Would anyone consider selling their PS4/XBox if the NX is a conventional more powerful console? I think I would be tempted.

Nope, but will get the NX at launch, cannot use VR so will be keeping my PS4 till a new model is offically confirmed and and see what it offers.

I'd be very surprised if there's any mention of VR from Nintendo in relation to the NX - it's a very expensive technology right now and would be a barrier to getting the new machine into as many homes as possible as I see it. If the NX is powerful and PC like, then maybe existing VR solutions might work with it in time.

If Nintendo nail the launch with a powerful machine, a few killer games and a good online infrastructure, that will be surprise enough for me.

Maybe, just maybe, they could provide the facility to cast to your mobile phone, allowing VR for NX owners with the low entrance price of a Google Cardboard viewer, about a tenner.
If they could sort out the lag they'd be laughing!

...or a neck crippling head-hugger that you slot the WiiU gamepad into! You want backwards compatibility? Evil Genie says : granted!

The only reason to sell my PS4 or xbox one will be if newer versions comes out, like rumored ps4k or xbox one 1.02.
A little OT, but I hadn't heard those rumours. It must be true. I have seen Brand new Xbox one's and PS4's for sale for €250 and collectors editions with 1TB SSHD and collectible trinkets for ~€290. I didn't know what was going on. It started with the Xbox, so I thought they were in a spot of bother with their sales. But now the PS4 is everywhere at low prices with PSTV and extra controllers etc.. all sorts of bundles.
(All France/Germany mostly and a bit of Spain and Italy).

I know you're messing, but I wonder will they have a 'headband' that you could slot a slim phablet type controller into -> backwards compatible and VR and Portable... (A "phone" :D), their own OS with switch through those three could be pretty cool.

I think its funny that Nintendo haven't said a single thing about NX except its in development and we have all these rumours that I'd bet 99.9% are bull****. I wreckon they are so stupid with there genius that they are trying to go for another Wii and some gimicky crap that will appeal to the family's and we will be left high and dry as proper Nintendo fans looking for something simple powerful and simple.
    Wii 2 incoming....

No way. I'll be upgrading to PS4K and getting an NX this year.

I don't drink or smoke or socialise much so this what my money goes on alright.

    You won't see me judging!
Not a hope. I always sort myself with all possible consoles for generation. Got pc, ps4, xbox one, 3ds, ps vita right now. And even if most of them collecting dust for months I will never sell them, because when some specific platform game comes out I just go and buy and don't worry, that I don't have that platform to play it on. For example now everything is collecting dust apart from 3ds. Few months before everything was collecting dust, but ps4 was played all the time. Who knows what I will be playing next month. :)

I wish I could share your attitude, seriously! I was this close* to buying an Xbox for Forza Horizon 2 and a Vita for Persona 4 at different stages and I eventually bottled it. I was afraid of buyer's remorse in the end.

I then thought I should hang on until the NX is announced and save my money for that. The Vita still haunts my dreams though, even though it's a dead console.

The following comes from Emily Rogers...

    - in a single year, the NX will build a larger library of games than Wii U produced in three or four years
    - goal behind NX is to vastly increase the software output from Nintendo’s first party teams and studios
    - entire process of how Nintendo develops and produces software has gone through radical changes
    - new strategy that was put in place to create and release first party software at a faster rate
    - multiple unannounced Wii U projects were moved over to NX
    - NX could potentially see the highest output of first party software over its lifespan in the company’s history

As long as they don't go for quantity over quality

So, that's votes all around for an early Mario Tennis update?
    Unexpected......

Long as its not more of these mediocre middle tier titles we've been getting recently. Triforce heroes, paper jam, mario tennis, federation force etc, they're lame. I'd rather wait and get proper games than a flood of the meh we've had.

Don't forget Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival, probably the worst offender. And let's see what todays reviews bring. It shouldn't and hopefully isn't as bad as the others. Not having online multiplayer is a major negative for me. Imagine Splatoon or MK8 without it.

Speaking of which, MT: US and the Luigi amiibo just arrived in the post today from Amazon.

Seems more and more likely that all the rather 3rd rate franchise updates and spinoffs were just so Nintendo could re-allocate those resources to developing first party releases of quality on the NX, so I'd say if it sold a whole lot on the NX, Splatoon/Mario Kart/SSB and the others they are going to see quick updates onto the new console, perhaps even quicker we'll see those franchise with pitiful updates, Animal Crossing, Metroid, are almost certain to have launch window updates, so new Metroid and Animal Crossing in 2017 at the latest.

They may also kiss goodbye to the likes of Mario Kart and Animal Crossing only having one significant release per console generation, it doesn't seem to have harmed the Legend of Zelda series in anyway having multiple releases across the two major, current Nintendo platforms.

I agree with you there, which is why I'd be so sure NX will be this year. Otherwise we'll have two years in a row that are relatively barren, which even Nintendo in their silliness wouldn't want.

Star Fox without mutiplayer is quite a bit different than MK and Splatoon, a racing and third person shooter game. I would have preferred it in as well but nothing like those games without it. The series has never had multiplayer anywhere near the front, unlike the other 2.

The NX grows ever closer. Nintendo's PAX schedule is very minimal.

    Wii U

    Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE
    Star Fox Zero
    Nintendo

    3DS

    Kirby: Planet Robobot
    Monster Hunter Generations
    Metroid Prime: Federation Force

Star Fox Assault had a tonne of multiplayer as did other games in the franchise besides. I'll just leave this here as to why online multiplayer wasn't in Star Fox 64 3D.

Well if they're gonna at least do a basic reveal before E3, they've got like 6 weeks? For a direct for some sort.

With all the small news we've had today on twitter and what not, seems like they're getting the small stuff out of the way to gear up for a big direct.

I never said it didn't have multiplayer, I said it wasn't out at the front and certainly absolutely nothing near every iteration of Mario Kart and the 1 game of Splatoon. As I said, I would have preferred it, but the comparison to Mario Kart and Splatoon without multiplayer isn't anywhere near the same.

What I mean is Star Fox Zero I'll probably beat and forget about in a day or two. MK8 I play still and play in a league every week. The same with Splatoon, I play it still and will play in the Spongebob Squarepants Splatfest this weekend. Without online I wouldn't be doing so. Smash in fairness has substantial single player play besides the online aspects.

I once unwrapped a game. It was Luigi U and now it's worth a small fortune.

I wonder if Nintendo will switch to paid online subs.

More importantly, will the NX have a handle?
