This roll out is not aimed at customers than can currently get FTTC. It is not targeting the high density areas. It will be serving the footprints outside of the FTTC coverage areas. These are the low hanging fruit that the NBP would have captured. The remaining NBP areas are now much more remote and therefore even less viable commercially even under NBP.

Is there anywhere that you can drill down the list of actual houses/roads/local areas that these 100,000 locations cover. Or is that information locked in vault in the bowels of Eir HQ?

Nah, I'm ok. I have FTTC and am close enough to a cabinet to get around 80mbps, which is enough for my needs. My interest is for other family members who are 3kms away and have a blue line passing their semi-rural estate, but not going in. Am I wrong in assuming that these type of small estates will not get fibre in this roll-out?

Any chance you could take a picture of that "large green box". I'm trying to figure out what I should be looking out for.

This is the "green box" that appeared a few weeks ago...

how is the phone line fed to the estate..underground ducting? our estate has the lines traveling into the estate, and we have ducting, how many houses in estate?

It a exchange with the power beside more than likely they would using this to hook people up to FTTH or vdsl if they put FTTC beside it but don't think that happen.

I noticed Ballybofey in Donegal was on the FTTH list, with 780 homes to get the service, and wanted to see how well these numbers would tie in with all the routes from the town on the Fibre Broadband Network Coverage Map.

Starting from a point beyond the existing FTTC cabinets, I started counting properties along all the routes on the map, using the eircode map to make it easier to identify homes. I got an estimate of around 900 homes.

I could have underestimated the extent of FTTC coverage but overall it looks like the blue routes on the map match the proposed numbers fairly well in this case.

All services are underground. 16 houses (mansions:D).

Interesting to note that the Curragh camp is on the list but if you look at the map the blue lines stop a few kms in all directions. It's just blank.

When the time comes and they see them running the fibre...tell them to put a sign up saying 'hot cup of tay an a bun in here..ah go on... t&c's apply':D

KNN have several hundred staff that will be doing a large portion of the legwork.

It leaves 657,000 homes on the NBP which is still quite a lot I say the bidder(s) and Government aren't happy but they press along.
No, all the houses still remain in the NBP.

That only changes if Eir completes the process to get the map changed, which they have declined to do. As things stand, unless they fulfill all the criteria to get their 'committed' houses accepted, and the map changed, then the map only changes if houses are actually connected.

What would be fun is to have the NBP contracts awarded with schedules and deadlines published. And, then watch Eir scramble to connect the most profitable ones before the contract winner, forcing last minute map changes.

430 homes from Ennis exchange according to the info, to get FTTH this year.

Having a quick browse along the blue lines within the Ennis exchange boundaries, it would appear that all of those blue lines are intended to be connected.

(I wonder if my son has a spare room for me ...)

Watching the incumbent operator scramble - that would bring tears of joy my friend!:D

last week I posted in this thread that when I checked the Eir Extreme checker that it was saying that its available in my area but my line is not activated yet. Perhaps this is why it was saying that!
I checked today and its still saying that for Eir Extreme while totally failing on the FTTC checker. On the Eircom map is now says 540 homes will have FTTH by Autumn/Winter 2016 in the Dunshaughlin area.

See my post above, it seems the blue lines doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Im not 100% sure yet! but it is looking good! The checker shouldnt really say available in the area when it clearly isn't yet! It should say something like 'Good News Fibre Extreme will be available in your area Autumn/Winter 2016'. I would be happier if it said something like that as to me the current message still reads like a database error. Hopefully they will update the map soon showing which blue lines are in the plan for this year. Each location listed in today's papers probably includes all the blue lines that connect out of the exchange.

If eir extreme say it available then I would say you might have it soon dont think it a error now.I though at first when you post it that might have been but looking at annoucement doesn't seem to be.it say when I try it say eir fibre and for you eir extreme.

Is this already available in some locations?

If I enter my phone number it says congrats extreme is available in your area! This is Monaghan town.,

It's quite steep though, not sure if I could justify it yet...
