I'm about to walk out of work until Wednesday. Next time I set foot in here it'll be as a marathon runner.

    My tummy is SICK.

Ah you'll be grand! Just over thinking it. McGrattans beforehand might settle the nerves. :pac:

Boomshackalack ...last two miles done, can't believe I have gotten this far. My tummys doing backflips getting lots of well wishes over the last few days. Headed for Dublin in the morning so a lot of packing and organising to do after work today for us all. Both my kids have decided to become nocturnal this week up at all hours of the night the little messers. Happy friday peeps.

With the wave starts 10 minutes apart, does anyone have experience of how many minutes gap there is likely to be between when the last wave 1 runners to cross the start line and the release of wave 2?

If the weather is wet and windy, I’m thinking of sticking to my designated wave 1, putting in a couple of slow miles, hopefully avoiding some of the congestion and perhaps seeking some shelter in the 3:50 group when it catches up. Not sure how much a big group will help come the Crumlin wind tunnel however!

If the weather is grand, I’ll probably pace myself and target 3:45.

This is my second DCM, last year I made the mistake of taking off too quicker and suffered for it in the second half, didn't stop me from enjoying the day though.

    Good luck all,
    Cheers,
    PP

Hi PP, I think Adrian started at the front of Wave 2 last year. If you're reading, can you remember how long before the two waves merged? Best of luck this year!

Is anyone doing any work today?? I went to a meeting and came back to a clatter of 'boards.ie' emails for the thread :D

Serious question, I have 'tweaked' something at the back of my left knee a week ago, not sure how I did it, as I was not pushing myself. The physio reckons that it could have been due to the fact that I did two small runs (5 miles and 3 miles) on a treadmill and it has a different effect on your muscles and probably put an unusual force on my knee. Might have also been down to using the car in heavy traffic for a week (normally on the Luas), ironically I avoided the Luas to dodge manflu .

Ditched the car, took the Luas this week, no running and the back of my left knee is still 'tight', no so much sore anymore, just tight. Also my left hamstring feels a little tight, but I am not too worried somehow about this.

I am taking one or two Nurofen and using Diclac anti-flam cream, I was wondering if anyone had any last minute tips to help?

Stretching my quads seems to help, should I ice it now or put heat on it (deep heat/hot bath) to get the blood flowing?
I also have a decent knee bandage (light type from Boots), that I have used for my other 'dodgy' knee in the past :) and had no problems doing the DCM last year wearing it.......should I consider using it as a bit of extra support??

Any tips/advise/black magic would be helpful........

No going to run on it until Monday morning at 9:10!!

Going to aim for around 4:00 as I don't think that I will last 4:30 hours on the course :pac::D:D:D

FBOT will get to you shortly Gillo :D

    Ok I'll try to explain:

    - Hit 'quote' on the bottom, as usual
    - remove quote marks at beginning and end of table [........] and [.........]
    - go to end of table and insert your details ex
    |Gillo|n/a|4:30|leave space for actual time| shoe type

    - And hit submit...

Have a go, if you break it, *someone* will fix :)

Nice Pass..........you have me until 3pm and then I am passing to the next shift ;)

I thought I was well able for all things technology but I tried to update my details in to the table and my preview post had it missing so I'm giving up.

If anyone would like to add me I'd appreciate it. I'm hoping for 4.29.59 but would be happy to just finish it really. I'm not wearing shoes as such, will be effectively barefoot in a pair of xeroshoes. It adds a bit of pressure as although I've run hundreds of miles in them I'm sure if I bomb out everyone will blame the (lack of) shoes.

Yikes, sorry to hear that smash. I can't advise anything sorry, except do what physio has advised. Can you call him/her over the weekend?
Above all, listen to your body and know when you need to pull back and run another day......

I'm off work today so have plenty of time to catch up on this thread ...... man it moves fast. I see from a few other posts that I'm not the only one having unusual dreams about the Marathon. I've spent the last few nights dreaming that we all had to complete a pre marathon online test based on everything we have learnt over the last few months on this thread, once we past the test we then had to go out and run 20 miles in super fast time.... and we could only do both the test and run this weekend.
....just thought I'd share here, ..... if I told anyone else they would thing that I'm off my rocker!!!!!
