Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Just for information....

I posted (An Post) a small package by standard (unregistered) post on 17/06/2020. It arrived today 29/06/2020.

That's 12 days to get from Wicklow to Kilkenny.

Package was correctly addressed and the correct value of stamp as attached.

Yet more of the same ridiculous delays from An Post in Dublin 8. Something posted to me last Wednesday which still hasnt arrived yet stuff from other couriers is arriving with almost no delay.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,210 ✭✭✭WestWicklow1

I posted a small package to Kosovo by registered mail with An Post on 12-02-2020. It never arrived. I opened a case in late February 2020.

Yesterday, 30-06-2020, four months after I opened the case, I received a letter from An Post looking for the receipt of postage.

Am I right in saying that the only way to talk to An Post's customer service now is by web chat?

Waiting on print sent from Australia (economy) April 14th. No tracking so who knows where it is! Anyone else still waiting on stuff from Oz or should I admit defeat at this stage?

Finally arrived on 29/06/20. Posted 14/04/20. Slightly bent but otherwise intact. Just wanted to give an update in case anyone else is also waiting on things from Australia.

I posted birthday card from here on 9th April, arrived in NSW, Aus last week. In the same week I received parcel from Montana, USA that was posted March 3rd.

Any idea how long before an item is released from the below status? Been there a few days now. Bought something from the US that cost €116.48 total of which the delivery cost €45.

"Your delivery is being assessed by customs in DUBLIN PARCEL HUB
    DUBLIN 12"

Seems we've passed the worst of it in terms of Postal delays from the US. Package was shipped from the states with an untrackable USPS number on the 5th of July. Arrived today!

Shipped on 5 July, arrived 8 July is an unacceptable delay? Or, am I misunderstanding your post?

EDIT: Indeed it was my misunderstanding. Whoops.

    AddressPal.
Delivered to Hatfield on Thursday. In my Cork PO on Monday morning, 10am.
    Happy with that.

(Apparently AddressPal is on the site of the Mosquito aircraft factory during WW2. Hence Mosquito Way address. )

Ordered a phone from Three on Monday evening - still hasn't arrived in Cork - been sitting in Dublin hub since Wednesday am at 1.47am - surely something like this shouldn't take this long??

Edit* just got an update that it's in Fermoy now! Should have it today! Still took longer than I thought for a national delivery.

Must be something you are doing as it seems every delivery service and every utility service gives you bad service.

I've yet to see a post from you that is not complaining about a service.

Either you are the unluckiest person about when it comes to service providers or a lot is made up?

    Hi,

I ordered something from Amazon to be delivered by An Post.
The tracking claims they attempted delivery on Wednesday, but I don't think they did, because another item I ordered arrived fine, and they didn't leave a note.

When I called them, they told me the parcel has been logged as "re-directed" for some reason, and may be on its way back to Amazon. They won't let me pick it up, and they won't give me an ETA.

    The tracking is as follows:

    15 July 2020 23:11
Your delivery has been sorted in DUBLIN MAIL CENTRE, DUBLIN 12

    15 July 2020 08:53

There might have been an issue with the address on the label. The 2 attempted delivery scans look like they were done in the sorting office.
I've had Amazon stuff with no name on the label.

I was the postie. Scanned the barcode and was able to phone the person, but had to send stuff back because there wasn't a number available. It happens occasionally.
Item will be returned to Amazon and they'll either re-send it or refund you.
Contact them and let them know what happened. They'll send out another one.

    Not at all.

Courierpost can be grand. This week I've received 3x items in ~36hrs from Amazon and AnPost.

AnPost always come so close. Like 7 in 8 packages is an excellent service then they go and leave a €900 camera in a recycling bin. Or AddressPal is half baked. Or they ignore redirect requests.

If you want a good story I receive items on a 4hr SLA via UPS. They're flawless. It's just a bit not newsworthy so maybe I'll post about them less.

I sell on eBay occasionally and I've used UPS for deliveries of larger items to the UK recently. I find them very reliable.

Hi guys, had a package via DHL from the US arrive on the 18th, still nothing showing on An Post tracking with the tracking number provided, this normal? Thanks.

Can anyone shed any light on this? when i got onto an post webchat they just said that the number i gave them wouldn't have further tracking when it got to Ireland.

