    Yeah, it's poor when stagnant.
    Nothing doing.
They could at least flood the Virtual consoles with discounted games.

Wanting to support the NX with games at launch is very logical & understandable...but the difference between Christmas & March/April in terms of sales is massive. They should have planned things to coincide with a Christmas '16 release. To miss that window, I feel is Nintendo just being Nintendo again, rather than the all new, ready to battle with the big guys Nintendo I wanted to see. No doubt the NX will be a smash hit & we'll all look like fools, but still :o

Maybe they've spread their resources too thin now they're getting into the mobile arena - http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-04-27-nintendo-bringing-animal-crossing-and-fire-emblem-to-smartphones-next.

The last smash hit console release I remember was the SNES and SMW. :pac: Every release since was underwhelming games wise, and these days we have less reliable hardware to deal with and day one system updates to suffer. The NX has a chance to buck the trend having Zelda available at launch though, fingers crossed. I'll sit on the sidelines and watch the folks in here enjoy their new console while waiting for 'feature x to release in a coming update'. :)

Its all very well to say 'E3 blah blah' but right now, the outlook is bleak. We know next to nothing about the NX, 3DS line up isn't great, Wii U's is even worse. I dunno. I love nintendo, I don't want them to fail. But they're making me sad right now.

It's rumoured that it and the PS4.5 will be using AMD chips so that might factor into it.

I do wonder if this delay is something to do with AMD, will be interesting to see how it plays out. I was very interested in this announcement as we are thinking of picking the Wii U up for ourselves and the kids but I would have waited if the NX was going to be released around October/November but not sure if we want to wait until next March. Hopefully the Wii U will drop in price soon as I think we will just pick that up now.

Like I'm not that upset about the NX delay, cos thats fine. I am upset about the fact we've got a year of barren release schedules for the 3DS and Wii U while we wait. 2015 wasn't great either.

Well, for me personally it has fire emblem amd monster hunter X. Those two games will Ave occupied a year easily. Though I know how it would be for general trading Nintendo gamer. Luckily I am not one of them, I just don't like prime Nintendo franchises. I got new zelda amd monster hunter a month ago amd I clocked in about 50h on MH and zelda was not even inside my 3ds.

Well, with a gaping void ahead until the NX release next year this is a good time for people to invest in a US Super Nintendo!
    Seriously.
If you are looking for something to boost your love and faith in the brand there can be little as satisfyingly Nintendo as a couple of hours in the company of Super Metroid, Super Mario World and Street Fighter 2 Turbo, all using the incomparable SNES controller.
That or get a GameCube again, get into Super Mario Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion, fantastic.
    NX be damned!

Apparently the reason for the delay is to have more games ready for it.

Its going to be a bad year and I guess Paper Mario will be the main Christmas title but I guess that Nintendo must have moved all planned Wii U games to the NX and hopefully we got a strong line up with third party games next year.

On and March is my birthday so friends, family and love ones will be coughing up for my birthday

KOEI TECMO, the maker of Hyrule Warriors and Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water amongst others are developing games for the NX.

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3.5 on it's way?

Would be kind of funny after other games getting censored. So the girls just wear more clothes

Yeah as someone who skipped the Wii & WiiU I want Nintendo to convince me but you would be naive to put down money on a NX. They let the WiiU die a death now & if Nintendo ain't trying they have nothing to fall back on 3rd party wise. That for me is the difference maker. They need to get the EA's & Ubisoft's on their side to convince people it's okay to buy an NX. They can rely on 3rd parties then to fill in schedules. It's basically all sony did the past 2 holidays.
If you can get FIFA's and stuff like Fallout or the Witcher on your system do it.
Often feel that the last few years even first party Nintendo stuff has weakened like New Super Mario Bros, Star Fox, Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi and others were disappointing

Mario hasn't been great in my eyes since Super Mario Galaxy 2 the New series I enjoyed and played but wasn't the step up that I had expected and wanted from the Mario series.

