    Hey guys.

Just letting you know that I've partnered with a UK Competitive Gaming company called Epic Lan.

I used to do online radio for them when they still had Epic Radio going but that closed in 2012.

They've revived the team though for their new streaming venture which is currently in soft launch phase.

I did my first show for them last Sunday and it was very fun so I'd like to seeing some of you guys there too would be great.

You can check it out every 7pm on www.twitch.tv/epiclan .

The show is aptly titled "MrVestek's Retro Reloaded".

I'll either be playing retro videogames from various consoles on both hardware and software emulators. I'll also be playing PC based retro HD remakes such as Abe's New n' Tasty for instance.

Anyway would be great to see some of you there, cheers!

Ah nothing wrong with a woody (:P), be nice if they had CRTs in them and decent sticks & buttons (que ball vs bat top discsussion). If they do a decent job it could be a nice place for an A&R beers.

Not gonna lie but it's about time Dublin got something like this.

I just hope they don't get the same person that put the arcade cab in their shop and in Lafayette's.

Whoever it is doing up those monstrosities doesn't seem to know how to calibrate the buttons properly.

Player 1 is actually Player 2. Player 2 is Button 3 and stupid crap like that.

    It's absolutely woeful.

Pdbhp, he hasn't been around in a while now, nice guy though.
Him and Sparks have kinda vanished from the forum :(

I want to get this, because free is good, right?

    http://www.destructoid.com/you-can-grab-omikron-for-free-in-remembrance-of-david-bowie-334590.phtml

On the other hand...it's a David Cage game.

It's worth playing for how bananas it is. David Cages games have gotten progressively less interesting with each release but his old stuff is imaginative and insane enough to enjoy.

If they've anything to do with the ****, they'll be set to €2/play:eek:
I would love to see something like this, but to be successful they'll need to be using proper cabs and 50p/play

Not a bad idea but it's going to be filled with Mame cabinets more than likely. One problem there is that if they don't have original boards they are going to be running the risk of copyright claims.

Bah! As if thats enforced in Ireland! :p

Sure theres one of those cabs in a bar in Cork and i cant see it being removed anytime soon!

This sounds like a great proposal, and would make a very nice pre-beers meet up place. :)

Retro: Awww, but you let RetroPlayer in.

RAGE: No Retroooos. We're allowed to have one.

Or at least my line would have made sense if you left out the apostrophe.

I think from now on I'm only going to buy jap consoles, it really is worth the wait in the post.
Just looking at prices for fighters on the saturn, the NTSC-U\PAL (who would want to play 50hz fighters for those prices) versions of most games are always at least twice the price.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 53,260 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

It's the same for most games as well. If it doesn't need english text the japanese version is the way to go. Look at the price different of Dracula X in the West compared to Japan. It's unfortunate the prices of these games that aren't even rare have started to go up lately though. I need to pick up a japanese copy of Hagane quick, the price is insane when last year you could get it from ebay for 20. It's closing in on American prices (which is only rare due to it being a blockbuster exclusive, it's not rare anywhere else in the world).

    Woohoo!

After Steve mentioned the Remix Mini Android device he bought recently, I was intrigued by Remix OS,
the Desktop like Android OS with Multi tasking windows for apps.

Just discovered they have released Remix OS for free 4 days ago!

    http://www.jide.com/en/remixos-for-pc

Can't wait to try it out on my PC.

I use the 400 in 1 in my Famicom and it works just fine.

Anyone know where I might get a copy of Truxton?
I find I don't own it and need a copy for my Megadrive.
Classic Game Room has been talking it up and I don't own it yet!

They are the same pair of carts I got for the Twin Famicom and both work perfectly, nice mix of games on them as well.

Anyone have/tried the Revo K101 Gameboy Advance clone? http://www.k1gbasp.com/

Lost my GBA SP a while back and came across this while looking for a replacement.

I don't know, for that price you can probably pick up a GBA:SP AGS-101, with the super screen, or buy a premodded GBA classic, I think Andrew has one here and says it's excellent.
You can't get better build or buttons/controls than the original, clones almost always make the buyer suffer compromises in these areas.

God damn it, I've been meaning to buy that for absolutely years and it was always a fairly common cheap game that went for easy money so I put it on the long finger.

Now CIB copies are up to about €50.

    Yeah, it's gone crazy.
This retro gaming thing was fantastic, but now the neckbeards have gotten involved, prices are only going up.
The only retro item that's resistant to this upward momentum is the Philips CDi, because it's sh1t.

The CDi, obscure, obsolete, hated by everyone...it's only a matter of time before the ironic hipster neckbeards discover them too.

    Retr0 will be their god.

Careful now, Retro will bring it down as much as possible, judging from what he said to me.

€50?!? I picked up a boxed jap version there a few months ago and it was only like €20 posted

If anyone has Steve Bailey on facebook he sells it quite often CIB for decent prices.

What's the difference between the existing c64 book from bitmap books and the new one that just hit kickstarter?
