When someone posted earlier that there were no DART services on Monday I thought they were joking! But there aren't! Cripes that'll teach me for doubting any expert advice given on here :)

Ok so I'll get my husband to drop me in. Where should I aim for him to drop me and for what time should I aim to be dropped.. Where and when basically is what I'm saying. I don't want to be standing around (I'll be on my own within the thousands) for hours.

    Thanks!

Oh, and this evening I put the clean laundry in off the washing line in to the washing machine and a towel I was bringing to the washing machine (later) in to the bin... my head is not quite right at the moment...

Hehe engol, sorry had to laugh at that! (And interrupt going to bed :D)

Will you have a bag with you to drop off? If so, allow for 50-60 mins prior to your wave start to drop bag, queue for loo, warm up, queue for loo.... If I remember from last year, it wasn't straightforward getting into our corral but that was probably because we came at it from the wrong direction
Have a look on the official website for wave start access points. You should be ok driving in early; from what I was told, roads aren't closed until the very last minute.

Thanks Dubgal72. I'll spend tomorrow evening planning a route and making sure everything has a backed up plan...

How congested is it at the start? Is it difficult to get to your pacers?

Not difficult but the path will be clear if it is. You can hop a barrier walk up to your desired place and hop in again. If you find your pacer flying off and people in your way just relax and take a deep breath, the crowd will sieve out and you will catch up. Do not weave around people, you'll just add distance and stress.
    Good luck.

Hi Stevo I am a parent of a child who was granted his "make a wish" so thank you for doing this and would love to meet you on day. I probably won't be able to catch up with you though. ! Hopefully going with 4.30 group. Best of luck and hope you smash it on day.

I'll be getting a taxi in from Swords and I was planning on getting him to drop me as far up Nassau street as possible, so its just around the corner from Merrion Square. I'm expecting to be there for around 8am - but I like to be too early rather then too late .... just in case.

Ok. Thanks. Something to work with.

I usually get up at 7.25 so I can get up and get my porridge at approximately the same time as always, maybe 20 minutes earlier, grab a banana and a rice cake for later and head off at about 7.45...

Cripes. I'm not a morning person at the best of times and tonights night shift is not going to help matters. Ah well, no point worrying about that now!!

Not if you're early enough. We'll be in position around 8:20.

You'll be able to get a taxi all the way to Merrion Sq. we got one to the Davenport hotel last year coming from north side/Amiens St.

Where's the best place in the City Centre to pick up some High5 gels and some chafing gel, like Bodyslide or something? Thanks!

I'm a complete newbie novice but I imagine there'll be plenty to choose from when picking up your pack at the expo?

If you don't get any at the expo, Runlogic in Temple Bar have High 5 and Bodyglide.

Cheers. I'll be at the expo today as it turns out, but probably not until 2pm-3pm ish, so I'll have a look. Failing that, I'll get to Runlogic tomorrow or later today.

Hey smiley, I'm sure Stevo will be in McGrattan's, maybe you could both arrange to meet there even for 10 mins? Would love to say hello to you both anyway...

Elverys or I have a feeling Great Outdoors stocked it for a while also, might be worth trying.
I hadn't thought of using bodyslide, how recommended is it, I assumed it was for tri's and making it easier to get the wet suit off???? Yeah, total noob question!

About to head into town and on to the expo, I've no idea what anyone here looks like, but if you see a thirty seven year old guy looking completely overwhelmed feel free to come over and say hi!

If you get stuck Chris let me know, I've a whole box of Isogels and can meet you tomorrow.

So this is what a real Saturday morning looks like! Haven't slept until 8am in a long time!!

Off out for my final 2 miles, next stop DCM!

Quick question on fuelling regarding the lucozade sports stations. I have incorporated it into my long runs, just taking a gulp or two as part of a loop when I passed my car. How much of the bottle should I be consuming? Is it just a gulp or two or should I be looking to get in as much as I can?
Obviously with gels, I'm consuming the packet each time, just a bit confused on the Lucozade Sport.

I wouldn't overdo it. Just sip like you would water. There are 2-3 sports drink stations on the route so you can get more later if you need to.

    Good morning all.

The last few weeks have flown by and it's Expo day today......can you believe it??

Going with my friend at around 12 noon today to get our race numbers and sign the wall at the expo. It is his first DCM and he is hyper about it and is really looking forward to it too....

Having porridge and Nurofen, a winning combination, for breakfast to try and shake this damn knee niggle.... I think that I am slowly winning the race to be ready.... Did a fair bit of Foam Rollering last night that seemed to help, thanks DG and Mentors. ;)

On the spreadsheet put me down for 4:00, no wait......4:15........em......em..... I mean 4:30......right then 4:09 'Final Answer' and Asics Cumulus 15........really bright orange and black ones with yellow on them that can be seen from space :)...hope that all fits on the spreadsheet...Thanks

For us 11.00 o'clockers meeting for coffee, should we pick a meeting place at the expo?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,413 ✭✭✭Toulouse

So that is that, 457 miles since June 22nd.

First run in 18 weeks where it's rained, perhaps it's to tell me that it if it's like that on Monday, it's not going to be too bad.

Stiff for the first mile, passed a bus shelter with an Asics - Dublin, Go run it advertisement which gave me a bit of a pep in my step. Ran up the hill on St Laurance Rd. and down to the bridge on Sarsfield Rd. where they were out setting up the barriers for DCM.

My watch beeped a mile so I turned to run for home. 'Come back' the lovely man setting up the barriers called. 'I will' I shouted, 'on Monday!'
    :D
