I ordered the wireless fast charger the other day - the 2nd generation one. €62.00 from Littlewoods. Anyone using one? I'm curious will it work through my cover.

Has anyone upgraded to this handset with 3? What kind of funds were they asking you shell out? They have offered pretty meagre upgrades in the past, so come September I'm wondering if it might be worth getting or waiting further for something like the Note 6.

4/5 weeks ago. Offered the 7 for 240 and the edge for 240 on a €45 p/my 24 month contract.

Interesting. Come September there may be somewhere in the region of 50-100 off that, but I won't hold my breath :). The S7 should have future proofing for at least the duration of a renewed contract up to 2 years but who really knows in the world of tech - 2 years is a long time.

    Realistically it's only about 20 months. So 45 x20=€900 + 240 = €1140
Includes unlimited data 150 mins and 150 texts. Not too bad. More than enough, haven't exceeded my allowance in years.

Do these work through all / some / few covers?

I got an otterbox on mine but its protection ahead of convenience for me ... i.e. if the wireless charger would work with the cover then I wouldntget the wireless charger ... if it does work with an otterbox ... I'm very interested!

Does constant wireless charging damage the phone? I have mine on a wireless desk cradle all day at work.

Not constant wireless charging specifically. Constant charging by any means damanges a battery.

Battery life is generally described in terms of "charge cycles", e.g. a battery can be fully charged and discharged X amount of times before its degraded enough to be no longer capable of holding a good charge.

Your phone is always using power, and if its charging all day it will be constantly draining a little and charging back up to 100%, e.g it will go down to 99% but then charge back up to 100%. Over time all of this adds up and eats into the life of the battery.

Its why laptop batteries usually have a life of 18 months to 2 years before they are noticeably worse, but devices that are charged less frequently have batteries that will "live" longer.

For example, my kindle is 6 years old, but as it is only charged every 2 months or so, it hasnt degraded much at all as in its life its only been through 20 or 30 charge cycles. If that was a laptop that was 6 years old, where it had been through thousands of charge cycles, the battery would be able to hold half the capacity or even less than when it was new.

I think these batteries are different. I've had an s6 for a year now. I have it on the wireless dash mount throughout the day. Battery life hasn't changed any yet. Or should I say that the length out of a charge hasn't changed yet

Im pretty sure samsung have some aggressive powersaving techniques, as does the more recent versions of android which helps battery life considerably, however the batteries are still L-ion batteries and the charge cycle issue is prevalent in all L-ion batteries.

Got the wireless charger today. Works pretty well so far - even through my cover. It doesn't come with a plug or cable though.

Just picked up the fast charger from Parcel Motel. I think it's working fine as I was at 2% at 9:52 and at 7% right now as I post this. I have a Spigen Neo Hybrid case on it too.

Was looking through the best selling apps on Google Play a few days ago. Came across EZ Package Disabler (Samsung). It's a handy way of disabling the bloat.

Still not overly impressed with the battery on my S7 Edge. It's good alright, but nothing exceptional. For example, between the time I left for work and got there (around half an hour), I didn't use the phone at all but still lost 3%. I expected better tbh.

I'm new to Android so unclear about how SD cards are handled. Some of my apps appear to be able to write just fine to it, some give a write error. Any idea why this is so?

The SD card is used for storage of music and files. You cannot install apps etc... there.

You have to edit the permissions, I had this problem with Spotify and I can't remember how I fixed it.

how much use is it getting in that half hour?

    - are you watching movies/browsing the web?
    - do you have many apps that "call home" active?
    - is autosync enabled?
    - are you using the facebook app?

I can get 3 days out of mine now without rationing usage. If i go easy i could probably get 4. I did do a few things:

    - disable autosync. I dont need my phone polling for mails & alerts every few mins.

    - dont use the facebook app. its a battery killer. bookmark the fb page and save it to your phones home screen. 95% of the functionality without any of the battery drain. I think instagram & twitter are pretty heavy also but still not on the level of facebook. I use neither, not for power saving, but just because they are no interest to me.

-disable apps you dont use. The phone actively tells you what apps havnt been used in 3+ days so its pretty easy to do.

-run it in power save mode. Again, i dont need emails the second they are sent. whatsapp still works plenty quick. I dont notice any performance lag when running in the standard power save mode. screen might turn off a little quicker, thats about it.

-put the phone in extreme power saving mode at night. you really need the phone to be syncing all night, while you're asleep?

    Well folks.

Is anyone using the S7 in an otterbox??
Can you use a tempered glass screen protector with that case?? I bought the protector from an American site that was posted on here at a discount.. It's amazing quality.

That eBay seller of the regular wireless charger I purchased failed to cancel my order and I just collected it from Parcel Motel. If anyone's interested it's brand new and going for a tenner (only what I paid for it). Just to repeat that it's the regular wireless charger and not the fast one. Postage is extra.

I'd be interested in it - is it a Samsung one?
