frozen shut already. Roads will be like glass in the morning. Not expecting much in the way of precipitation though.

Was driving from Kerry to cork an hour ago. The county bounds was spectacular. Like something from a Christmas card. Lots of snow falling. :)

Light sleet falling here in north Kilkenny.
is there any snow for the southeast today or tonite??.

My thoughts exactly. 50 knots mean wind speed (at inland locations) could have transpired - not a very nice prospect!
