I asked earlier in the thread whether anyone knew why Tom Egan wasn't helping Conor prepare anymore. Someone asked him on twitter.

He also lives in Boston. Nowhere near where Conor lives. I actually was talking to Tom in Vegas in December and him and Conor are still great buddies by the sounds of it

All that money that Mayweather has, and he designs a poster in MS paint. Jesus.

In fairness he did spell Conor right which seems to be beyond a lot of people.

Dunno why they didn't go with McGregor instead of Conor though

Interesting insight to what Conor though of his training camp. Sounds like he's naturally trying to get to 170 instead of 'eating up' for the fight. Gonna be very hard to get back to 145.

"Swinging on gymnastic rings on fight week isn't the best thing. Usually, I wrap myself in bubble wrap and only do fight-specific things, but just because of that weight, no weight cut, I had put it in my head that, 'I'm free.' I had energy to burn. I was doing so much bounce footwork, the balls of my feet were burned to a crisp. Looking back, it was ridiculous. I don't know what I was thinking."
"It was my idea. I wanted to have my revenge at 170, and they're crying and complaining about the 145-pound belt, which I just won three months ago. That division was killed, it was dead. Jose went down in 13 seconds. What more can I do? I traveled the world with that man. I finally got him in the Octagon, and he only lasts 13 seconds.
I didn't see a challenge there anymore. So, I wanted to create interest from a fan's perspective and my perspective. I want to see them two go at it, with an interim belt on the line. Then I will see people walking around my division with a belt and that will intrigue me. It will make me want that belt again."

He's going slow, working with Lockhart year round now. I think he has one more cut in him, he's a good bit leaner than he was versus Diaz right now and that his before camp even starts. 155 is his future though without doubt. He wants to beat him at 170 because that was the first match was at, he doesn't want to say he had to get him at 155 to beat him.

He was doing muscle ups on gymnastic rings during fight week, which I have to say surprised me. One of the easiest ways to damage your rotator cuff doing an exercise which provides no real benefits. So looks to be some truth that he is no longer working with Portal and possibly blames him for overworking him fight week.

Well well well. It seems despite all the flak I received I have been proven right by none other than McGregor himself.

I dont want a 'Golden Cleric' moment so I will just simply sign out with 'I told you so'

His fight week activities had nothing to do with him losing to Nate,he got beaten fair and square by a guy on 12 days notice simple as that better fighter won he took his best shots and dragged him into deep water.

Fight week wasn't going to change much no, I think his conditioning problems come from deeper. He is conditioned for explosiveness and fast finishes. He's gone 3 rounds against Holloway, but that fight didn't tell us too much because he took the fight to the ground after popping his knee.

He won the first round barely but he looked absolutely drained and pale after it. Diaz almost matched him on volume but didn't look fazed at all. Was it purely because he was loading up too much or is it because he's lacking a bit in the cardio department? Prob a bit of both IMO.

Thats the exact word Nate used,a battle of will and Nate was the tougher mentally and physically when it mattered,

I think Conor neglected his Cardio, underestimated Nates striking and loaded up on shots instead of using his I.Q and being patient.

How have you not been banned yet?

On a seperate note; good to see he knows where he went wrong with his training and is working to correct that.

    Banned for being right?

That doesn't make a lot of sense. I stood by my convictions and was ultimately proven right despite a cohort of bullying, sneering individuals who did everything in their power to sideline my opinion.

Banned for being a troll (Better not get another warning for this one, it's justified)

I'll probably regret this but.. Explain how you were right. He's only there as a movement coach for the last week or so of the camp to help keep Conor loosened up.

He has NOT replaced any of Conor's regular coaches such as Roddy or John and to think otherwise is absolutely idiotic.

Nonsense. His preparation was clearly flawed, as also was what I feel was somewhat of a complacent attitude in the octagon at times during that fight when he quite clearly felt he had the fight won.

Bang on and I referenced that ring work earlier in the thread also after watching an episode of Embedded and reading an interview with Ben Crighton (PhD sports scientist / researcher in MMA) who cited it as being possibly one the things very well may have contributed to Conor gassing out. Here's a few snippets from that interview.
I’m a big fan of his movement coach Ido Portal. I’ve followed him for a number of years now before he started working with McGregor but when you watched the UFC Embedded series, some of the stuff he was doing a few days before the fight (well, the way they put it across it was only a few days before the fight) he was doing muscle-ups on the rings and they are extremely taxing.

If you think how much upper body is involved with that, your shoulders and everything are going to get seriously fatigued there. I wonder whether something as simple as such a strenuous workout three days before fight night could mean you just haven’t got as much gas in the tank and your muscles just aren’t as fresh as they could have been. The combination of that, with the extra muscle mass and the fact he was loading up on shots so much maybe led him to gas out, which was a surprise to me.

    Full interview here.

I wasn't trolling at all, I was actually proven right in my beliefs.

Look at Conor's own comments for proof as well as the posts above this.

I don't see mention of Portal in any of them bar you harping on about him being an integral part of Conor's camp when he's the least important one there.

Conor lost that fight cos he threw bombs for 5+ minutes and couldn't keep that up: Gassing himself.

He underestimated how tough Nate is and paid for it, simple really.

Are you referring to this line by any chance?

"So looks to be some truth that he is no longer working with Portal and possibly blames him for overworking him fight week."

That's speculation from someone on here, not from Conor's mouth.
Any articles to MMA sites I can't access in work due to them being "mature"

Bottom line is you were way off with your guesstimations of Portal's importance in Conor's training. He was a movement coach for the last week or 2 of the fight, nothing more.
John is his main coach/bjj coach
    Roddy is his striking coach
    Sergei is his wrestling coach

Portal cannot and did not replace any of their roles, he was simply there to work on a bit of flexibility and movement drills.
As someone here put it so brilliantly; he's a foam roller with a pony tail.
