Is it possible to watch that Good Morning America show here?

Yeah people see the headlines after the medical suspensions are made after an event. You'll see BJPenn.com and Joe.ie sensationalizing it too but AFAIK if they get cleared they can still fight.

Both DC and Jones on set of GMA, that's your main.

How does everyone think it'll do PPV buy wise with McGregor off the card? Jones/DC I did 820k with ALOT of hype behind it. A lot of people will buy UFC 200 because it's UFC 200 but I think it'll be lucky to break a million buys. The ratings from the weekends prelims (usually a good indication of overall buys) were very low.

the Jones fight the other day was a bit uninspiring i thing they will go full hype train, \Jones giving DC the finger is only the beginning

It'll clear a million but not by too much.

Well it's just been confirmed on Good Morning America that Jones vs DC is the main event for 200.

On the 1 year anniversary of Jones hit and run arrest. Aww shucks

So if Aldo or Edgar were to pull out with injury before 200, do you reckon they'd put McGregor in against one of them at a catch weight? Or would they call someone else in as McGregor v Aldo/Edgar will headline at a PPV at some stage down the line so might be a waste of a good main fight?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,572 ✭✭✭XsApollo

Well IMO McGregor now should be focusing on getting down to 145 just in case,
Plenty of time now to get ready.

Someone else. Conor will most likely fight Diaz at 201 so they won't risk that for a pointless catch weight fight.

He'll fight the winner for the title after or he'll vacate.

I think Conor will be in no mood to rescue any card from now on.

I'd say if he as much as stubs his toe getting out of the shower, he'll likely pull in future :)

He won't be able to prepare for 2 fights though. He's most likely fighting Diaz at 170.

Depending on who gets injured I think Mendes or Cub Swanson would be the likely replacements considering Holloway is fighting at 199

I don't think either Aldo or Frankie pull out, they both see this as a very winnable fight. I don't know who Dana plans on Conor fighting at 201 or 202 though as it could be the end of the year by the time the winner of Frankie or Jose is ready. It would be excellent if they just scrapped that interim fight, picked one and had Conor fight them in July at 145 for the belt.

That would weaken an already lame enough 200, not a chance.

Just reading there that DC didn't want to go to NY as he would miss his kid's play recital and so UFC have sent a camera crew to his school and will stream the play to him in NY later today.

    Pretty cool.

No I mean, get Conor back on 200 but fight either Aldo or Frankie for the title, as it should have always been. Best thing that could come of all this is if he just forgets about Nate for a while and get back to business.

Agreed, and I really hope they don't do that. Aldo v Edgar is the fight I'm most interested in at this stage.

but he's under contract to do publicity

Well he might not get his fight at 170 after all the crap that went on.
Plus Dana said his next fight is the winner of Aldo - Frankie.
    Anyway we will see.
It would be ironic if Edgar pulled out and Connor couldn't step in because he wasn't ready :-D

So? That doesn't mean the UFC had to go to the school and stream the recital for him

It was a cool thing for them to do.

I thought Ariel was being sarcastic when he was reporting this on Twitter. Good to know the UFC know how streaming works. Wasn't sure they did.

He said he's a possibility for 201, so it's not gonna be Aldo or Edgar. It's going to be Diaz 100%, the first fight did 1.5m PPV buys without any promotion. The UFC are licking their lips at the thought of it and are probably delighted he asked for a rematch.

I would love if the fight wasn't at 170 but my guess is Dana will keep it there to keep him sweet after pulling him from 200. He's still the poster boy and they need him as much as he needs them.

Why would he step in? I certainly wouldn't be doing them any favours if I was him.

Dana's comments seem very contradictory from that press conference. He said Conor's next fight would definitely be a title defence. Followed by he will fight at either 201 or 202.

Very little chance of Aldo or Edgar being ready for those cards as they will likely be August/September.

This suggests that Conor's next fight will indeed be Diaz. But either way Dana is lying again.

Or... Maybe he meant someone else's title defence? Like... Lawler??

    Kidding!

I'd say if he as much as stubs his toe getting out of the shower, he'll likely pull in future :)

The main reason Conor didn't pull out of fights before was that he was making millions for the fight, if he has the choice in the future of fighting and making money or waiting months on a re-schedule he'll almost certainly fight

I hope they will fight conor and nate at 201 or 202 at 155 this time.

Dana meant Conor's next fight after Diaz, in my view.

The lie from the press conference was where he said he was working on a new opponent for Diaz. Diaz was given a "choice" before the press conference - fight against a new opponent in 200 (where you won't be main event and will probably get less money) or wait till 201/202 to be the main event against McGregor.

I don't buy for a second that Dana was surprised when Diaz said "Its McGregor or nobody" at the press conference. He wanted to be seen to offer Diaz the 200 opportunity, but Jones-Cormier has been his plan to headline 200 since before that press conference.

It's at least a 50/50 chance that one of them pulls out before 200.

All-in-all it just means that 200 is going to be another good UFC bill, but nothing out of the ordinary - better than some cards, not as good as others.

I think conor's thinking is he needs to fight Diaz and beat him in order to get his confidence back.

He thought he could beat anyone including lawler.

Once he fights and beats Diaz he's then ready for the 145 fight.

In my opinion it's a confidence thing.

I agree, he needs to prove to himself that he can do it. He said in an interview once that the very idea of losing never enters his mind when facing a fight. It entered his mind when he tapped to Diaz and he needs to exorcise it.

I'd say avoiding the cut back to 145 is a big reason too. It's harsh he finds himself in this position as the original fight with RDA had him going for an unprecedented 2 titles at different weights & even a loss would've left him in a good position as RDA looks so strong at 155.

What is lame about 200 other than McGee not being on the card?
