Is kinda supposed to be like blind date or that programme where your potential date looks in your bedroom to figure out what you're like.

Problem is that Irish speakers that are prepared to go on to tend to be a certain type of person,

My friend went on a tg4 date show, basically blind date, it was all fixed and they got them drunk beforehand. IIRC she wasn't chosen but still scored yer man afterwards.

Pioc do ride. Sweet fcukin jesus. Sometimes the Irish language makes me cringe. Had to look up who that presenter was though after Colm posted that flattering still of her :pac:

I don't speak Irish. It just looks like "Pick the ride" to me.

I was reasonably fluent until the day I finished my Leaving Cert. Can barely string a sentence together now.

    that's basically what it is.

you either get the ride off one of the contestants or let advance potato break your car to the value of €250

All I know is onsha, failte, cocomelish and the stuff you'd find on number plates like Baile Atha Cliath. :P

Apologies for the spelling and stuff.

My French would be better than my level of Irish and I'm not great at French as I've forgotten most of it. I was always weak at languages more of a maths, physics, chemistry person.

Lads, where can I get a mini fire extinguisher? One for the car, to have stored in the boot just in case. I meant to get one a year ago, but never did. Saw a car on fire there not so long back and it got me thinking! I presume they're not expensive?

My friend has a 2000 Polo she can't sell. Insure rule changes the main reason. Any idea how much to expect if she gets it scrapped?

Allegedly scrap prices have gone through the floor - it will probably cost her money to have it taken away by the sounds of it.

That's probably another effect of the insurance-driven panic to get rid of yokes over a certain age, may the devil boil them in their own piss!

mad isn't it what a "little" change can make. a 2000 Polo, perfectly serviceable, usable car. can't sell it because it's so hard to insure and it would actually cost you money to have it removed.

Cheers guys. Didn't think things were that bad. If she can get one or two hundred on donedeal, she may take it.

in fairness, it's probably still salable, everything is. is it advertised at the moment? a good ad and the right price will sell anything. post up a link to the ad if you can.

If you had a 99-00 Yaris for under a grand you'd be eaten alive for it.
I don't think old polos are as desirable as they used to be. Insurance aside.

Apparently Galway metal were €10 a ton during the week for cars!!

The 15 year old rule/scrap prices will mean a lot of cheap cars... I'v noticed a few '96/'97 Fiestas, Corsas and Ka' for €150/€200.

I had a '00 up until this year, I insured a 2008 worth about 5 times as much with more power on a better policy for the same price.

Banger racing, field cars, not so bad.
Young fellas buying em cheaper than ever and ragging them around in public... not so good.

    thoughts on this front splitter?

spotted a tatty Celica front bumper on adverts that a lad is only looking €20 for with that splitter attached and it's only a few minutes out the road.

i always said i loved the standard lines of the Celica because it look so simple and uncluttered, so i'm not sure if i want this because it's a nice addition or just because it's cheap and nearby?

    this is the car without.

I think it really suits it, plus it's cheap and close, if you hate it it's only 20 quid and you could make the money easy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,865 ✭✭✭✭MuppetCheck

The front end looks a lot cleaner without it. The Celica looks angular and that's too roundy looking.

Buy it and give us some before/after pics, I think it could be nice. Max €20 loss, sure why not.
