This, also got a clear Spigen one off Amazon. Don't like it, but it's thin and seems to protect it well

My work moved to Eir from Vodafone, and I believe Eir use the 3 network, it's hopeless as you say.

Eir do not use the 3 Network.

They site share with 3. As in they have Base stations on 3 owned sites and visa-versa.

I'd recommend not going anywhere near three right now. Their network is in shambles due to their o2 takeover.

I normally had zero coverage issues at home but now I rarely even get anything but edge data and and randomly loose connection altogether.

Three aren't taking the issue seriously and are just giving the boiler plate response each time and aren't even trying to fix the issue.

Formerly a three hater i moved to three from meteor and enjoying 4G+ and it seems constant enough within a 5-10km radius of dublin city

Former recent Three customer. 2 words about their 3G/4G network: steer clear!

I moved from O2 to Three .... and promptly switched to Vodafone ... The Three network is a shambles right now imho

Moved from Three myself and took company phones with me to Eir/eMobile. Coverage is excellent and the 4G speeds are great.

The Three network was dreadful. Constant 3G/Edge switching issues and patchy coverage even in Dublin.

Edit: Off topic already but just to add - Eir Business currently have a 20 EUR /month SIM only plan - unlimited inclusive minutes, texts, landline calls, 15Gb internet and 250MB data roaming (data roaming in UK.EU.USA). Not sure if you can sign up to their biz plan as a consumer though.

is Vodafone worth the extra cash and lower data plans? iD signal is brutal in rural areas.

    I'm going to say "No"

While the signal/coverage is better, it's not hugely so (I found the 4G performance to be pretty poor generally). It's significantly more expensive for less package and their back-office support is shocking!

I had a billing issue with them where they took money they weren't supposed to that I ultimately had to wait until I got a threatening letter from them to be able to contact someone directly - it was to do with a final bill and as I'd ported out their automated VRU system didn't recognise my phone number, but luckily the letter had their switchboard number which is non-existent on their website so I finally got the Collections team in Dublin.

Never again! Unfortunately eircom's internal ops are no better!

You can't.. you need a CRO/VAT number before they'll accept it. I looked at it as a way to retain the value of my current 3 Business SIM only plan but I'd need to register myself as a sole trader first it seems.

I stick with VF for their 4G speeds in Cork and Limerick. I consistently get between 80 and 100Mbps down and around 40Mbps up. On Three which is an absolute disgrace I was getting 1/20th of that speed. In fact 3Mbps in same areas was the max download and upload was a couple hundred k. Absolute and utter rubbish.

Just did a test on 3 there. 45Mb down in a normal 4g zone. Overall, I found Vodafone faster, but what use is 80-100Mb/s down on a capped plan? I used to get 16gb a month from Vodafone and I had to keep an eye on my usage.

I guess Three coverage depends where you live and travel to/from but like a lot of users here Three has sucked for me.

To answer your question as to what use is 80-100Mb/s down on a capped plan, I fail to see how being capped has anything to do with how much data you use. It just means a fast connection will download or upload faster. It's still the users responsibility to track their usage whether it's a slow or fast connection. I understand what you are probably alluding to though. When people have a fast connection they tend to avail of netflix, plex, and other streaming services more often as their connection can handle it with it. As a result they tend so reach their cap a lot quicker. But that's the users fault.

Got the phone recently, blown away by how good it is.. Absolutely incredible phone. Coming off the HTC One M8, yet the S7 Edge is streets ahead.

Only thing I'm not seeing is the amazing battery life. Not that much better than the M8.

Screen quality is phenomenal. Got the VR as well, very enjoyable gadget.

Has anyones S7E not updated at all? The phone is working fine, but im starting to think its not updating. I've tried to download updates multiple times but it keeps saying it up to date

Right now its on the APB4 Baseband version. It hasn't downloaded an update since i got the phone

I bought it in CPW simfree, so i really have no idea whats going on.

Its not rooted or flashed with anything.

    Any ideas?

I'm still on ABP4 too, theres been one, maybe two updates released, just dont think Samsung have released them for our phones, they tend to release for different varients at different times.

Just a wild guess but surely Three's €660 has to be the lowest.

I'm looking for a good screen protector and found this on eBay. The postage to Ireland is frankly ridiculous for what it is though. Anyone know where I can get it for a reasonable price please?

Anyone having issues with the earpiece crackling while on the phone? My month old s7 is doing it. Contacted Samsung who sent me a list of their UK repair shops.