    Arrived a month ago tomorrow

Possibly "mis-directed" in that it went to the wrong delivery unit.

What part of Dublin are you in (city, west, south, north)

There are UPU codes, the S10 standard, and then there are proprietary codes. If yours wasnt in the S10 format then it doesnt work outside the originating network.

An Post seem to have lost four parcels belonging to me in the space of a couple of days. Amazon have refunded me for all of them, which is great, but it's hardly their fault. Absolute joke of a service.

Compared to the private companies An Post is a stellar service. Never had single issue with them. Not once.

The same cannot be said for the likes of DPD, or *shudder* Fastway. Now there's a joke.

I have to agree with you there.

I know there was a bit of delay with An Post during the height of the Covid issue, but not anymore. But that might have been an Amazon issue too, who knows now?

And they are very polite delivery people too.

I have no connection with an Post at all, but seems like most things I order arrive via them on time via the tracking thing.

I have no connection to An Post either, other than a very nice postie. But anything I've ordered online gets to me. Anything I've posted gets to where I posted it to. I, literally, have never had a problem with them.

I have several items on their way to me from Amazon now and today An Post has notified me that they are in the country and will be delivered in the next 2 working days (I'd have preferred a definite day, of course...but Covid and all that).

Plus, when they don't catch me in to take a delivery, they will leave an "undelivered" docket that I can use. I don't know any private courier that does that.

    The "norm"

    Wild exaggeration I think

An post process over 1 million parcels and packets a week and based one parcel, you say above is "the norm" LOL

Couriers, never know when they are going to arrive and leave parcels or not? And they lose things, and send them to far corners of the country occasionally too. I have had it all, including companies claiming to have sent stuff out when they hadn't, and then blaming the post or the courier.

So it turns out that there was no postman to deliver the post on that day, was told that may arrive on Saturday. On Monday tracking says it's in the sorting office in coolmine, you can't ring them, so I checked with customer service and they say it's definitely in coolmine sorting office. I don't know why it wasn't sent out on the Monday post, so drove to the sorting office, no it's not there. Back to customer service, they will send the coolmine office manager an email. Still nothing to report. An post is a circus.

Have an Amazon order being delivered by An Post - due to be delivered yesterday & last tracking update was on 29th July stating "Your delivery has been sorted in DUBLIN PARCEL HUB, DUBLIN 12" An Post saying another 1-3 working days due to "large volume of parcels received at the centre"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,474 ✭✭✭VG31

Same here. I'm waiting on an Amazon.de parcel since Wednesday which was due to be delivered by today. I paid for priority delivery so I will be looking for a refund of shipping costs. Another item from the order was delivered yesterday in an unmarked van. There seems to be no delays with packages small enough to come with the postman.

I'm also waiting on two parcels from Germany which were scanned by An Post on 29 and 30 July. I wonder if they have staff shortages this weekend.

Anyone have any experience with Colissimo? Ordered a small package from France.

Last thing on the tracking system was over a week ago. "Your package has left France".

Just wondering if you received it and how long it took?

I have a parcel that apparently left France on the 17th of July. Does anyone think I should be worried by now? I'm not sure when I should start chasing it up.

Having issues with An Post as well with my amazon UK order. The tracking status said "Delivered" on 29th July at 18:00 even though it hasn't. The tracker updated before 18:00 that day as well.

I had this happened with my last order in June but the order came the next day so didn't think too much of it. This time I contacted an post on the web chat about it when it didn't show up the next day and they said it's an IT issue with the scanner and that there is a high volume of post. I waited another day and contacted them again and they said it should be there by now and that they have opened an "enquiry" on it and the guy told me to contact amazon.

I explained to Amazon and they ended up giving me a full refund and said if the item does show up they could arrange a return if I don't want it anymore which was pretty sound. Still the item has not shown up.

Anyone have similar experience with An Post? Only have this happening since June.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,474 ✭✭✭VG31

An Post have taken at least two days to deliver all my Amazon orders in the last two weeks.

There were flawless in delivering the next working day before in my experience. Even if a package arrived in the Dublin Parcel Hub between 12 and 4 am it would be delivered that day.

FYI, my stuff showed up yesterday. Something went wrong during the transfer to a parcel locker apparently, but it was all present and correct.
