It's like a tagline for an 80's Arnie action movie.

The day they start putting mosque after mosque up all over NI and ROI is when street protests should happen. Keep Islam from gaining significance for as long as possible.

Just reading a bit more about the case of Kayla Mueller, one of the US hostages of IS who was killed last year.

The Caliph (ie the head honcho of IS, presumably the equivalent of pope in Catholicism) raped and tortured this poor woman and forced her into marriage.

A touch hypocritical I would have thought. Him being a Caliph and all.

    What is wrong with people.
I despair for humanity more and more

These people are not human. They're not even animals. I wouldn't insult the animal kingdom by saying they're animals. They're pure filth scum!

You want a referendum to remove freedom of religion from our constitution?

You would think a person from the north would know something about the history there.

It's not a religion but a death cult.

Ban Islam and keep the rest.

I abhor them...they are an abomination ....and all done in the name of religion
Seems they too blame the west (just like some on here & Corbyn) for their actions...must keep them fueled in their self righteous murderous ways

I am raping and torturing and beheading women and using them as slaves because the west won't stop Assad bombs ....nice

    Wheres the contradiction?

People keep judging Islamists by our values. While the will to see good in people is commendable, Islamists do not share our values. In the Caliphs eyes he is doing Gods will by raping and torturing and murdering, thats what it says to do it the Koran.

Freedom to practice religion is a basic tenant of democracy

In fairness I wouldn't blame democracy for going to the PRTB to try to get them out if freedom to practice religion was engaging in antisocial behaviour.

There are 5 basis principles of democracy
Rule of law, freedom of press, respect of human rights, active political processes & enlightened citizens.

You have the right to hold religious beliefs but given democracy maximizes the opportunities for self-determination, for persons to live under laws of their own choosing.... a people have the right to decide through a constitution how religions are practiced....the practice of a religion is not a right if not included in the constitution

It is a basic human right so good luck with getting that scrapped at the UN.

    Article 18.

Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.

Islamists are people like you and I. Islamic extremists are not. Putting all Muslims in with these lunatics is hate speech, plain and simple. And based on zero facts. Quit with the basic hate speech.

Poor police dog, had so much more to offer to the world than these worthless 'humans' who clearly hate themselves so much they use religion as an excuse to drag the rest of us, Muslims included, down with them. That is the heart of it for me, I may be wrong. But religion is purely the useful excuse (and clearly there are issues with how Islam can be interpretated). These scum latch onto this cosy little excuse because they are full of hate anyway. They'd be raping and killing people lone wolf anyway if they weren't able to do it on a big scale together. The world gets stronger, moves onto better things, all while their names aren't even recognised in history and are wiped off the face of the earth. Up yours dickheads.

I don't think you understand what Islamists are.

    Islamist

(ˈɪzləmɪst) adj1. (Islam) supporting or advocating Islamic fundamentalism

n2. (Islam) a supporter or advocate of Islamic fundamentalism

So is marriage but that doesn't stop it from being denied to plenty of people across the globe. It is about the interpretation of a 'right'. No one has complete freedom of religion, the concept is itself an absurdism. What if my religion were called to refuse to pay taxes? Find the nation that will uphold my religious freedom in that regard.

You'd be free to believe that you didn't have to pay taxes.

You'd still have to pay them though.

I wasn't saying we should do it ...I was simply pointing out its not a tenant of democracy in reply to the poster

And hypothetically if the practice of a religion impinges on another rights then surely its practice can be curtailed with a higher law

My argument is about basic human rights ...like a religions attitude to women for instance ...and democracy in principle allows for changes

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,402 ✭✭✭nxbyveromdwjpg

Not really, if you're saying that the religion itself should be banned.
