Well done on just being there and super well done on racing it to the last. Every road will feel downhill for your next project.

    Now that's a compliment!

Well done, I'm well impressed. Between the xc and the HR training based on lactate testing you're going to be flying in 2016!

Monday 30th Nov 3.07 miles easy avg hr 137.

I changed my mind about 20 times today whether I was going to run or not (women, eh) I'm tired, I'm probably a bit run down, the hips are a bit sore and I do need a rest. However, some expert consultation resulted in a change of plan and the fact that this eve was just beautiful I threw on the runners & headed out for some slow recovery miles in the pitch dark, just me n my head torch. Delighted I did as it felt great.

End of month = table time, quite happy with my November mileage, my highest ever monthly total and includes two races.

    1 x 10 mile race PB
    1 x XC county intermediates

Am going to take it very easy for the rest of the week just running every 2nd day (if I manage to stick to this I'll be very surprised!!) Jingle Bells in on Saturday and I don't have a clue for a target, I might just try for a PB rather than a 'sub' anything. I don't even know if I'm in PB shape although I have done some speed work in the last couple of weeks which should help.

    Tuesday 1st December

Santa came early and very kindly delivered my new garmin 220 - on a REST day!! busied myself with setting up the Wednesday sessions from the marathon plan so they're ready to upload to the watch now :)

40 mins strength session in the club gym (2 rounds) while everyone else was doing the first night of the winter league, pity I will have to give it a miss this year but will use the clubhouse gym while its free on those nights.

    Wednesday 2nd December 4 miles @ 10.15, avg HR 96PBM

aggggggghhhhhhhhh OMG! more HRM sagas, this time with my lovely brand new shiny watch, which is fantastic, so light & figured it all out very quickly. The first thing I noticed about the HR strap was that it could be tightened much more so no more slippage issues right? Also its very light & comfy to wear (like the watch) however.... despite it seeming to be ok in the first couple of miles of the run somewhere along the line it dropped my HR. See below for the full set of splits from garmin connect (apologies, its a big table!)

Splits Time Cumulative Time Moving Time Distance Elev Gain Elev Loss Avg Pace Avg Moving Pace Best Pace Avg HR Max HR Avg Run Cadence Max Run Cadence Avg Stride Length Calories

apparently I burned 7 calories on mile 3, hardly worth getting out of bed for  Has anyone any experience with the FR 220? Obviously this is just its first run out so I'm not sending it back just yet but am so disappointed to have issues on day 1 :o I even tried doing a few fast sections to raise the HR (one of them up a hill) but nada.

I got a 220 two weeks ago . I have not had any issues with the hr monitor.

I don't use a garmin heart strap though I use a wahoo one.

Maybe just try a new battery? You can get the little round ones for the HR strap in pound shops for very cheap.

its a brand new HR monitor though, shouldn't need a new battery I wouldn't have thought? I'll keep an eye on it for the rest of the week & see what happens. A bit odd though.

It might have just had a dodgy battery to start. I remember having a similar problem with very very low readings and a change of battery fixed it.

    Thursday 3rd December 4 miles @ avg hr 133

Ososlo you're a genius! I changed the battery in the HR monitor at lunchtime today, ran up and down the stairs in work a few times and it seemed to respond accordingly. All went well on the run this eve too so fingers crossed that's the end of that messing. Absolutely beautiful evening for a run, it had stopped raining and was crispy cold.

Jingle bells 5k, watch time 24:50, official chip time 25:00

    Splits 7:57, 8:15, 7:42

Disappointed with that, I started too slow & lost too much time in the 2nd mile. When I saw my watch & thought I had a 2 sec pb I was happy enough even tho it was off my target, but 25:00 dead on is just not good enough. Others got PBS today & well done to them :).

Total miles including warm up & cool down 6.1

    Followed by swim & sauna

Christmas shopping next - coal for me though!!!!

Being way to harsh on yourself, this is your 3rd weekend in a row racing. You've done a tough 10 mile and XC the two weeks previous, don't care how good your powers of recovery are, those races are going to take it out of your legs a bit. You ran a PB by watch and 6 secs off by chip? Nothing at all to be ashamed of from what I can see. Bravo to those who PB'D but they haven't raced at the same frequency as you.

And you're the one that gives out to me for making excuses :) I appreciate that, i really do, however, I should have been able to find 10 seconds out there today.

It wasn't a goal race tho so I'm just going to learn from it & move on. I had planned to try for 25 in cabinteely next week but that's definitely way to optimistic so I might have to concede defeat to the hills & wait till next year.

Give the legs a break from racing for a few weeks I'd say, and the PB will be yours. Isn't Cabinteely the hilly one?

Yes and id need to be in 24:00 min shape at the very least to do it in 25:00 so it'll have to wait till post Rotterdam now.

Hmmmm .. wouldn't be sure you'd have to wait that long (but I wouldn't aim for next weekend!)

Well done AM for going out and giving it a good hard lash. The wind will have had a big impact on your time no doubt.
For the day that was in it you should be pretty pleased! Happy shopping!
