Good video of the action on http://www.independent.ie/videos/world-news/video-fatal-tornado-rips-through-venice-31364568.html
Balls to the wall stuff of the guy chasing the tornado in his car near the end of the footage, thought he really was a bit close!

She originally posted the videos on her Facebook and they went viral. She also posted a status defending her dad on there.

    Sparks off south east coast

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,630 ✭✭✭highdef

Was not expecting that! A lot of sparks too. That precip in the SE and east developed rather quickly. Don't think it was forecast and it looks quite heavy. I'm just west of Kilcock and it's dry but cloudy here. Sun went in an hour or so ago. The rain in the east and SE looks heavy and it looks like increasing in intensity.

Decent enough looking storm, but, looks to be heading for Wales.

All well and good but with no sun to trigger surface heating. It would be a slim chance if anything occurs.

It's kicking off now out at sea off the southwest coast. Clouds shooting up on satellite, 13 sferics detected on ATD.

    Few sferics in the SE

Not too confident on much sparks at all tbh but theres a squall line risk apparent on both the WRF and NMM.

    nmm_uk1-1-19-0_zav7.png

Strong Deep layer shear behind it.

Funny thing is a friend of mine is still planning on having a BBQ later

A hint of the start of that squall line just passed over here. Short lived but intense burst of rain.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,872 ✭✭✭dacogawa

Yes, on it's way across, doesn't look anything too heavy but your friend having the BBQ will be in for some fun soon :)

It's looking more like a squall line at the moment. Starting to intensify across the midlands.

Yes, it has beefed up a bit, if it stays that way the Longitude crowd should have a fun end/trip home

The air felt quite moist today but I'd say we lack the heat for thundery weather. The low pressure system near is kind of deep, which usually brings organized rain bands and wind that usually sweeps away the warm air, hence the reason why thunder is somewhat rare in Ireland.

Had a few sparks pass through last night. Will see what pops up later and try and get some pics. Off out to enjoy the good weather now while it lasts!