3D World isn't great? Easily a match for either of the Galaxy games, it's superb.

I liked that now but New Super Mario Bros 2 along with the last few Mario & Luigi, Paper Mario games have been steps down from past titles.
Ugh I feel like I'm kicking Nintendo when they are down & I don't wanna :(

Not to stray off topic too greatly, but have you given Super Luigi U a punt? I found it a nice counterbalance to the NSMB fatigue. That's to say, it doesn't hold back the most interesting bits of itself for the post-game.

Fair point about New SMB U - don't think I bothered playing past the second or third worlds. It didn't hold my interest like 3D World did anyway. 3D Land was very good I thought too.

Really must give that some proper time. Played it for a little bit, got my ass handed to me and quickly realised this is going to need more time so back on the shelf it went.

So, NX - we know it's coming March 2017 and that it won't be seen at E3 this year. When do folks think we might actually see it for real then? I've lost track of what other big gaming events happen throughout a year or even if Nintendo bother with them anymore.

Presumably we'll see it for real and get concrete details about it's functionality this side of Christmas?

I think definitely before Christmas. I think perhaps they may have their own event for this, I think the secrecy, the no show at E3 and the delay maybe points to a different kind of reveal. Kimishima said "I’d like to announce more particulars regarding its specs and how it works another time this year" Pretty vague but I'd be surprised if there wasn't something before the Autumn.

I'm calling an NOE PR release on Monday 27th March followed swiftly by a worldwide air drop of NX on Thursday at 2 p.m BST to coincide with the eShop update.

Walk into Gamestop one friday, and it'll be just sitting there. Nintendo will wake up from a sake induced coma, and be like 'ah **** man, did we release the NX yesterday? That was some mad ****.'

Couple of more things from an investor Q&A:

    - Kimishima has said that, unlike the Wii U, the NX will be cheaper to make than the retail price
    - He also said that while targeting the shopping season is important for hardware, it is more important to have enough software available for launch.

    Right on que.

Is this good or bad news? Depends on your point of view, it could be any mixture of both.

The delay until March was because they wanted to build up a library. Could be that library be largely made up of cancelled Wii U games and Tripe games. I hope not.

    Megawincasino games... Performance issues?
The screenshots look like it'd work on my old Nokia 2310 :)
No harm in wanting your target audience to be as large as possible I suppose.

Funny thing is, they must be banking on the game having a long life in terms of eshop downloads because, even though the WiiU faltered somewhat in terms of sales, there's still millions of consoles out there, 12.8 according to wiki.
In order for the NX to make those sorts of numbers in the lifetime of such a minor release game, it'd have to have an unprecedented launch and for everyone to have a hankering for casino games!
Yeah, I don't think Shigsy is quaking in his boots at the void left by Mega Win Casino Slots somehow.

It would be a tough choice between Mega Win Casino Slots or Project Giant Robot. Can I choose neither please? :pac:

Fairly disturbing comments from(my point of view)Kimishima and how mobile will be a major pillar going forward.

Don't see anything disturbing there to be honest. He was discussing a new area of investment for the company at an investors meeting. Of course he was going to say it was important. I'd find it stranger if he didn't.

Mobile is just another branch of gaming for them. They have only plans for 4 games and Miitomo up until March 2017 so it won't be like that will be taking their attention off substantially. They have taken a risk moving back the NX a few months missing the holiday season but if it is for the reason given, to make sure there is proper software available for launch and beyond, then they will have at least seemed to have learned from the Wii U. But the proof is in the pudding of course.

Rumour: ROM Chip Maker Macronix Drops Hint Nintendo Could Be Abandoning Optical Storage For NX

I like the sound of this. There is something comforting about having a cartridge (rather than a scratch-prone disk), and the price of flash memory has really dropped in the last few years. Makes it more portable if there is a handheld component that you can take on the road too, so it makes sense.
