If eir extreme say it available then I would say you might have it soon dont think it a error now.I though at first when you post it that might have been but looking at annoucement doesn't seem to be.it say when I try it say eir fibre and for you eir extreme.

can you order eir fibre, if thats available to you, you may as well go for it in the meantime.

The Fibre by County link on the Eir website is not updated yet, hopefully they will update this very soon with a proper breakdown of the locations in todays named exchanges.

Interesting to note that the Curragh camp is on the list but if you look at the map the blue lines stop a few kms in all directions. It's just blank.
They have run some the fibre through some of the roads so can connect to some of houses or maybe there other reason they do it.

Eir has announced the locations of its new rural fibre broadband rollout.

The company says that it will connect 100,000 homes and businesses in rural and regional locations across all 26 counties over the next 12 months. It says that the service will be a fibre broadband product that delivers 1Gbs, equivalent to 1,000Mbs.

Here is a list of the rural locations, by county, and the number of houses/businesses to be covered as part of the initial 100,000-home fibre rollout:

Houses connected to the exchange can they all get this? The blue lines are just following roads as far i can tell. My house is not near a road with the blue line, but i am connected to the exchange, and due for the 70 mb upgrade this summer now.

It gets better, I clicked fibre services live on the map and then the exchange and it says FTTH available winter 2016.

Unless you're really close to the exchange you might not get anywhere near 70mb

FTTH to the exchange, is the plan isn't it? Lot of those places are connected to the exchange already getting 70meg. I live near some of areas getting FTTH winter 2016.

Some of those areas have only got 70meg upgrade recently, i know because i only live a few miles away from one of those villages and down for FTTH this Winter 2016

I just checked the folks house number in the line checker on the extreme page and got the attached result. It is in north Monaghan about 5km from the Emyvale exchange.. I thought it must be a mistake so I've checked 5-6 numbers in the general area and they are all reporting the very same thing..

The best currently in that area is a 3MB ADSL connection with 1-2MB actual speeds..

Can this be correct? Surely they all wouldn't be wrong in the database?

Only 380-400 metres away from the exchange. Only on 7 meg package 324kb upload ASDL1.

I have had lot of issues the last 8 months, my connection is got worse. They blaming congestion Eir said i have to wait for the upgrade. I was getting 6.3 meg before that.

It is happen we now know the locations getting it in 2016.we should start seeing some work happen this month just hope I get FTTH the blue end outside my gate and the summerhill map all fuzz can't see anything when you zoom in.They trimmed all the hedges and some of the road was surprised they normal don't do the road.
If you see a pp for a new build along the road thats blulined to your house object on the grounds that they will take your fibre...:P

I was talking about where i live really. One of the villages announced for FTTH winter 2016, has only in last three weeks went live with 70meg.

If my area is upgraded this summer maybe they will just add my area for the FTTH upgrade also?

I think they would all be very happy with FTTC still, ADSL terrible out that way!

Must check that location to see if the cabinet has been upgraded next time I'm down!

    Cheers

From what i gather, a fibre run along a blue line goes as far as how many fibres in the cable...each house gets two..1 spare, 1 live.

so if by chance someone builds a house before your house on the blue line, they might take the fibre that is due to you...just a hunch..;)

ive looked at some of the exchanges in todays announcement and the number of homes vs the number of blue lines seems to be similar so it looks like when they announce an exchange that all the homes along the blue lines in that exchange area will get done. They also appear to cover the rural areas where there are large ribbon developments and plenty of potential customers.

Also if you look at the fibre network map on the fibre rollout map you can kinda workout the possibility's of where the 2nd phase will be. All exchanges in todays announcement either say Winter 2016 or Autumn/Winter 2016. However some exchanges are saying 2017 with no time of year listed, my guess is that these exchanges will be possibly next in line. Then there are the ones which say 2017-2020 which I guess are earmarked further down the line.

Just checked my phone number and although I am not amongst the 100,000 listed today, I am told I should have FTTH in 1 year ......... IF only I could believe it!

This kinda thing confuses me. There's a village in the back end of nowhere 16Km from me getting FTTH by 2016 for 100 houses!! No one there... No businesses to speak of. Just rural dotted housing on the side of a mountain. Meanwhile there's many more multiples of houses around my village, including a famous 5 star hotel, all on congested ADSL1, unable to get FTTC, connected to an exchange on the core fibre network! Makes no sense.

well that did happen someone did build a houses.I'm screwed just my luck like alway and if does happen to me no bidder(s) gona go near like 6 houses.

Our village which is near to another one is getting done '17-'20 as I know that the exchange there is only connected to the fibre backbone via microwave...so that would have to be upgraded first..and our village is getting all services put in ducts sometime within the next year..

I know, we've been told by Eir on phone and in announcements for about two years now that just efibre is "only round the corner".... They basically keep promising us faster speeds but never have done a single thing for us. That's why we pay Vodafone instead, no point being with Eir and paying more. And of course for this FTTH map, we are pretty much the only village in the area not with blue lines...

Will these fibre lines be leased out to other providers like the copper lines?

Or will these be exclusive to Eir?
