I personally think the term megastar is a vast overreaction, he was a big deal in the Ufc and locally but megastar is getting a bit excited.

I disagree. He had Lots of big celebs going to his fights and wishing him well. Arnold Schwarzenegger for example sent personal messages. IMO Megreggor is well known out of UFC circles.

Conor is 9/4 to fight again this year with Sky Bet. Good odds IMO, doesn't seem to be a max bet either.

    Edit: Max bet is 55

WWE @ 5'9 & 170lbs. Who will he be fighting? The women?

McGregor is only interesting if you're a complete fanboy or want to see him fall hard coz he runs his mouth.

There are no specific rules or specific weight divisions in the WWE. He could wrestle for the "heavyweight" championship if he wanted.

Been away for a few hours enjoying the weather, any she or summation for the best baseless claims made?

Social media is a frightening reflection of society today. I don't understand how people can be so comfortable 'analysing' a situation with so little information available.

Or worse, people buying Dana 'best season of TUF so far' Whites version of events. Really?

Fair play to him, he's made a fair wedge in a short space and will probably get handy pay days for the rest of his life doing punditry and appearances.

Couldn't stand his forced bullsh1t but you have to admire a bloke who takes what he has and makes a mountain out of it.

    I'm guessing New York.

Tbh, I was calling for him to take a break after the Diaz loss.

Might be good for him, it would be interesting if he went to go train in some other gyms for a while. World class gyms I mean.

I'm enjoying making baseless assumptions for the sake of entertainment. That said I do acknowledge that there's no possible way anyone could even be close to actually knowing what's going on with Conor.

Actually does anyone know when the coverage deal with BT is up?

Sky are reporting on this again. They pretty much cover Conor exclusively when it comes to the UFC. If they were to make a bid when BT's deal was set to expire I imagine it would be much less lucrative (if at all) without Conor.

Regardless of his star power in America, he's helped the sport grow massively in Europe too and they've grown a lot of business in Europe because of him and opened up many new markets.

It'll be interesting times watching the post-McGregor era of UFC, and at the end of the day, that's how it's going to be viewed. BC - Before Conor and AD.... After Defeat :D:D:pac:

Does anyone really think that this whole furore is about anything else other than McGregor wanting more money?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,342 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

Not good for the Conor "I show up" McGregor thing really, I doubt he is retiring for good. I wonder how his contract is with regards how many fights he has on his deal. Even if he retires I am sure they have a clause that means he cannot compete for another organization for quite some time.

Brinksmanship is common but I do think that the money the UFC put into promoting these events makes it pretty understandable from their point of view, they have set a bar with these things, don't fulfill your promo stuff then you get pulled. Conor's status seems to make him a special case, hell, it does make him a special case in plenty of scenario's in the UFC but there was going to come a clash, a falling out, a time when the UFC say no, and try to rein him in and then we would see what would happen when that occurred.

A rift has been coming a long time tbh, it was inevitable. Interesting times ahead anyway when more comes out on it.

When the dust settled he realised that Nate after a few months training with a proper team would slap his ass into the middle of next week, so he chickened out!!! Clown! all the other stories are rubbish!

To reiterate the post from this morning as some of you seem to have missed it..

So the news broke late last night and some of you are only seeing it now. Lets be very clear on a few things..

We all know the story so far - so lets keep the theories and comments sensible and not go down the route of trolling nonsense for the sake of it. There will be more to unfold on the story and anything outside of what we know so far is just speculation...try not to let the whole thing go to your head and post something stupid, its only going to get you a break from the forum.

To all the new visitors - if you don't like MMA or dont like Conor McGregor that's fine but don't come in trolling and expect to be sticking around. Engage in reasonable discussion or you will be shown the door.

I saw this coming since his humiliating defeat to Diaz, once he had his mother making excuses for him, i.e he lost because he had a chest infection, the writing was on the wall.

one benefit if mcgregor really is done, the number of trolls with low posts we get in here will go waaaaay down!

So a hearsay post on boards.ie = having his mother make excuses for him. Right.

So she said it to some lads on a flight who then posted it on here and your taking that as evidence of McGregor planting excuses with his mother in the hope of what...it's posted on here?

Put a few quid down on this, the odds are pretty good. Bet365 have it at 1/2.

    Cheers.
