What's the difference between the existing c64 book from bitmap books and the new one that just hit kickstarter?

    Introduction

In 2014 we launched a campaign for our first book called Commodore 64: a visual Commpendium. This celebration of the finest C64 games and graphics was published later the same year to considerable critical acclaim. Later that year we launched a campaign for the second book in the compendium series called Commodore Amiga: a visual Commpendium which again was successfully funded and published in early 2015.

Due to the increased funding, the Amiga book weighed in at 424 pages, nearly twice the size of the C64 book (220 pages) and contained significantly more editorial content such as artist interviews and developer profiles. Ever since this, the original C64 book has felt a little 'dwarfed' by its big brother, so this campaign is to bring the C64 book more in line with the Amiga volume. This campaign is not intended to replace the first book, but to add to it and make it more extensive.

    How it will work

To respect the original backers and customers of the Commodore 64 book, our solution is to produce a second edition of the book with additional content. This will come in a 3mm board slipcase, with a space for the first book to slot next to it. It's been designed so there is no need to re-purchase the first edition again to get the extra content.

You can also buy the new version of the book that combines the old version and new into just one large book(like the Amiga book).

Oh man... Can't believe you guys talked about Myth and I missed out.

Was probably my favourite game when I was a kid. Really got me interested in Norse, Greek and Egyptian mythology too.

I had the C64 version so it used to confuse the hell out of me in school when talking to other kids who were playing it as they were on the speccy version which was completely different.

The puzzles are pretty crazy, and trying to work out the solutions as a kid before the internet existed and when everyone had different versions of the game was a bit of a nightmare.

The C64 version was really tough, especially the pixel perfect movement you had to make it through the traps in the Egyptian levels. Think I made it to the last level once. The Amiga version came out much later and they replaced the main character with Sláine from 2000AD for some reason. It was much easier and I was able to beat that version.

Great game , may give it another go. Some of the puzzles were difficult. Although cant remember any.

For those that need or are looking for any arcade, computer or console game covers or artwork, I've upgraded my artwork site(and moved to a new host).

Still in the process of getting all the artwork configured, but it's a huge storage increase over the old site and lots more to come. All that ultra quality arcade stuff that most people want(and others wrongly charge you for elsewhere!) is now hosted directly on the site, so can be downloaded, well, directly :)
It'll be a couple of days before its 100 percent stocked, but most is up now.

or, as i see some game artwork as just good "artwork", game or not. I grabbed the below name as well :)

For example on the first level you have to get a sword. Cut down a skeleton hanging from a chain so it lands in the lava. Get a fireball. Cut a skeleton's head off so it pops in the lava. Then the devil appears and you have to use fireballs to kill him and he drops a trident which you then use on Cerberus to escape Hades.

Cheers, just doing my bit for the scene.

I use the random artwork selector to choose what games I'll play on MAME or consoles(if i don't have it on console it's off to the emu's :))

That was the only Fifa I put any time into as well!
Like most the 3DO catalogue, it was an excuse to show off my surround sound system, Prologic Amp, speakers and lots of cable, thanks to Richer Sounds back in the day, on the quays.
With that in place it was the sounds of the stadium, roaring around you, but nothing bettered simply the intro to Return Fire.

So I picked up that jap PS3 that was on adverts. Looks pretty clean inside but before I plug it in and potentially fry it,anyone know if I need a step down? Google seems to suggest no and that the PSU is multi-voltage but just want to be sure! The power specs on the outside just list the Japanese ones and not 120~240v.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 33,733 ✭✭✭✭Myrddin

Everything I've read suggests it's dual voltage...but not having 100~240 on it would put me off risking it until something more concrete can be found.

Agreed, dont trust google without more info.
Are there any labels on it?

I'll throw up a pic of the specs shortly. Pretty much every thread I've come across suggests that even though it says 110v on the outside, the PSU is multi voltage.

Sorry for the multi posts but came across this:

    http://www.ps3devwiki.com/ps3/Power_Supply

Seems to be that it'll work ok and that it's only PAL consoles that have a restricted power supply. Going to give it a go and see what happens!

    I've a us PS3 and it's definitely multi voltage.

I'm case something happens I'd just like to say to Atavan its been a pleasure knowing you and I'm sorry you are about to possibly die in a hail of exploding PS3 ans burn your house down, but not necessarily in that order....

that site was a lifesaver , currently faffing about with a cardboard VR space invaders remake running on an arcade cab, I was stuck for a nice hi rez marquee until I nabbed it from yourself so cheers!
If anyone has an android and a google cardboard and wants to try a 'not totally playable or finished' version from a few days ago , try here , or here for the the current version of it
the VR lookaround and in game firing should work, currently it needs a bluetooth keyboard left and right to move the ship ,( shortly you should be able to move the ship by looking at the left and right arrows)
Need to add in the game logic , work out how to get onGaze controls working and some other stuff..

(had a rake of site problems uploading so hopefully link will work)

All that worrying about voltage and I realised I don't even have the right power cable for it or a plug adapter. So I'll be fine....for now.

Yeah there's been login issues since the attack. Pages seem to be taking ages to load too.

Yeah, I couldnt login at all for a day or so. I found a workaround, login on the mobile site(http://touch.boards.ie/) and then select the desktop site while logged it.

Boards is still dog slow for me though :(
