"Islamist" and "Muslim" really don't mean the same thing.

Muslim = an individual who just practices their faith privately

Islamist = someone who does the above but with an emphasis on implementing and imposing Islamic laws and political values etc on others

It must be incredibly frustrating as an Islamic terrorist not to have your views and motives taken seriously by the societies you terrorize, even after you have explicitly and repeatedly stated them. Even worse, those on the regressive left, in their endless capacity for masochism and self-loathing, have attempted to shift blame inwardly on themselves, denying the terrorists even the satisfaction of claiming responsibility.

It's like a bad Monty Python sketch:

"We did this because our holy texts exhort us to to do it."

    "No you didn't."

    "Wait, what? Yes we did..."

"No, this has nothing to do with religion. You guys are just using religion as a front for social and geopolitical reasons."

"WHAT!? Did you even read our official statement? We give explicit Quranic justification. This is jihad, a holy crusade against pagans, blasphemers, and disbelievers."

"No, this is definitely not a Muslim thing. You guys are not true Muslims, and you defame a great religion by saying so."

"Huh!? Who are you to tell us we're not true Muslims!? Islam is literally at the core of everything we do, and we have implemented the truest most literal and honest interpretation of its founding texts. It is our very reason for being."

"Nope. We created you. We installed a social and economic system that alienates and disenfranchises you, and that's why you did this. We're sorry."

"What? Why are you apologizing? We just slaughtered you mercilessly in the streets. We targeted unwitting civilians - disenfranchisement doesn't even enter into it!"

"Listen, it's our fault. We don't blame you for feeling unwelcome and lashing out."

"Seriously, stop taking credit for this! We worked really hard to pull this off, and we're not going to let you take it away from us."

"No, we nourished your extremism. We accept full blame."

"OMG, how many people do we have to kill around here to finally get our message across?"

This is outstanding. Well done sir.

Turkey & Saudi Arabia ...two duplicitous b*****ds

You are very naive if you believe this. The Iraqi Kurds are ahead of a lot of others in the world, yes, but they've not fully embraced it or anything of the sort.

Not really, if you're saying that the religion itself should be banned.

Only I never said that or anything like that.

This seems careless, to be fair.

A supporter of a political movement that favors reordering government and society in accordance with laws prescribed by Islam, is a person like you and I ?

No, certainly not. With all due respect to the possible distinction between an Islamist and a radical/extremist/militant.

Not in the slightest. I'd say if was entirely appropriate. T'would be only right to scrape up what's left of the mad bint that blew herself up and process it into tasty treats for his grieving colleagues.

If I had a euro for every time I've seen "not all Muslims are terrorists" as if it's some kind of revelation in the past couple of days I'd be on a yacht beside my Greek island with my Russian supermodel girlfriend right now, it's something I thought would be obvious to anyone with half a brain.

There's a billion of them, obviously a percentage will be extremist nutjobs, just like a percentage of every other religion are nutjobs

Edit: and the non religious too

Sorry to go back to old post, but I wouldn't go for a Greek island these days if you have billions.
    Especially one near Turkey.

8 ISIL cnuts in Turkey stopped on their way to Europe.

Ahh bless the Turks have stopped 8.
I guess that might make up for the thousands they have let through both directions at this stage, the fact they have helped ISIS by not allowing Kurds fight them or Americans bomb them, helped destablise Syria in the first place and help ISIs setup il refining facilities by letting equipment through.

But anyway that story can't possibly be true as we all know (from superior intellectually informed posters here and the media) that those refugees making their way up from Greece through Europe are all Syrians and Iraqis fleeing ISIS.

Obviously they aren't dependent on Eir (or Eircom) for their broadband.
I bet the fookers have better broadband than us.
All that speed and they don't like music, naked women, movies, etc, etc.

This is the final fecking straw.

Of course Muslims aren't all the same - we could send them all home if that was the case.

Could the people stop presenting this as some self satisfied "I an very smart" out of the box thinking and just realise that anyone with an average intelligence and common sense could stumble out with it.

This type of thing is so painfully inside the box that you can cross the 4 corners with 2 lines.

They got the suspected "mastermind" of last friday's attacks this morning
Female suicide bomber who fired AK-47 at police believed to be his wife or cousin.

But that is quite often one and the same in those circles.

(yeah... dailymail. But same story is breaking in Belgian, French and Dutch newspapers. Thought it would be easier in English for you)

Meanwhile in Raqqa, some French airstrikes on ISIS HQs and arms depots, then later today 5 more explosions/air strikes, no precisions on who carried out these ones, but there were 7 civilians killed and 5 injured.

I think I can gather the killings happened as a fuel truck was targeted, but the twitter feed is a bit confusing at times with a mix of language.
ISIS are attempting to cut off all internet connections (internet cafes etc...) since they have copped on that some information was "leaking" from there.

edit : I note that since I started following the feed, the twitters have uploaded a pic taken in the street, and sounds of airstrikes. Some people were asking them to prove they were in Raqqa.

I don't you understand what Islamists are.

    Islamist

(ˈɪzləmɪst) adj1. (Islam) supporting or advocating Islamic fundamentalism

n2. (Islam) a supporter or advocate of Islamic fundamentalism

I stand corrected. I always thought there was a distinction between Islamists and Islamic fundementalists.

Apparently approx. 5000 rounds of ammo were fired in this mornings raids.

    That's an extraordinary figure.

So is marriage but that doesn't stop it from being denied to plenty of people across the globe. It is about the interpretation of a 'right'. No one has complete freedom of religion, the concept is itself an absurdism. What if my religion were called to refuse to pay taxes? Find the nation that will uphold my religious freedom in that regard.

Of course people have complete freedom of religion. I can practice any religion i want in Ireland today. A freedom to practice religion and using religion to refuse to pay taxes is not the same thing. Persecution based on religion is one of the core pillars on which asylum and refugee law is based. It's as core a human right as you can get. Obfuscate all you like with your "absurdisms".

I wasn't saying we should do it ...I was simply pointing out its not a tenant of democracy in reply to the poster

And hypothetically if the practice of a religion impinges on another rights then surely its practice can be curtailed with a higher law

My argument is about basic human rights ...like a religions attitude to women for instance ...and democracy in principle allows for changes

Fair enough. I am unclear on the tenets of democracy if there even are any. But i do know that freedom to practice religion is a core human right and it aint going anywhere.

Is the anger at Muslims in general starting to subside yet? Not hard to find links from mainstream sites over past few years which detail their formation and who is funding them. Maybe some of the (justified) anger can be pointed that way?

French authorities are now saying they are not confirming they have that Abouaad fellow.

But with 5000 rounds amo and a bomb explosion i can imagine identification isnt the easiest

No real difference the Islamists believe in Political Islam by that they mean Sharia law comes ahead of secular or state law.

Sky are reporting that a Jewish teacher has been stabbed by three men claiming to be IS supporters in Marseille.

Although the presenter said that one of the assailants was said to have had a picture of Mohammed on his phone which seems curious as I understood that was a big no no in Islam?

If I'm correct it was Saudi Wahabism that introduced that 'rule', Islam culture is supposedly full of depictions of their prophet.

It's also insane, that'd be like Christianity without any picture of Jesus or whatever.
